Re: [Bug 2272] Re: Cannot create dvds from dvd isos with graveman

2006-10-13 Thread crackpipe
I'm using 0.3.12-5. Remains a problem. Not in Ubuntu: using Zenwalk
3.0. Kernel is 2.6.17.11 (gcc version 3.4.6). Might simply be
permissions - threw my hands up on this one a few weeks ago and am
instead routing CD .isos to my Winblows box for Nero burning. That
said, had same problems w/graveman back in Debian times and instead
used gnomebaker and/or CLI for a good result. Thanks for the
feedback.

[Bug 65587] Re: "/etc/init.d/avahi-daemon start" doesn't start anything

2006-10-13 Thread Trent Lloyd
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 56426 ***

Ah yes I forgot dbus starts it not rc?.d.. oops..

What would you propose is the best solution?

Given dbus starts it.. im thinking perhaps we could move the default
start behavior to ONLY affect the dbus script and leave /etc/inti.d
/avahi-daemon to work as expected

That would then leave 2 places to check if avahi is being started tho
but perhaps that is the better solution

While it is started by dbus, it links to ../init.d/avahi-daemon so the
init script is the one used by dbus

[Bug 42217] Re: 100% cpu utilisation during DNS resolution

2006-10-13 Thread Daniel Robitaille
I haven't been able to reproduce this bug with Firefox in Dapper or
Edgy. I have tried various type of "catastrosphic" network failure
while browsing with Firefox, and in every situation the browser get
stuck while trying to connect to a new site it doesn't know the IP
address, seems to give up after a long while, but in every case it never
uses more that a few percent of my cpu usage.

Same thing when simply doing normal DNS lookup while the network is up ;
I don't think I have seen any usage over 5% during the dns resolution.

pkg-create-dbgsym (0.16) edgy; urgency=low

  * pkg_create_dbgsym: If package build directory does not exist, only whine

[Bug 14911] Re: Flash plugin problem with ARGB visuals causes crash

It looks that new flashplugin-nonfree (7.0.68~ubuntu3) and firefox
(1.99+2.0rc2+dfsg-0ubuntu2) didn't fix this bug either.
Even removing packages: "firefox libnss3 libnss-dev firefox-dev
firefox-themes-ubuntu firefox-gnome-support libnspr4 libnspr-dev
libmyspell3c2", then installing them and deleting firefox profile didn't fix
that problem.

[Bug 65851] Installer crashes when using "audio" as default user

2006-10-13 Thread heine
Public bug reported:

The installer of Ubuntu/Kubuntu - Dapper/Edgy will crash if the new default
user is set to an existing default group, like "audio".
The Live-CD installer crashes right at this point, when the new user should be
created on the system. It quits. an existing grib config is damaged and the
system is unusable.

The alternative text installer ignores that problem. The system is fine, but no
user is created, so that you have a well installed system, but no one could log
in, due to this non-existant user.
Very annoying, took me a whole day to figure this out.

[Bug 65852] /etc/init.d/console-screen.kbd.sh fails to setup console during boot

2006-10-13 Thread dAniel hAhler
Public bug reported:

The line
"""
readlink /proc/self/fd/0 | grep -q -e /dev/vc -e '/dev/tty[^p]' -e /dev/
console
"""
fails on my system during boot, because
"readlink /proc/self/fd/0" is "/dev/null (deleted)" at that time.

This causes the VTs not to handle UTF8 chars correctly, probably because
the font does not get changed.

[Bug 65631] Re: skge driver broken: invalid call to spin_unlock causes system crash

2006-10-13 Thread Alexander Schulze
As there seems to be no activity on this bug yet, I did a binary search
in the bcollins/ubuntu-edgy git tree to find the problematic commit that
introduced the problem. (I use the http interface on git.kernel.org to
do this.)

The situation is quite confusing. There are two files named skge.c in
the kernel, one belonging to the skge driver, the other to the sk98lin
driver, and it seems that these two files were confused when doing
feature backports. This occurs in commit
df5831f36218ca9276866ad26524492810cf3d53 from 2006-05-09 and is
corrected by commit 37419595bb1bc44c489daa1d101a0e633bf3b934 from
2006-05-11. Before these commits, there is no hw_lock present in the
skge driver; the correction commit reintroduces it, but obviously
consistently, reverting skge.c from version 1.5 to 1.3 again. The
following commit, 2d2a387199bf38c6628adb9c6184d7ab6e306148 from
2006-05-20, eliminates hw_lock again, and the driver version is now 1.5
(and does not contain the locking error).

Then, on 2006-08-10 in commit c168e0350ac2d286724ea985227360e9605eb9c3,
the error seems to be introduced. Here it gets interesting, as the diff
for skge.c in this commit does not match the state of the skge.c file.
It (the diff) indicates that the line "spin_unlock(&hw->hw_lock);"
causing the error is present in the file both before and after the patch
(black color in the http interface, no + or - prefix in the diff), while
this line is clearly *not* in the skge.c file before this commit.
(However, it was present in the 1.3 branch that we temporarily reverted
back to as described above.) Git (or, more precisely, patch) seems to
get confused and introduces this line into the file, causing the error
we are seeing here.

For me, the problem seems to be caused by a commit based on a previous
skge.c version (1.3?) instead of the version that was in the git tree at
that time (1.5), causing patch to malfunction and introduce the
spin_unlock line into the code. As my previous reports said, a
comparison with skge 1.5 in vanilla 2.6.17 shows no other significant
differences, and an application of the patch I submitted above should be
sufficient to correct the situation.

[Bug 60755] Re: New .lang file for DocBook

2006-10-13 Thread Joachim Noreiko
I see your point -- the change from the xml highlighter to this one will feel
like a partial regression if a user has the more obscure tags in documents.
I've tried throwing a few large DocBook files at the second, complete, lang
file, and I'm not noticing a difference in speed. Perhaps the first time I'd
made mistakes in my lang file.
