[Bug 1057929] [NEW] compiz process running but plugin bindings lost
Public bug reported: In about 50 % of boots after login - although compiz process is running, I cannot use the key/mouse bindings. Not sure if all plugins affected, but at least "Desktop Wall", "Scale Windows" or "Application Switcher". It already happened also during work that at some point I noticed that the bindings are not working any more although after login they did. Pressing ALT+F2 and executing a compiz --replace fixes the problem then - which is for me not a real problem but the normal user would need to google a lot until finding out and probably tries multiple re-logins for getting lucky. [Bug 605967] Re: System freezes when battery powered
** Tags added: apport-collected precise ** Description changed: Laptop ASUS X51R freezes when battery powered with Ubuntu 10.04 No problems when AC powered. Two scenarios to reproduce the problem: a) 1. Boot up Ubuntu with AC supply disconnected but battery powered. 2. Ubuntu will freeze somewhere during boot process before login screen is displayed. I think it happens around the time X is started. In most cases get fancy patterns displayed on screen, more rarely screen stays blank. b) 1. Boot up Ubuntu with AC supply connected. 2. Logon to the system. 3. Gnome Desktop is displayed. 4. Pull the plug of AC. 5. It takes about 1 or 2 seconds. Screen freezes. Laptop is more or less useless for me without the possibility of using it battery powered. I am a quite experienced C/C++/Java application programmer, but know few to nothing about system programming. However you could come back to me and guide me in which logs to look or what to do to trace down the problem. [Bug 1057929] Re: compiz process running but plugin bindings lost
I should mention that I have changed - or better to say - added a lot of bindings, mostly for the mouse because I want the same efficiency using keyboard AND mouse. Most important bindings - that are mostly those, where I first notice if they are not working: a) Left and right mouse button on the bottom edge to switch to desktop on the left or right. b) Left and right mouse button on the top edge to switch to last window considering only current or all desktops. c) Move mouse to bottom right corner to get thumbnails of all windows and choose by click (Scale Windows plugin). Attached you find my compiz profile. Not sure if relevant: I have also changed desktop layout to 4x1 instead 2x2. ** Attachment added: "ccsm profile exported (without defaults)" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1057929/+attachment/3350896/+files/Ubuntu-12.04-Unity-CompizSettings-Modified.profile -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1057929 Title: compiz process running but plugin bindings lost To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1057929/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1052322] Re: Screen goes black short after grub
Kernel Module crash gma500_gfx. See http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/1362447 The minimum infos are very simple :-) 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem Steps: Booting the system 2. the behavior you expected, and Expecting a running kernel ( shell or x ) 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). A black screen. It's a tablet so no serial console or other possibilities to debug. Sorry :-( -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1052322 Title: Screen goes black short after grub To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1052322/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1053292] Re: update-manager crashed with RuntimeError in /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/gi/overrides/Gtk.py: Gtk couldn't be initialized
I concur with Anne, or at least with the solution. I had recently run software-updater under quantal (beta), and foolishly clicked on the partial upgrade option. The system no longer booted properly. tty7 was left with boot messages, but no logon prompt. I logged in under tty1 and ran > startx& and this gave me my desktop icons, but no unity plugin stuff (launcher & status bar). I also ran > unity& but this complained about no display being set (default = 0 ???), and maybe something about looking for a "core" library. Anyways, I also had been using apt-get to update upgrade dist-upgrade no no avail. So when I ran... > sudo apt-get purge update-manager > sudo apt-get install update-manager and rebooted, I was pleasantly surprised that everything was working again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1053292 Title: update-manager crashed with RuntimeError in /usr/lib/python3/dist- packages/gi/overrides/Gtk.py: Gtk couldn't be initialized To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1053292/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1057943] [NEW] Set oem-config/remove-extras to false will cause packages in /var/lib/ubiquity/apt-removed is not being removed
Public bug reported: There is a preseed called "oem-config/remove-extras" in ubiquity, if this preseed set true , it will try to remove packages that were not part of the base install and are not needed by the final system. if set "oem-config/remove-extras" pressed to false, this will cause every ubiquity plugin which use install_misc.record_removed() method didn't remove the package in the OOBE phase. which is, packages already recorded in /var/lib/ubiquity/apt-removed , but it's not being removed in the oem-config.
