[Bug 770204] [NEW] Suggestion for improvement a2enmod reload apache message
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apache2 When I a2ensite/a2dissite, a2enmod prints a message about having to type /etc/init.d/apache2 reload to activate this change. [Bug 767218] Re: Guest machines crashed during apt-get update/upgrade on Lucid
Serge and Leo, We are using hardware RAID, no multipath. We did not preserve any of host or VM syslog or bootlog entries from that time. The messages.log shows a kernel restart at 12:31:16 on VM01. We also have the postgres logs and they show a restart 2011-04-05 12:31:23 ... database system was interrupted; last known at 2011-04-05 12:22:24 ... incomplete... database system was not properly shut down; automatic recovery in progress ... the database system is starting up ... unexpected blah, blah ...starting up and all was well after that. VM02 also has a postgres log and it shows a restart at 12:32:13 which is probably when I manually restarted the VM. I'm pretty sure that both VM's got shut down. I watched them disappear from the desktop tray (lower right) and when I got the gui VM manager back up on the host, they were NOT running. From the host Gnome gui, I run a couple of bash shells, a master system monitor (so I can see ALL of the cpu's) and then I launch the gui VM manager, launch a console for each VM, toss them into desktops 3/4 of the host and then start 'em. [Bug 735072] Re: The hostname proposed by installer is too long for file sharing to work correctly.
The source code in the official samba git (source/lib/util.c) seems to use HOST_NAME_MAX and I found an inconsistency in the code base: source/lib/replace/replace.h: 384 #ifndef HOST_NAME_MAX 385 #define HOST_NAME_MAX 255 source/lib/replace/system/network.h 269 #ifndef HOST_NAME_MAX 270 #define HOST_NAME_MAX 256 Which one is used? Then here is what I think my problem is: The function get_myname() in util.c uses char hostname[HOST_NAME_MAX]; Another function in the same file, set_netbios_aliases(), blindly uses this hostname through helper functions without checking its boundaries to match those of a valid NetBIOS name. Now I could be wrong since I just took 5 minutes to check the source code while also skimming this link: http://www.tech-faq.com/netbios-names.html How this is supposed to work out of the box when windows machines, or osx for that matter, only recognizes NetBIOS names of length 15 is beyond me. Checked the package from -proposed and the typo is corrected in /etc/init/vsftpd.conf (emply - empty). The packages upgrades ok, and /var/run/vsftpd/empty gets created at startup. [Bug 690248] Re: In Maverick 'About Ubuntu' displays Natty info
The machine where I'm having this problem is a virtual machine, so I'm able to snapshot it and make changes I otherwise might not. So when I finished my work in the virtual machine, I created a snapshot, then removed ubuntu-docs and reinstalled it. This downgraded it from 10.10.5 to 10.10.4ubuntu0.1. That eliminated the problem--now, when I go to System About Ubuntu, it again correctly indicates my Ubuntu release as 10.10. @Nicolas Mongrain-Lacombe Are you completely sure that your ubuntu-docs version is 10.10.4ubuntu0.1? Has it possibly been upgraded to 10.10.5 from maverick-proposed recently, triggering the behavior similar to this bug? What is the output of apt-cache policy ubuntu-docs? [Bug 769923] Re: Unity screenshots in new main page are inconsistent
Hi Dylan, thanks for the bug report. I see what you mean with regards to the unity-shell.png and unity.png files. You are correct in that they were taken from different desktops. We can get that corrected. As for the unity-launcher-intro, unity-dash-intro, and unity-workspace- intro files, I see a slight wandering of that line between launcher and desktop, but I hadn't really intended to keep that line consistent. At least, it wasn't a concern when I was initially was creating the images. I was just trying to find a way to graphically represent the different desktop components. I will see what I can do to get rid of the wandering of that line, though. We have a lot to fix with the docs right now, so the line wandering issue will need to be a lower priority. It should be easier to address the unity-shell.png and unity.png file issues, though. ** Changed in: gnome-user-docs (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: gnome-user-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: gnome-user-docs (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Jim Campbell (jwcampbell) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/769923 Title: Unity screenshots in new main page are inconsistent -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
