Re: [Bug 89660] Re: cursor control regression in vim

2007-03-09 Thread robinharvey
Hi Brian,

I tried these keystrokes on vt1, and they aren't bound to anything, either
on the command line or in Vim. One thing to note is that this behavior
works fine in the terminal (Gnome Terminal) itself; if you type a few words
in to the terminal and use these keystrokes, you'll notice that the cursor
moves one word per stroke. Maybe it's this behavior I was previously using?

Many thanks,
--Robin

some time pouring through the manual looking for them too.

Re: [Bug 43745] Re: Ubuntu corrupts real time clock on some dell laptops

2007-03-09 Thread Tuomas
Hi,

Firmware upgrade doesn't help always, like not in my case. I have upgraded
to the latest bios version A3 on latitude D420 and can confirm that the
problem hasn't disappeared by BIOS upgrade. It doesn't happen very often in
my use, but it has happened once, therefore the problem remains.

On Fri, Mar 09, 2007 at 06:51:34AM -, Klaus Reimer wrote:
Iulian, do you have the latest Dell firmware for your laptop installed?
You say you use the latest Ubuntu version so this may be an indicator
that this error was not solved in Ubuntu or the Linux kernel but it was
solved in the Dell firmware. I'm using a Dell Latitude D820 and with the
latest firmware I did not run into this problem in the last months. I
even did a extreme-rebooting-test as I did to confirm the
reproducability of the bug and it worked fine. So maybe there is a newer
firmware available for the Inspiron, too, and it will fix the bug.

[Bug 90795] Unmount of remote CIFS shares fails with timeout on system shutdown

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Unmount of remote CIFS mounts (mounted on sys. startup with auto in

[Bug 90796] [feisty] bluetooth keyboard/mouse does not work (logitech dinovo laser)

Public bug reported:

Starting with kubuntu feisty (herd5) my bluetooth keyboard/mouse doesn't

[Bug 85031] Re: [apport] apt-listchanges crashed with IOError in mail_changes()

2007-03-09 Thread Michael Vogt
This should have been fixed with 2.72ubuntu4. If it still fails for you,
can you please attach your /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/20listchanges config and
let me know if you have /usr/bin/sendmail (it uses this file to test if
it can mail or not) ?

Thanks,
 Michael

[Bug 90801] moving desktop icons on kde

2007-03-09 Thread Eric
Public bug reported:

Using kubuntu 6.10 and kde 3.5.6.
Desktop resolution is 1280x1024.

Description :

I have 5 icons on my desktop : /, dvd drive, dvd writer, home, stuff (in that
order).
They are located on the left side of the screen, centered vertically.
Icons options (right click on desktop, icons) :
- Align to grid : checked
- Lock in place : checked

After I restart the computer, icons won't be at the same place the next
time I get on the desktop. One or more icons will go up. It seems that
the 'lock in place' option does not work it should. Notice that I can't
move icons on the desktop with that option on however it doesn't prevent
icons to move away after a restart.

If I don't put them back in place they will keep going up with each
reboot. Once at the top, right under my top panel, they'll start then to
go right.

I've seen that bug on the whole 3.5 kde serie (3.5.0, 3.5.1, 3.5.2,
3.5.3, 3.5.4, 3.5.5, 3.5.6).

Screenshots :

[Bug 88232] Re: Package description is very out of date

2007-03-09 Thread Cesare Tirabassi
I have taken the liberty to modify the control and changelog files
myself. This was mostly an exercise to make me familiar with the
packaging system.

I changed the short description and long description in 'control' as
follows:

short description

The award-winning Web browser from Mozilla

long description

Firefox 2 is now faster, more secure, and fully customizable.
New powerful features have been added, among others:
Web feeds, in line spell checking, integrated search capabilities,
identity theft protection, and advanced tabbed browsing.

The 'changelog' was changed with the following addition (using dch -i):

firefox (2.0.0.2+1-0ubuntu2) feisty; urgency=low

  * package description updated (Closes: LP#88232)

-- Cesare Tirabassi [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri, 9 Mar 2007 09:08:04+0100

I then rebuild the source package and checked that the executable build
is ok.

I attach the diff to this comment.

[Bug 73477] Re: Network cards do not work on nForce 590-SLI

2007-03-09 Thread Indans2
I'm sorry that this took me so long. However, here is the requested
data. eth0 and eth1 are the onboard network cards. eth2 is a PCI card
that I added to be able to access the internet. I also created the files
eth0 eth1 and eth2 that contain the output of the dhclient eth0
eth0 commands. I attached the network cable to the appropriate devices
before doing that :D

It should be Output of dhcleint eth2 eth2

I don't know whether you need to know this...However the additional PCI

Yes I did read it and I have a G3 around too :)

From man setjmp page:

POSIX does not specify whether setjmp() will save the signal
context. (In System V it will not. In 4.3BSD it will, and there is
a function _setjmp that will not.) If you want to save signal masks,
use sigsetjmp().

From man signal

According to POSIX, the behaviour of a process is undefined
after it ignores a SIGFPE, SIGILL, or SIGSEGV signal that was
not generated by the kill(2) or the raise(3) functions.

I just discovered that it works when the Audio Output preference is set

5.0-channel, 5.1-channel and AC3. I can get it to start the DVD in
stereo and then change the audio output to 4, 4.1, 5, 5.1, AC3 but the
sound is terrible in these other; it sounds like a scratched CD.

[Bug 70073] Re: X crashes on brightness change on Thinkpad T60

2007-03-09 Thread Ian Redfern
Same problem on Feisty Herd 5 with ThinkPad X60. Putting 'blacklist
video' in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist works fine and can now cycle through
all 8 brightness settings using keyboard.

[Bug 40309] Re: Admin menus not visible with alternative admin groupname

2007-03-09 Thread Sebastien Bacher
This upload fixes the bug, you can set the environment variable
USER_IS_ADMIN to get those entries listed:

 gnome-menus (2.17.92-0ubuntu3) feisty; urgency=low
 .
   * debian/patches/07_admin_entries.patch:
