@Thomas:

Thanks for the follow-up . . . um, yes, don't know if I posted to this
report, but the eject key does work in my several OSX partitions, there I
believe the key works to both open and close the tray--so it's no surprise
that the drive is itself OK. But the keystoke eject also works in the
Gecko Rolling & TW partitions, and I believe it worked in a U-MATE live DVD
session--however in the case of linux it only works to open the tray and
has to be nudged physically to close it, etc . . . which all led me to
believe that this is an **exclusive** issue with Lubuntu in 18.04 edition.

Having a good day so far, thanks,

F

@Thomas:

Thanks for providing the commands, I knew there was a way to do that but
didn't have the time to google it. So, the first command did work; the
second command says that "xorriso" is not available but could possibly be
installed. Might try to install it later or tomorrow if that is helpful to
getting the keystroke operational . . . .

[code]: eject /dev/sr0
fritz@:~$ xorriso -outdev /dev/sr0 -eject all

Command 'xorriso' not found, but can be installed with:

sudo apt install xorriso [end code]
