I am also affected by this bug in 12.10. Sorry, my response was about the open bug (which I had the same problem with). So again, to provide support to the others who ask, How do we bind our switch workspace up key? Incidentally, I've used the exact same command a few weeks ago, but forgot to report back here. So it does work fine :) I had this bug's problem and also the fact that my shortcuts are forgotten on each reboot. Please revisit this bug. I use Ctrl-Alt-W/S/A/D to switch between workspaces, and this bugs prevent me from setting up fast workspace switching. Even a dirty workaround is appreciated.
