[Bug 923744] [NEW] smbclient messaging not responding to control-D
Public bug reported: sharing is working properly from My computer to the windows 7 computer generally, I transfer files from Nautilus without difficulty; however when I try to smbclient -M to the windows 7 computer, that has winsent Innocenti LAN messenger, winpopup compatible, although no msg.exe – replacement for net send – in system32, so as far as I know windows 7 home premium is thus capable of receiving messages although not sending them, it initially connects then seems to ignore the control-D 'end of message' code, it's as though smbclient itself is not responding. There is no sign that the control-D action is at all recognized in smbclient. A control-C works, naturally without sending the message though. Before I installed Innocenti the smbclient -M command was refusing to connect/prompt for a message at all, so it looks as though the windows side of it is working at least basically. mark@mycomputer:~$ smbclient -U Mark -M WINDOWS-PC Enter Mark's password: Type your message, ending it with a Control-D Hi there! cli_message returned NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT as requested in the apport-bug preliminaries, the result of smbclient -L localhost mark@mycomputer:~$ smbclient -L localhost Enter mark's password: Domain=[WORKGROUP] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.5.8] Sharename Type Comment - --- print$ Disk Printer Drivers print Disk IPC$IPC IPC Service (MyComputer server (Samba, Ubuntu)) MyPrinter Printer My Printer Domain=[WORKGROUP] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.5.8] Server Comment ---- WINDOWS-PC MYCOMPUTER MyComputer server (Samba, Ubuntu) WorkgroupMaster ---- WORKGROUPMYCOMPUTER the result of smbclient -U Mark -L WINDOWS-PC $ smbclient -U Mark -L WINDOWS-PC Enter Mark's password: Domain=[WINDOWS-PC] OS=[Windows 7 Home Premium 7600] Server=[Windows 7 Home Premium 6.1] Sharename Type Comment - --- PrinterNamePrinter PrinterName ADMIN$ Disk Remote Admin C$ Disk Default share D$ Disk Default share E$ Disk Default share IPC$IPC Remote IPC print$ Disk Printer Drivers Users Disk Server Comment ---- WorkgroupMaster ---- Looking forward to hearing from someone :-) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: smbclient 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-13.54-generic 2.6.38.8 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-13-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: wl Architecture: i386 Date: Mon Jan 30 14:53:21 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Netbook 10.04 Lucid Lynx - Release i386 (20100429.4) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SambaClientRegression: Yes SourcePackage: samba UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-05-30 (245 days ago) ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 natty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/923744 Title: smbclient messaging not responding to control-D To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/923744/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Re: [Bug 569757] Re: NIS upstart dependency broken for lucid
Excerpts from Jeremy Yoder's message of Fri Jan 27 17:22:47 UTC 2012: Thanks for working on this! Once you get Oneiric/Precise working, are you planning to fix this in Lucid? Lucid is still going to be around for a few more years :) I will discuss it with my fellow SRU team members. I think its worth fixing like this, and the patch is straight forward enough. But changing from sysv controlled to upstart is a rather radical change so some users might not appreciate the change. There is room for trusted boot work, especially as a demonstrable, better, and more flexible alternative to the uefi-based 'secure boot'. But this list is not right. Particularly for a useful server solution, I'm thinking it might be better to wait until after LTS. I will be taking some time to meet with the involved people, however, to get a clearer idea of current status. --Serge -- Trusted Cloud https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/servercloud-p-trusted-cloud -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 913833] Re: dcraw and ufraw need to be updated
Based upon the wiki and Dave Coffins web site, the latest stable version is 9.11, Oct 7, 2011 and provides support for the Canon SX30 IS and Canon EOS 600D which several of my friends and I had purchased a while back, and as dcraw is a tool used to accomplish work, we are quite anxious to see it updated so we can get back to work. The 8.99 build is quite old now, and it appears that even Ubuntu 12.04 plans to keep it. This is quite disconcerting for those of us who moved from MS Windows to a Linux OS in order to reduce the problems which prevented us from doing our work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/913833 Title: dcraw and ufraw need to be updated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dcraw/+bug/913833/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 896603] Re: plugin-container keeps running
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/Mozilla. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance. I'd say this bug is even more serious than what you described because as you can see from bug 635023 that left-over process quite often consumes considerable resources. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/896603 Title: plugin-container keeps running To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/896603/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 923625] [NEW] [Fixed]Block migration fails because it uses to much memory
Public bug reported: Till libvirt version 0.9.8-2ubuntu6 block migration was not usable with large images because the full image size got allocated in memory. How to reproduce (Need two servers): Short description: 1. Start a block migration 2. Watch if VIRT and RES memory increases substantial Long description: 1. Create a new virtual machine with a bigger raw image than memory; don't use qcow,qed... (virt-manager for the lazy) 2. Create on the second server an image on same the path with the exactly same size 2.1 use 'ls -l path/to/image' to geht the size in bytes (first server) 2.2 'touch path/to/image' to create a new image (second server) 3.3 'truncate --size size in bytes from step 2.1 path/to/image' to set the image size immediately if the fs supports holes (second server) 4. Start the virsh console on the first server: 'virsh --connect=qemu:///system' 5. Start a block migration 'migrate --live --copy-storage-all --persistent --undefinesource --verbose name of the vm qemu+ssh://ip of the second server/system' 6.Enter the ssh password 7. The process oom's because it allocates the full image size in memory (Can take some time depending on your disk speed and memory size) Note: This is fixed in 0.9.8-2ubuntu7. Will try to debug this and report back then. ** Tags removed: verification-done ** Tags added: verification-needed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878934 Title: Menu selection is wrong in Java apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/878934/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
