2. Extract the zip file.
3. Copy EN011IMS.10G to a USB-Device (fat32) and rename it to EN011IMS.ROM
4. Shutdown your MSI Wind Netbook. Remove the battary and power supply.

Why that? Do you really think that a bug that enables all users on a
machine to see the encrypted passwords of other users is not a
security violation and that a solution is only on the wishlist?

I was informed that in my patch, there are missing parantheses near
free result. Obviously, I sent an obsolete version of the patch. Now, I
have attached the version that I really used to successfully compile
the package.

2010-01-06 Thread Garibaldi
I am running karmic and am also experiencing this bug - uninstalling

it using checkinstall. Now, after running rhythmbox I receive the following

Please either:
- remove it and restart.
- run with --gst-disable-segtrap and debug.

Run 'rhythmbox --help' to see a full list of available command line options.

It seems that the offending file is
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstfrei0r.so . Is it possible to replace this
object file with an older version? Is it necessary for openshot to
function?

[Bug 503709] [NEW] opens a doc/txt with the text import window. never used to do this. now it does it all the time. why? how to fix?

2010-01-06 Thread MelPhleg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

opens a doc/txt with the text import window. never used to do this.
now it does it all the time. why? how to fix? want openoffice to open
docs/txts without this added confusing unneeded options. want it to
open files in the way they were saved to begin with, as a doc &/or txt.

is it fixable? and, again, why in the world is that all it opens with
anymore? if i try to save it as something else when it opens it this
way, it doesn't even give me the option to save in txt. the only txt
option is text.cvs i think.

it'll only save and open as txt if i select all text/copy/paste in new
text doc, and only then will it give me the option to save it in txt.

This bug was fixed in the package devscripts - 2.10.61ubuntu1

  [ ﺄﺤﻣﺩ ﺎﻠﻤﺤﻣﻭﺪﻳ (Ahmed El-Mahmoudy) ]
  * Resynchronise with Debian (LP: #500968). Remaining changes:
- Drop universe packages from Recommends to Suggests:
+ libcrypt-ssleay-perl: only needed for a corner case (uscan on SSL
download sites), wasn't installed by default in previous releases
either, and seems quite dead upstream
+ libsoap-lite-perl: only needed for one less common command ("select")
for bts, which isn't useful for Ubuntu itself, and pulls in a lot of
other universe Perl libraries
+ debian-{keyring,maintainers}: not useful enough in Ubuntu
+ equivs: too much of a hack to install by default
  + libyaml-syck-perl: transition-check is fairly Debian-specific
- scripts/debchange.pl:
+ Adjust --security template for Ubuntu.
+ Add -U/--upstream flag that forces original "just increment
the end" behaviour; Ubuntu is upstream for some pieces of software.
  + Add --distributor= to override lsb_release output.
+ Default to "lucid" as distribution.
+ Add "ubuntu1" to version string for new versions, with tweaks for
special cases.
  + Add -R/--rebuild flag for Ubuntu's no-change rebuilds.
+ Don't use the last distribution in debian/changelog when doing
"dch -r" on Ubuntu. "Just because it was last uploaded to jaunty
doesn't mean that's the right thing to do now." Thanks to Colin
Watson. (LP: #429288)
- scripts/debsign.{sh,1}: Implement DEBSIGN_ALWAYS_RESIGN variable to skip
the "Would you like to use the current signature?" question. (Debian
  #447955)

[Bug 486790] Re: openvas-server is missing openvas-nvt-sync script

2010-01-06 Thread Wojtek Kazimierczak
In Debian the script openvas-nvt-sync is provided by openvas-plugins-
base package, recommended by openvas-server. This package will be
included in Lucid. To solve the problem in Karmic you need to make the
script from the source package, and then you can run it to download
plugins.

[Bug 265019] Re: nbsmtp looks for config file in the wrong place

2010-01-06 Thread David Frey
I also discovered that nbsmtp wasn't reading my /etc/nbsmtprc file. I
looked at the nbsmtprc source a bit and found this block of code at line
67 of fileconfig.c:

asprintf(&local_tmp_buf,"%s/nbsmtprc",SYSCONFDIR);

I'm not really sure what defines SYSCONFDIR, but a little bit of
searching uncovered a few suspicious lines in the configure file:

bindir='${exec_prefix}/bin'
sbindir='${exec_prefix}/sbin'
libexecdir='${exec_prefix}/libexec'
datadir='${prefix}/share'
sysconfdir='${prefix}/etc'

If ${prefix} is empty then datadir=/share, but if ${prefix} is "/usr",
then sysconfdir=/usr/etc. It seems like the latter case is what is
happening.

Hopefully someone who knows a little bit more about Linux applications
and package building can translate this information into a fix.

[Bug 502897] Re: [MIR] pitivi

2010-01-06 Thread Martin Pitt
gnonlin: I checked
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuMainInclusionRequirements and verified
that the package meets all points. It's well maintained in Debian and
has no bug reports. It has a test suite which gets run during build; the
only nitpick is that a failing test suite does not fail the build. It
currently succeeds on all architectures, and I don't think it's worth
carrying a delta just for this, but I filed it as a Debian bug report.
Aside from this, the package looks fine, approved.

[Bug 502615] Re: /etc/cron.daily/spamassassin should restart amavisd

2010-01-06 Thread Lupe Christoph
Maybe you can find a version of /etc/init.d/amavis that supports reload,
the one in 9.10 doesn't:

# reload)
# echo "Reloading $DESC configuration files."
# start-stop-daemon ${STOP} --signal 1
#   ;;

And I believe at a maximum frequency for rule updates of once daily this
can't be a serious load. (The actual frequency is much lower again, I
believe.)

[Bug 503266] Re: saving changes to .xlsx file didn't work

2010-01-06 Thread Bernard Decock
Try saving the document in .ods. When I change the printing preferences
from portrait to landscape, then these preferences are not saved when
saving the document as .xlsx. But when I save the document as .ods, then
these preferences are kept.

The odd thing is, when you only change the printing preferences from
portrait to landscape, that in this case the "save"-button remains
greyed-out (it looks as if calc has not noticed a change to the
document)

[Bug 431091] Re: libstdc++5 removal breaks non-ubuntu applications

2010-01-06 Thread AYourk
What will it take to get some sort of "official" support for just the
support libraries. I could care less about the compiler stuff. I've
seen other compatibility libraries in the repositories before. To me an
example would be libdb1-compat. Even if all that happens is having
comment #17 become the official "work-around" until something better
comes along, that would be nice.

IMHO, the whole point of this bug report is to see what can be done to
get support of 3rd party apps that rely on libstdc++5 in Ubuntu Karmic
and beyond; even if this libstdc++5 would be considered depricated and
have all 3rd party venders move onto newer and better things.

If this bug discussion needs to be moved elsewhere, please let us know
where we need to move it to.

[Bug 501715] Re: ureadahead doesn't free memory after profile

2010-01-06 Thread Jonathan Michalon
Same issue here with normal up-to-date Karmic.
I was trying to trigger a re-profiling and ran
  ureadahead --force-trace
The memory usage increased immediately and was never released. I only realized
afterwards that this wasn't the good approach for doing what I wanted, and
removed merely the pack. After next reboot, memory was high, get never free'd
after some time but another reboot later all was normal.
It seems I've understood why sometimes a huge amount of my 1Go memory was
eaten... the strange thing is this memory doesn't show in any monitor like top
etc.

I am not computer literate enough to follow the instructions that you

For me to do anything on a P.C., the instructions have to be the same as

bring them together and turn in opposite direction".

Thank's again, and keep up the good work. I know enough to prefer this

[Bug 502615] Re: /etc/cron.daily/spamassassin should restart amavisd

2010-01-06 Thread Imre Gergely
That's why I said IF it supports it. I checked and after amavis version
2.0 it is recommended one uses amavisd reload (and not HUP), which in
fact does a restart (on Karmic at least).

Maybe somebody with a little more experience with amavis should take a
look at this.

I would say if somebody enables sa-update in crontab, they should at
least have an option to reload/restart amavis, too. Maybe a
RESTART_AMAVIS={0|1} option in /etc/default/spamassassin, after the
CRON=0 option, which can be turned on/off if one uses amavis and really
wants to restart it on every sa-update.

Batch printing is an absolute must in Ubuntu.
We should be able to print all selected files at once.

[Bug 474102] Re: clock applet freezes for up to 2 seconds at a time

2010-01-06 Thread piratemurray
This affects me too with the same symptons as yoda was experiencing
(time skipping for two seconds/ erratic seconds counting). I'll try the
backtrace thing that Pedro mentioned.

Just to confirm I'm running pretty much the same spec as yoda (Karmic
x86 upgraded from Jaunty). I've got a Lucid 64 at home that I could
compare it against if you think that would be useful?

[Bug 82082] Re: herd2. wodim couldn't be set suid.

2010-01-06 Thread Schily
It is wrong not to use the bus id's. This has been in the documentation
since 1996 and this did never change. The person who created the fork
wodim just does not understand the constraints in the Linux kernel and
gives wrong advise.

As mentioned above already, wodim is a defective fork from an extremely
old version of cdrecord and wodim is unmaintained. Wodim incorrectly
interfaces to hald and for this reason, it under some condifions is completely
unable to open the writer device. Note that all known issues with wodim go
away if you upgrade to recent original software from:

ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/

Reopening, the crash is fixed with the patch but it turns out that the

[Bug 494627] Re: nv driver crashing with segmentation fault in libpthread.so.0

2010-01-06 Thread Michael Vogt
This patch for xserver-core fixed the crash for me. The colors are also
correct (when reverting the stub gamme_set back to NULL) because xorg
uses the old-sytle colormap code in this case.

** Attachment added: "Fix crash when gamme_set in the driver is NULL"
