[Bug 870360] Re: [HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC, IDT 92HD75B3X5, Internal] Speakers not disabled when headphone jack plugged in

2011-10-12 Thread David Henningsson
The Jack stuff is interesting - I wonder if these two headphone jacks actually
is connected to the same pin perhaps? Could you install snd-hda-tools from
https://launchpad.net/~diwic/+archive/ppa/+build/2768994/+files/snd-hda-tools_0.20110516%7Eoneiric1_amd64.deb

and then run "sudo hda-jack-sense-test -a" - with different jacks plugged and
unplugged (e g try both headphone jacks independently) you should be able to
figure out with node number belongs to which jack.

[Bug 871611] Re: [TOSHIBA NB100, Realtek ALC262, Green Headphone Out, Rear] volume slider problem

2011-10-12 Thread David Henningsson
Aha, I now discovered there is an existing quirk in the driver, we could
consider removing it. Could you modify
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

And add this line:
options snd-hda-intel model=auto

...then reboot (or alsa force-reload) the system?

And if the above in combination with the DKMS packages still does not
work, could you file an alsa-info ( see wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo )
with that combination? Thanks!

Re: [Bug 858412] Re: Regression: Logitech webcam microphone makes "chipmunk" sound after Oneiric beta upgrade

2011-10-12 Thread Christian Heitjan
Sorry, I'm not a developer so I don't know, how to test an upstream
kernel on my (private but productive) machine.

Can I help with other things?

[Bug 801978] Re: unity window manager ignores input

2011-10-12 Thread John McFarlane
I experience this behavior every few days (Oneiric). The only
resolution I've found is to log out and back in again (unity --reset
only fixes it for a few minutes, before the problem comes back). I also
haven't been able to determine any sort of usage pattern that causes it.

[Bug 872701] [NEW] Cannot enter correct password after suspend

2011-10-12 Thread Michael Nelson
Public bug reported:

STR:
 1) Suspend the computer
 2) Resume so that screen lock dialog waits for password
 3) Set correct keyboard layout and enter password
 4) Returned to desktop

AR:
At step 3, no matter which keyboard layout I set (I have US and US-dvorak and
toggle with double-shift) the password which I enter is never accepted. I am
forced to switch to a tty, login there (with the same password) and kill X - or
is there an easier workaround where I can unlock the screensaver with a command?

Note: I use multiple layouts on another oneiric laptop and do not see
this issue.

[Bug 872246] Re: clicking on launcher icon does not restore minimized application

2011-10-12 Thread Fritz Heinrichmeyer
For me the right arrow seems to indicate the focus for an application in
the launcher, so maybe the error is simply that a minimized application
can get the focus.

[Bug 854590] Re: oom_adj and -DLINUX_OOM_ADJ=0 should be used

2011-10-12 Thread Martin Pitt
I committed the -DLINUX_OOM_ADJ=0 part to postgresql-9.1 packaging bzr.
Will look at the init script counterpart soon.

[Bug 872701] Re: Not possible to enter correct password after screen lock

2011-10-12 Thread Michael Nelson
** Summary changed:

- Cannot enter correct password after suspend
+ Not possible to enter correct password after screen lock

** Description changed:

  STR:
- 1) Suspend the computer
- 2) Resume so that screen lock dialog waits for password
- 3) Set correct keyboard layout and enter password
- 4) Returned to desktop
+  1) Lock the screen
+  2) Move mouse to force password dialog to appear
+  3) Set correct keyboard layout and enter password
+  4) Returned to desktop

  AR:
- At step 3, no matter which keyboard layout I set (I have US and US-dvorak
and toggle with double-shift) the password which I enter is never accepted. I
am forced to switch to a tty, login there (with the same password) and kill X -
or is there an easier workaround where I can unlock the screensaver with a
command?

[Bug 835502] Re: postgres-contrib-9.1 does not expand MODULE_PATHNAME

2011-10-12 Thread Martin Pitt
Thanks for your report. I confirm this problem.

I asked upstream whether it's a packaging bug or a bug in the upstream
Makefiles. I'll fix it either way, I'd just prefer having it fixed right
upstream as this doesn't look Debian/Ubuntu specific either way.

[Bug 677300] Re: python2.6 assert failure: python: tpp.c:63: __pthread_tpp_change_priority: Assertion `new_prio == -1 || (new_prio >= __sched_fifo_min_prio && new_prio <= __sched_fifo_max_prio)' faile

2011-10-12 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Neal McBurnett, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. However, there are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in
Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

Please test for this problem in LibreOffice. If using Lucid or Maverick
feel free to type at the Terminal:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa && sudo apt-get update &&
sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-writer

For more on LibreOffice installation, please see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LibreOffice Please follow these instructions to
have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by
the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 872711] [NEW] Kernel does not report some USB printers correctly, making them not being detected by CUPS

2011-10-12 Thread Till Kamppeter
Public bug reported:

See the following CUPS upstream bug report:

http://www.cups.org/str.php?L3884

Users complain that their USB printers do not get detected by CUPS and
so they cannot set them up for printing. In the last comment it is told
that the kernel is the culprit and a link to a patch proposal on the
Kernel mailing list is given:

http://lkml.org/lkml/2011/9/25/57

The patch attached there is supposed to solve the problem.

I have also a printer (HP Color LaserJet CM3530 MFP) which is only
detected by the HPLIP CUPS backend (this backend uses another detection
method but is only avaiolable for HP printers) and not by CUPS' own
backend, so I can reproduce the bug.

I did not test the kernel patch.

[Bug 872706] Re: Kernel panic when "Securly remove device" from Unity

2011-10-12 Thread Brad Figg
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue.

However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during
any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all.
Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request
further testing. This is such a request.

We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel
than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test
again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still
exists or not.

If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to
Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from
Incomplete to Fix Released.

Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it.

Unfortunately the attached log file does not say anything interesting.
Is this reproducible with

? Please attach /var/log/postgresql/postgresql-8.4-main.log

Thanks!
