Re: [Bug 115700] Re: Nvidia proprietary drivers for nvidia FX 5500 result in black screen
not sure which is the one you're looking for log1 is the Xorg.0.log file after booting into recovery kernel after resart from black screen log2 is the Xorg.0.log.old file in same boot. There were two other Xorg logs, but they had 9 instead of 0, and one had a .old on the end On 5/25/07, Sitsofe Wheeler [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Kyle: Could you attach a /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from a black screen run? -- Nvidia proprietary drivers for nvidia FX 5500 result in black screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115700 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- Nvidia proprietary drivers for nvidia FX 5500 result in black screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115700 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 115700] Re: Nvidia proprietary drivers for nvidia FX 5500 result in black screen
New developments: Yes the caps lock key works I noticed that, when removing splash, the computer hangs for a minute or two on loading hardware drivers I have a second integrated graphics card, it is a geforce 4 mx. If I move the monitor cable to the onboard graphics the screen shows up, and the drivers and card for the fx 5500 are displayed as vesa On 5/23/07, Sitsofe Wheeler [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Kyle: Does the caps lock no longer work when the screen goes black? Re: [Bug 115700] Re: Nvidia proprietary drivers for nvidia FX 5500 result in black screen
sorry i mistyped the last line. If I reboot my computer after selecting the nvidia driver for my fx 5500, and tell my bios to boot with the onboard card, and switch cables, the fx 5500 driver is changed to vesa, and card to vesa as well On 5/24/07, Kyle [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: New developments: Yes the caps lock key works I noticed that, when removing splash, the computer hangs for a minute or two on loading hardware drivers I have a second integrated graphics card, it is a geforce 4 mx. Re: [Bug 115700] Re: Nvidia proprietary drivers for nvidia FX 5500 result in black screen
The monitor spewed out text, nothing out of the ordinary for a non-quiet boot, then the screen went black like before. Another thing to note, I can boot the kernel into recovery mode and everything works fine, as long as I don't start X. Re: [Bug 115700] Re: Nvidia proprietary drivers for nvidia FX 5500 result in black screen
Forgot to add I still couldn't back out of X (ctrl + alt + F1) The only thing I can do after the black screen is manually restart my computer (hold the power button until it shuts down, then press the power button again) On 5/22/07, Kyle [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: The monitor spewed out text, nothing out of the ordinary for a non-quiet boot, then the screen went black like before.
