[Bug 863633] Re: compiz crashed with SIGABRT on VGA monitor plugin

2011-10-08 Thread Bluelake3
Weird. I haven't seen any oddities on my machine. So I can't reproduce.

Could you get a stack trace and should I reopen this bug?

[Bug 818177] Re: boot failures because 'udevadm exit' times out while udevd waits for an already-dead thread

2011-10-08 Thread Steve Langasek
The root error is that in worker_new(), at lines 353 ff., the worker
threads process signals and udev event handling requests in the same
loop. If it happens that both the signal and the event are received
close enough together to be returned in the same epoll_wait(), and the
udev_monitor handle is listed *first* in the epoll_event list, the
worker will receive the event message (which increases the refcount on
the udevd master side), then process the signal, and immediately exit
without handling the event.

This should be handled by processing fd_signal first, and only if
SIGTERM was not received, process fd_monitor. This ensures that we
always exit ASAP after receiving the signal, instead of going off and
processing another event that could take an indeterminate amount of
time.

[Bug 775543] Re: xhci_hcd: Timeout while waiting for a slot - Issue with USB3 hard disk on 11.04 x86_64

2011-10-08 Thread henning
on a fresh kubuntu 11.04 installation i mostly have exactly the same
symptoms as first poster except that after adding pci=nomsi to
/etc/default/grub my usb 3.0 disk is detected sometimes. Never directly
after boot if plugged in but every 3rd time or so if plugged in after
boot. Perhaps time out for device wakeup is too short? Hope it's a
useful clue

[Bug 818177] Re: boot failures because 'udevadm exit' times out while udevd waits for an already-dead thread

2011-10-08 Thread Steve Langasek
Tried that; doesn't work because the master process already thinks the
event is dispatched as soon as it sends it, whether or not the worker
process acts on it with recvmsg(). So I guess we need to try to process
the event after all.

2011-10-08 Thread Swâmi Petaramesh
Bug is more than 2 years, old, "confirmed", really annoying, probably
affecting much more people than those who took the time to report it,
probably easy checking and fixing, still "undecided" and "unassigned".
So what ? Should we start torturing kitten until somebody puts a helping
hand on it ?

[Bug 863156] Re: Brightness unchangeable via keyboard or brightness applet Acer Aspire 5750-9668

2011-10-08 Thread Brad Figg
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue.

However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during
any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all.
Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request
further testing. This is such a request.

We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel
than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test
again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still
exists or not.

If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to
Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from
Incomplete to Fix Released.

Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it.

[Bug 845864] Re: painfully slow recharge time when booted off battery

[Bug 752881] Re: suspend triggered via dbus message on laptop fails

[Bug 870522] [NEW] Rhythmbox does not add music to library from external hard drive

2011-10-08 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.04 - the Natty Narwhal
Rhythmbox 0.13.3

I've spent the last few hours today trying to get Rhythmbox to add my
music collection to my library. It's set up with the hard drive as the
Library Location in Edit --> Preferences --> Music and with 'Watch my
library for new files' ticked. It's my own fault, as I started Rhythmbox
without the HDD turned on, didn't think, and chose 'Import Errors' and
then "Remove', losing the whole library. I didn't mind, because when I
have loaded it before, it didn't take too long.

This time, however, I switched it on, checked the Rhythmbox settings and
waited. After nothing happening for a while, I selected 'Music -->
Import Folder...' and chosen the folder on the external HDD. If I choose
an album folder (with 10 songs on it) the indicator in the bottom right
hand corner has an orange segment going backwards and forwards, and says
'Importing (0/10)', but nothing seems to happen (yet, for a long time).

Re: [Bug 395819] Re: Gnome-Do Preventing Suspend

2011-10-08 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
There seems to be a pattern here - everyone with problems seems to be
indexing files NFSv3 mounts, and this is where the kernel trace shows
suspend is dying.

I'm not really sure what we could be doing to make NFS unhappy, though,
and it's not a setup that I personally have.

I suspect that this is an NFS bug we're hitting, but I'm not sure how or
what.

[Bug 858306] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 00000001 // nouveau_fence_update+0xe/0xe0 [nouveau] -- (Using Google Earth 6)
