[Bug 597681] [NEW] Include ORCFeeder into the repo.
Public bug reported: OCRFeeder is an optical character recognition program for the GNOME desktop; it is capable of taking an image and using one of the OCR engines (already in the repo) it will extract text. It is currently the only GUI-based program for doing this, and I would ask for it to be considered on the default install (should it also be possible to make space for an OCR engine as well, of course) License; GPL v3 I believe it is considered an official GNOME application. [Bug 597683] [NEW] Mercurial mode in emacs not packaged properly
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mercurial-common After upgrading, emacs complained about not being able to find the file mercurial, which is required in my .emacrc. Looking at my 9.10 system, the file it wants is /usr/share/emacs/site- lisp/mercurial.el, which is owned by mercurial-common. On my 10.04 system, mercurial-common includes /usr/share/emacs/site- lisp/mq.el, but not mercurial.el. [Bug 578673] Re: [arrandale] Resume doesn't work on a Latitude E6410
I can confirm that Carlos workaround works! Thanks. The only problem is that in this case we have to use the framebuffer xorg driver, that does not support composition. Now we know that the problem is restricted to two subsystems: 1) The kernel mode setting code (in the kernel) 2) The intel xorg driver. I have a tendency to think the the problem is in the kernel. Maybe it is time to open a bug report upstream (in the kernel bugzilla)? Or do the others think that we should open the but in th xorg driver? Obs: I have a very good experience with this approach. Two and a half years ago I bought I Toshiba U205 laptop and suspend did not work either. After fiddling around with some help I (and others) found out that the problem was in the HD driver. We opened a bug in kernel bugzilla and the problem was solved very fast. The key here is that the bug had clearly identified the problematic subsystem and then the kernel hacker responsible for that subsystem responded very fast. I was very happy on being able to help to solve the bug in my laptop and many others Toshiba models. -- [arrandale] Resume doesn't work on a Latitude E6410 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/578673 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Although I've never tried it before, I will give it a go and try to create a new desktop install cd. Coming up later today! Re: [Bug 454124] Re: [LENOVO 2746AQG] late resume failure [non-free: nvidia]
Hi there, I'm still having issues with suspend/hibernate on 10.04. I made a fresh install, but it still doesn't work. However it behaves differently now: when I try to suspend, the machine seems to initiate the whole procedure, saving everything into disk (I'm guessing here), locking my screen and turning off the devices (it even turns off the screen), but right before entering the suspended state (which I call when the suspend indicator -moon- is flashing), it freezes and the only way to bypass this is by forcing the powering off by pressing the power button several seconds. I have tried reading the logs, but I don't seem to find anything weird at least in the syslog. Please let me know if you want me to provide more technical details about my machine and installation, I'll be happy to do it so. Muchas gracias! [Bug 597141] Re: No alert/warning when sync conflicts
Why this is set to "wishlist". What I try to tell you is that automatically creating "conflict"-files without warning can produce dataloss on open files. Thes files gets overwritten with an old version if the user isn't aware of the conflict! And I think this is realy bad! I work with openoffice an tiddlywiki. And the u1-client has overwriten both of this files. The only solution is, that I check for conflict files before each save, and that's not realy a solution. So I had to stop using u1.
