Re: [Bug 144560] Re: doesn't prompt for certificate

2008-04-19 Thread Oscar
Ah, I understand now. I thought a session was the login-session to
the page that I was trying to access. That's what the confusion comes
from.
I didn't think a session was the current running firefox process. I
still think the wording of the button is somewhat unfortunate.
Thanks for the explanation.

That is not the way FF works and not what the button suggests. Firefox
works with sessions. It always asks *for every session*. You can
easily start a new session by restarting FF as you already found out.
What you expect would be a confirmation for every connection. For a
single page with say 15 elements, that means 15 (!) confirmations. I
don't think anybody in their right mind would seriously expect or desire
  this behaviour.

Closing, I don't think anybody will or should put effort into changing
  the current behaviour.

Re: [Bug 144560] Re: doesn't prompt for certificate

Hi.
The way I see it the option Always ask should _always ask_ what
certificate to use each and every time I try to log into the site. It
should not assume that I want to use the same certificate as last
time.
If the option does what's expected then perhaps a name change from
Always ask to something else like Same as last time or similar.

What I meant with the internet cafe part was that I don't think that
it's good that the next person that accesses the same site as me gets
to see my certificate by default.

I'd say, FF behaves as expexted. But I leave that up to somebody else
to decide and close the bug.

You should really not use a certificate supplied to you in an
  environment like an internet cafe.
