[Bug 884185] Re: Please merge cdebootstrap 0.5.8 (universe) from debian unstable

2011-12-03 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
Hi Leo,

This debdiff looks better.

To check the NO_PKG_MANGLE part, please try to build it without the
patch, using a ppa or using a local build tool where pkgbinarymangler is
installed. You can also try to reproduce it in an old chroot (intrepid
or older).

Thanks!

Fabrice

[Bug 878493] Re: oneiric intel i815 dri segmentation fault (Speicherzugriffsfehler)

2011-12-03 Thread uhu
With Lubuntu, I added the file /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-intel.conf

with the following content:

Section Device
Identifier card0
Driver intel
Option DRI false
EndSection

The idea came from https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/21927
The comment by Norbert (Pusi85) - Friday, 10 December 2010, 00:27 GMT-5
suggests to add this file into /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
that might be the path for ubuntu (i am using Lubuntu, as stated above)

Now stellarium works, but damn slow. But its an old notebook anyway.

[Bug 899645] [NEW] Keyboard indicator does not update with current application

2011-12-03 Thread tebeka
Public bug reported:

When setting the keyboard configuration to Allow different layouts for

[Bug 898791] Re: long table at end of .doc document cut off

2011-12-03 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Christopher Barrington-Leigh, thank you for taking the time to report
this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting
is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send
the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions
at http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport . If you have done so,
please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can
add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

- Here is a not-recent .doc file which has a table that goes more than one
- page. As shown in the graphic, LibreOffice does not allow me to see the
- second half or so of the table! It should be that I can scroll down
- further to see the rest of it, or even that it is split between two
- pages.

[Bug 876135] Re: The filters have no names when saving a file

2011-12-03 Thread -beer30-
Scans are saving in .jpg, .tif, .tiff and .png when choosing to scan as
a photo. Scan will save as .tif (was not sure which other formats to
try to save as) when scanned as text.

Running Oneiric 64 bit on an i7 machine I put together. Can provide
logs and can dig deeper, just not sure which logs apply.

Thanks!

2011/12/3 Phil. V 899...@bugs.launchpad.net

In 11.10 (11.04 might have it too) a feature called 'overlay scrollbars'
was added, making it easier to change the size of windows. When your
mouse is in the general vicinity of a window scroll area, a handy slider
appears, giving you more surface area to click (or touch, as we're
getting ready for the increased prevalence of touch screens). If you
would like that functionality please consider upgrading. Since this was
fixed in a later version of Ubuntu I'm going to mark this as fix
 released.

 Title:
an advice about changing size of a windows by mouse

 Status in Ubuntu:
   Fix Released

 Bug description:
I am not sure if this is a bug, nor if it is acceptable to report it
  here.

When I need to change the size of a window(for example firefox), I
need to move my cursor exactly on the frame, which is just one thread
of pixel. It's too hard to aim at that line so that I am always
  clicking at wrong place.

I notice that fedora handle this by seting this area more pixels. when
the cursor is still a few pixels near, the cursor has changed so that
I can easily change the size of a windows.

  Will this be worth considering?

[Bug 899647] [NEW] When I try to change backgrounds to a previously selected background it won't let me open it.

2011-12-03 Thread Jack Vanatta
Public bug reported:

Found in 11.10 Oneiric 64 bit.
I changed my background to one of the stock backgrounds, when I went to change

it would not let me open it. I had to make a copy of the file with a different
name to open it.

[Bug 805613] Re: mutt treats email address as file name when using attachments

2011-12-03 Thread Alex Ng
The man page for mutt has for the -a option:

   -a file [...]
Attach a file to your message using MIME. When attaching single
or multiple files, separating filenames and recipient addresses with -- is
mandatory, e.g.
  mutt -a image.jpg -- addr1 or mutt -a img.jpg *.png -- addr1
addr2. The -a option must be placed at the end of command line options.

so it would appear the double dash '--' is mandatory, and is working as
designed.

[Bug 739242] Re: You need to restart the computer doesn't let you restart the computer

the only thing i dont like about this, is the fact that you have/need to
restart. A large benefit to using non-windows OS's is not having to
restart.

i think the overall issue this papercut attempts to resolve is an actual
bug. This would be a band-aid.

I tried to install Ubuntu 11.10 onto my new computer, but when I ran
the installing, all I could get was a black screen. I could Install
Ubuntu 10.10 and upgrade my way to Ubuntu 11.10. To do this I had to
upgrade to Ubuntu 11.04, then install the graphics drivers and then
upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10. If this step was skipped then after the
upgrade I would get a black screen. I think this problem is because
Ubuntu 11.04 was the final release that carried the old basic gnome
shell. I have a Radeon graphics card. If you need more information
  just let me know.

[Bug 887794] Re: ubuntu log out automatically

2011-12-03 Thread Enternix
I have the same problem: Bug #899531 (already marked as duplicate).
Since I removed Ubuntu 11.04 and installed 11.10, the system crashes nearly
everyday without any prior warning and the login-screen appears. The same
behavior in Gnome 3. Only LXDE seems to work (no crashes since I installed it
before 10 days).

I wonder if it would be possible to specify a particular workspace as
not having the launcher and panel, so you could launch your game thing
over there and not have the launcher pop up over it, or ctrl+alt+cursors
to a different workspace (perhaps one with a fullscreen gedit) and hit
the super key and have the launcher appear.

Actually, this bug applies to more than just Ubuntu 11.10. Since the
menus are still valid in Ubuntu 10.04, this bug is still valid. As for
unity, if you are a visually disabled user, just type Onboard can be
very frustrating. Perhaps this is still valid, especially for Ubuntu
10.04.

[Bug 899629] Re: gcc -lpthread a.c causes problem; gcc a.c -lpthread doesn't

2011-12-03 Thread Julian Taylor
this is caused by the linker flag --as-needed now default from 11.10 onwards.
This flag requires objects to be placed before libraries providing the symbols
they need.
It can be disabled with -Wl,--no-as-needed but its generaly preferable to just
order the commandline correctly.

[Bug 898852] Re: Kernel freeze when on battery - Compaq nc6400

2011-12-03 Thread Emmanuel Castro
I've tested with 3.2.0rc4. It still freezes, but not the same way. It freezes
more slowly (reproduced 3 times).
At first, I can move the mouse, but the clicks and the keystrokes fail.
Some background applications still operate (I could see a blinking cursor on a
gnome-terminal), but there is no way to interact with them.

However I can switch to the text mode consoles (Alt+Ctrl+F1 or F2...).
Sometimes I can type in, but I does not last long (just the time to type
my login, no chance to type the password - If I ever get the password
prompt).

At this point, I could use SysRq. You find 3 files attached.
I noticed that both Cpu stacks are at: cpuidle_idle_call+0xab/0x1d0

Before that, I noticed that (may its normal):
When I put the laptop on battery
[ 116.498481] Monitor-Mwait will be used to enter C-3 state
[ 116.861874] EXT4-fs (sda3): re-mounted. Opts: errors=remount-ro,commit=600
[ 116.866674] EXT4-fs (sda6): re-mounted. Opts: commit=600

I've let the laptop alone for a few seconds and I got that.

[Bug 899671] [NEW] Aisleriot Freecell does not report the game number

2011-12-03 Thread Liam Proven
Public bug reported:

When starting a new Freecell game, Aisleriot does not show the game
number (the seed value from which the card layout was generated.)

All other Freecell games on all platforms I've tried do this, so that
you can record when you lose a game and retry it later, exchange hard
games with your friends and so on. This includes Win32 Freecell, Windows
7 Freecell, the 3rd party Freecell Plus, the Mac OS X Freecell by the
late Alisdair McDiarmid of http://randomoracle.org/ and so on.

This is not a bug but a feature request, but I can't find any author or
any direct contact for the team to report it. This is the only way I
know, I'm afraid.

Associated functionality: enter a game number to retry a previous game,
as opposed to just getting a new random game every time.

[Bug 899670] [NEW] Nautilus crashes when opening folder with .JPF file

[Bug 899669] [NEW] Screen Corruption and crash after Gnome Shell login

2011-12-03 Thread The Bright Side
Public bug reported:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit into Gnome Shell
2. Observe black flashing squares near Activities button

Observed results:
I'm on 11.10 Gnome Shell, and about once a day, there's a screen corruption
around the Activities button right after boot: a random group of black
squares flashing on and off.

If I continue working, the corruption will get worse, and the top of the
screen fills with garbage spreading from left to right. See attached
screenshots.

Eventually, Ubuntu crashes to the login screen.

Only occurs right after login. If it doesn't happen then, it never
happens, so right now, when I see it, I log out and back in and I'm
good.

[Bug 899663] Re: Sync mpi4py 1.2.2-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2011-12-03 Thread Bhavani Shankar
Hi Bradley,

As per the release schedule here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PrecisePangolin/ReleaseSchedule

We are far behind the debian import freeze deadline;until which packages
from debian will be auto synced in ubuntu provided the current ubuntu
package in the repositories is unchanged from debian(which is precisely
the scenario here). So I would suggest waiting for a while before going
ahead with this request.

Regards,
Bhavani
