[Bug 254971] [NEW] Please sync haskell-pcre-light 0.3.1-5 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

2008-08-05 Thread Nathan Handler
Public bug reported:

Please sync haskell-pcre-light 0.3.1-5 (universe) from Debian unstable
(main).

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
The change to the description of pcre-light.cabal to allow
libghc6-pcre-light-dev to be configured correctly has been applied upstream in
Debian. We can drop the other Ubuntu change, updating the maintainer field.

Changelog since current intrepid version 0.3.1-3ubuntu1:

haskell-pcre-light (0.3.1-5) unstable; urgency=low

  * Apply a workaround for the misformatted installed-pkg-config file which
results an installation failure on some platforms (e.g. mips). Thanks to
Luca Falavigna for the patch. Closes: #482079
  * Bump Standarts-Version to 3.8.0.

froze again - this time from within a virtual machine (virtualbox)

the solution. I think more like a general I/O issue tooonly thing i
can say for certain is that it happens when large amounts of data are
transferred on the nic, and i think it only happens when i am on
networks with high latency (but only a hunch to back this up
unfortunately). What annoys me the most is that the logfiles gives you
nothing at all :-(

[Bug 254974] [NEW] Segmentation fault in emacs22-x

2008-08-05 Thread stefie10
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: emacs22

Hi,

I get a the following error when I run emacs22-x:
$ emacs22-x
Fatal error (11)Segmentation fault

Since that is my default emacs, it also happens when I run just emacs.

I also get it when I turn off the .emacs and site file loading:
$ emacs -q --no-site-file
Fatal error (11)Segmentation fault

I started noticing it after an update yesterday, but I didn't notice any
emacs packages in the update. I think there was an x.org update for
Intel Graphics cards, which I have so it might be related to that.

Oddly, I do *not* get it when I run emacs with the following command
line options (which I found when I typed it by mistake):

$ emacs -nw   -
In that case, it starts in text-mode, and says Option `-' is ambiguous in the
message bar.

If I run just emacs, it says it on the command line and doesn't start:
$ emacs   -
Option `-' is ambiguous

emacs -nw without the - seg faults.
$ emacs -nw
Fatal error (11)Segmentation fault

I'm running
Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04

I have run apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade before reporting
this.

And I have no problems with emacs22-gtk, which wasn't installed when I
first ran into the problem, but it worked fine when I installed it.

Here's the version information:
$ apt-cache policy emacs22
emacs22:

[Bug 245545] Re: [hardy]Netbeans 6.1 cannot been installed under openjdk-6 package

2008-08-05 Thread Marek Slama
I just tried and it passed. I need more details to investigate. I tried
with latest openjdk build as Matthias suggested and tested netbeans-6.1
-ml-javase-linux.sh. There is more installers (with different content)
so I need to know exactly which you used. You can also run installer
with --verbose to get installer log to console. You need openjdk-6-jdk
to run installer. (I renamed /usr/java where I have JDKs and removed any
sun-java* packages. As I used --verbose I am sure installer used
openjdk-6 from /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/bin/java.

[Bug 254972] [NEW] 8.04 Misidentifies Wirelesscard

2008-08-05 Thread bass_girl09
Public bug reported:

1. Ubuntu 8.04
2. NA
3. This may get a little long winded, but bear with me. I have been trying to
get the wireless to work with my Lenovo R61e Thinkpad (it works now) and when I
typed into terminal lspci my wireless card was identified as an AR242x, but
Windows identifies it as an AR5211...at least it got the driver manufacturer
right. This has caused so many problems when I tried to get my wireless
working...I have a thread that is 8pages long on ubuntu forums here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=873980 if you would like all of the
code and information, at the end is a guide to get on wireless with an R61e
Thinkpad so that other users will not have the same issues that I did...about
page three is where it actually starts after I installed a fresh load of
ubuntu, some of the old madwifi drivers just wouldn't quit haha. So, bottom
line the Terminal said that my wireless card was an AR242x when it was in fact
an AR5211 card. Thanks.

Why then do you bother with Free Software in the first place?

 Flash is a proprietary software which also has to be installed by
 user, probably because of it's license restrictions.

 I don't think I'll get in hell after death, because of using
 proprietary software (i'm an atheist anyway) I don't see any reason why
 Adobe should not want to collaborate with Canonical.

It's quite simple to get it - people bother with Ubuntu and Free
Software, because they want freedom, and that is their definition of
it.

If Adobe wants to collaborate with Canonical, Adobe must make their
software Free. If Adobe makes non-free software, Canonical won't
collaborate with Adobe.

The website http://www.gnu.org explains pretty well why software
should be free. If it doesn't convince you, then use whatever tickles
your fancy.

[Bug 254978] [NEW] A wish: Include packages for Panda3D graphics engine

2008-08-05 Thread moma
Public bug reported:

This is a request and wish, not an error message.

Panda3D is a graphics engine for 3D rendering and game development. The
library is written in C++/OpenGL and it provides both Python and C++
programming API. Python is the recommended programming language.

About the license:
At Wednesday 28 May 2008, the Panda3D development switched to the BSD license.
However, since the release was still using the old license, it has not been
officially updated yet until the next major release of Panda3D.

Study: http://www.panda3d.org
and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panda3d

Currently Ubuntu does not include ready-made packages and we have to
compile it from source code or use some old packages. So please, include
Panda3d in Ubuntu's repo.

See: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=45667
(note: Moma's posting on page 2 shows how to compile it and create a .deb
package)

See: http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/3856/promote/
(a brainstorm request)

I will help with anything you ask, but I have no experience or capacity to
maintain the packages myself.

[Bug 241041] Re: Please merge xen-tools 3.9-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

2008-08-05 Thread Bhavani Shankar
Current ubuntu changes:
Added hook scripts for ubuntu guests
Added xvda support
Added hardy support

Ubuntu changes can be dropped since debian has ensured that the hook
scripts which setup networking details for ubuntu and debian guests will
correctly setup the broadcast address and enables xvda support.

Hardy support can be dropped since the package is being uploaded to
intrepid.

[Bug 234629] Re: supybot !web title leaks LAN HTTP servers to the channel

2008-08-05 Thread bascule
you can add a non-snarfing regex to the title snarfer in supybot,
although not ideal, it offers a level of protection for a user. That
plugin is in some ways dangerous by default as it automatically connects
to any arbitary url that appears in a chan.

[Bug 254980] [NEW] Calendar displays appointments/meetings at incorrect times

2008-08-05 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

evolution 2.22.3.1-0ubuntu1 on Hardy does not use the correct timezone
when adding calendar events or displaying reminders. My timezone is set
to America/New_York (-0400, currently in daylight savings). This is
confirmed with 'dpkg-reconfigure tzdata'. Evolution preferences are
setup to America/New_York. Output of date:

$ date
Tue Aug  5 09:41:48 EDT 2008
$ date -u
Tue Aug  5 13:41:50 UTC 2008

If I am in 'day view' of the evolution calendar, and I double click on
the '12pm' time slot, the Appointment editor dialog displays the time as
'4pm', but the Appointment editor dialog shows the timezone as
'America/New_York'. It doesn't seem to make a difference if I choose
another timezone, the times are always wrong in the appointment editor.
Interestingly, if I double click '12pm', the editor shows '4pm', then if
I don't change the time at all and save the appointment, it shows up in
the calendar as '8pm'. Creating a new calendar and adding a single
event as described (ie double click 12pm, is displays 4pm in edit, save,
displays 8pm in evolution) results in:

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 254984] [NEW] Applying KDE style to GTK applications causes them to crash when interacting with toolbars

2008-08-05 Thread Björn Lindh
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gtk-qt-engine-kde4

When the GTK Styles and Fonts module in KDE 4 is set to Use my KDE
style in GTK applications browsing/clicking menubars (File, Edit etc)
and right-click menus in menu bars causes GTK programs to crash.

Steps to reproduce (I'm using a Swedish language pack so the terms might not be
100% correct):
1. Open K-menu
2. Click System Settings
3. Click Appearence
4. Click GTK Styles and Fonts on the left menu
5. Under GTK Styles, select the radio button Use my KDE style in GTK
applications
6. Click Apply

7. Open Mozilla Firefox
8. Go to www.google.com
9. Mark the text (http://www.google.com/;) in the addressbar
10. Right-click and select Copy
11. Firefox closes

Test environment:
* KDE 4.1
* QtCurve style in KDE

Notes:
* Compositing effects enabled, though the bug also occurs if they are not
enabled
* GTK applications work fine except the error above, right-click menus can be
used fine on webpages
* Selecting Use another style: QtCurve under step 5 above does NOT cause
Firefox to crash on step 10-11

 gem working?

It should never have been added to ruby1.9's depend. It should have been
added to gem1.9's depends. But gem1.9 no longer exists (replaced by
rubygems1.9, rubygems source package).

rubygems1.9 does depend on rdoc1.9.

[Bug 254600] Re: no audio cd found

2008-08-05 Thread Yankeppey
Yes, soundkonverter can convert the cd well, but it doesn`t detect it. No, i`m
using KDE 3.5.9.
It`s not comfortable always to choose right variant in autorun menu, because
sometimes i forget add all needed tracks to list. In that way I must close
soundkonverter, and run autorun menu twice to call soundkonverter at second
time.
Do you understand me? (my english is very bad)

Re: [Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2008-08-05 Thread Nils
 Why then do you bother with Free Software in the first place?

I like some open source software like Firefox, RubyOnRails, Python,
Java, WebKit, Gimp, Apache, etc

 If Adobe wants to collaborate with Canonical, Adobe must make their
 software Free.

Uhh I thought Canonical is a business, not a communist organization..

a new Add Data Source dialog. Unfortunately, the original login window
is on top of the new dialog. This prevents typing in the details into
the data source window.
