[Bug 1200878] Re: Upgrade breaks existing pyjuju deployment

2013-08-17 Thread John A Meinel
I don't think this is strictly a bug in 'juju-core', more of a bug in
the packaging. (Namely saucy has a package named juju which is a meta
package that installs juju-core, while IIRC python-juju is no longer
available on Saucy.)

If this was just 'apt-get upgrade' I would probably agree it shouldn't
break things. If it is apt-get dist-upgrade then it isn't terrible.

The one thing we could consider is that juju status with juju-core
could notice the environment is python-juju and fail with a nicer error.

Unfortunately the new requirement of a certificate means we don't even
get far enough to read the bootstrap-verify file in provider storage.

[Bug 1202839] Re: qemu-bridge-helper missing from qemu-kvm or elsewhere

2013-08-17 Thread Calendros
It is great to have the qemu-bridge-helper binary though if someone like
me does not want to use libvirt. With a note in a README in
/usr/share/doc/ signaling the suid or cap_net_admin was missing, it
would be more useful than just removing the binary.

In quantal, adding the right permission was easy. In raring I had to
take the binary from quantal distribution (hopefully the binary and
linked libraries are compatible).

So please consider to add the binary again in some package since someone
could easily install the package and add the permission to qemu-bridge-
helper if one wants to do it.

[Bug 990129] Re: Suspend/Resume hangs and fails - Ubuntu 12.04LTS

2013-08-17 Thread Andrew
Just to add some more information - This is not just limited to
Suspending.

If I perform a Suspend once, my laptop will also not power off correctly
- It will go through the power down sequence, and then hang when the
shutdown terminal displays Powering Off, and will sit there forever
until I manually power down the system.

So, this means that I'm able to suspend successfully once, and then
unable to perform any other ACPI functions without having to manually
power off and power on my laptop using the hardware buttons.

Can the rest of you confirm whether you are able to successfully power
off after performing one suspend?

Knowing that this issue is not limited to the suspend function broadens
the scope, and also may help pin down what the issue is.

[Bug 989191] Re: Asus Zenbook UX31E powers off on plugin in/out AC adapter

2013-08-17 Thread Oleksij Rempel
Just to notice,
i have this notebook too. This hardware was affected by USB suspend bug. One
common thing on it is that this laptop can go down in misconfigured state.
After power on it will stay misconfigured intill it will be configured and
power down properly.

So, if you compare different settings, try to power down and power up
with this setting before actuall test. If you do not do this, your test
will drive you creasy. With windows it is not reproducable untill you
start to use linux.

[Bug 1213322] [NEW] Sync dh-make-perl 0.79-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-08-17 Thread Damyan Ivanov
Public bug reported:

Please sync dh-make-perl 0.79-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Changelog entries since current saucy version 0.76-1:

dh-make-perl (0.79-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * silence a warning when reporting about a core-satisfied dependency without
a version
  * fix problems with perl 5.18:
(Closes: #719829)
+ fix missing =back in Debian::Control::Stanza::CommaSeparated POD
+ sort a couple of hash key walks breaking tests with perl 5.18
  * remove the trailing slash from ustream/watch URLs
  * drop usage of experimental given/when in Packaging.pm
  * rework --only internal representation to be a hash
  * t/dists.t: rework running dh-make-perl and give all diagnostics when a
test fails
  * fix special handling of changed copyright years
  * make dh-make-perl report its version on every invocation

 -- Damyan Ivanov d...@debian.org  Fri, 16 Aug 2013 14:00:30 +0200

dh-make-perl (0.78-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * add $VERSION to all modules
  * use strict; use warnings; everywhere
  * fix a bunch of typos thanks to Test::Spelling

 -- Damyan Ivanov d...@debian.org  Fri, 09 Aug 2013 14:39:07 +0200

dh-make-perl (0.77-1) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Salvatore Bonaccorso ]
  * Bump version for DhMakePerl to 0.77
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.4
  * Create packages with Standards-Version 3.9.4.
Adjust default Standards-Versions in DhMakePerl::Command::Packaging to
3.9.4.
Bump Standards-Version in debian/control for tests to 3.9.4.
  * Use metacpan.org instead of search.cpan.org.
Use https://metacpan.org instead of http://search.cpan.org in
debian/watch, debian/copyright and debian/control files.
Adjust the test files using https://metacpan.org.
  * Change Vcs-Git to canonical URI (git://anonscm.debian.org)
  * Use anonscm.debian.org for source location in debian/copyright
  * Create Vcs-Git with canonical URI (git://anonscm.debian.org)
(Closes: #697876)

  [ Damyan Ivanov ]
  * add test about handling user:pass@ in sources.list URLs
  * add debian/source/{format,local-options}. shut up, lintian :)

  [ gregor herrmann ]
  * DhMakePerl::Command::Packaging: honour command line options
for packagename/version in extract_name_ver.

  [ Nathan Handler ]
  * Email change: nhandler - nhand...@debian.org

  [ Dima Kogan ]
  * Not importing IO::Dir since I'm not using it
  * better handling of upstream-supplied debian/ directories. If we are
making a git repo I now remove debian/ directory if the upstream ships
it. This goes into the 'master' branch, so the 'upstream' branch
contains the original debian/ directory, and thus matches the
pristine-tar

  [ gregor herrmann ]
  * DhMakePerl::Command::make: Try to guess tarball name when run from an
unpacked source directory.
  * DhMakePerl::Command::Packaging: Don't sanitize version if given on the
command line.
  * Update years of copyright.
  * DhMakePerl::Command::Packaging: replace This library with the module
name in the long description, like we already did with This module.

  [ Axel Beckert ]
  * DhMakePerl::Command::make: Call git_add_debian before build_package
and install_package to not add files generated during the package
build process to the git repository.
  * Add patch by Matthew Gabeler-Lee to understand packages named
-vX.Y.Z. (Closes: #701140)
  * Fix fatal: pathspec '…' did not match any files error of git
add. (Closes: #659526)
  * Add option --build-source to build .dsc file (c.f. #645011). Also add
a cpan2dsc 'flavour' of dh-make-perl. If it is called by that name,
the behaviour changes for easy .dsc creation.
  * Mention cpan2deb and cpan2dsc in the long description.
  * Add myself to Uploaders.

  [ Oleg Gashev ]
  * Fixed timestamp regexp to t/dists.t file. If time zone is EDT, failed
tests from t/dists.t file: Generated tree matches template. Problem
with incorrect timestamp regexp.

  [ Damyan Ivanov ]
  * Dependency: assume '=' relationship if missing when constructing from
hash /usr/share/perl5/Debian/Dependency.pm line 157. Thanks to Robert
Norris for his patience and his excellent analysis. (Closes: #704480)
  * exclude README in the root directory from .docs in 9x% we remove it
from .docs afterwards this change is a bit of a big gun, because it
doesn't really check if README is autogenerated, but hey, fixing a 90%
false-positive hit is better than introducing a 10% false-negative hit
(Closes: #608936)
  * drop mangling versions like 2.003004 into 2.3.4 this partially reverts
385451609f5af2ace92c3838133dd4ed2c605608 see there for the reasoning
back in 2010 (TODO is interesting) the fix seems to cause more
problems than it solves. matching cpan-version to debian version is
dark area

  [ gregor herrmann ]
  * Fix tests for .docs generation.
  * Fix tests for version mangling.
  * debian/control: one 'perl' is enough. Thanks to lintian.

  [ Damyan Ivanov ]
  * use dh 9

[Bug 515865] Re: Wrong Fallback Video Renderer playing MPEG4(NUV)

2013-08-17 Thread madbiologist
Your NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS is an NV40 series card and has a VPE2 video
decoding engine. According to the VPE2 details in the Nouveau Wiki at
http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/VideoAcceleration/

* MPEG4 and H.264 decoding is not possible via VDPAU.
* MPEG1/2 decoding is possible via VDPAU but is not implemented yet.
* Only MPEG1/2 decoding is possible via XvMC, but you will need a Kernel 3.11
and mesa-git. The good news is that you don't need any firmware.
* To use XvMC, you need to point your /etc/X11/XvMCConfig at the
libXvMCnouveau.so library (single line with the full path).

The under-development Ubuntu 13.10 currently has the 3.11.0-2.5 kernel,
which is based on the upstream 3.11-rc5 kernel. If it doesn't already
have a new enough version of mesa it probably will by the time of it's
final release in October 2013. If you want to install the 3.11 kernel
on an earlier Ubuntu release, you can get it in a PPA from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ and instructions on how
to install an uninstall it are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds

You can install the latest mesa on an pre-13.10 versions of Ubuntu by
using the xorg-edgers PPA at https://launchpad.net/~xorg-
edgers/+archive/ppa

So it looks like your original MPEG4 use case is not possible via GPU
hardware acceleration, although I'm not sure why xv-blit is not
producing any images for you. It's probably worth re-testing on a more
recent version of Ubuntu.

[Bug 810182] Re: unity_support_test crashed with SIGSEGV

2013-08-17 Thread Colin Law
Bug #1213319 has just been marked as a dup of this, but since it has only just
started happening following an update to nux-tools to
4.0.2+13.10.20130816.2-0ubuntu1 on Saucy it is difficult to see how it can be
the same bug that is marked with Oneiric as a milestone on nux and is marked
fix released on Precise. Could it be a new bug?
Strangely Bug #1213319 seems to be inaccessible at the moment, hopefully just a

[Bug 1213335] [NEW] Tuxguitar behaves as if Control key is pressed for keyboard shortcuts

2013-08-17 Thread Simon Volpert
Public bug reported:

When working in Tuxguitar, pressing any key which has a Control-key
shortcut assigned to it in the shortcuts list, the Control-key action
occurs instead of the key action. For example, when pressing the 2
key to insert a note, the second voice (assigned to Control-2) is
selected instead; When pressing o to make the current note a ghost
note, the save-before-opening-a-file dialog (assigned to Control-o)
appears instead.

Ubuntu 13.04

[Bug 1213336] [NEW] postgresql renders ' ' ' as ' ' in a returned query from kexi

2013-08-17 Thread Anne Wainwright
Public bug reported:

This is fixed in current stable kexi 2.7.1 but (using Mint 14 Nadia =
Ubuntu Quantal) we are only up to 2.5.3

currently every exported data set has to be run through a perl script to
handle the effects of this in various ways. thus:

'quoting issues in postgresql' shows as quoting issues in postgresql
postgresql's shows as postgresqls
programmers'  shows as postgresqls

can we get this upgraded please?

[Bug 1212821] Re: Unity fails to load on old hardware on Saucy

2013-08-17 Thread Colin Law
I have the next release of nux-tools (4.0.2+13.10.20130816.2-0ubuntu1)
but still see the issue. In fact now I am also seeing unity-support-
test crash (bug #1213319). Since that bug has been marked a dup of bug
#810182 which was marked fix released in January 2012 I am not sure what
to do.

[Bug 1213130] Re: libreoffice writer extension manager failed on installing Language Tool extension with java exception

2013-08-17 Thread Sasa Paporovic
Sry Christopher, but that missed completetly what happend.

apport do not detect the problem and the

var/crash/

folder is already completly emty. A recreation do not trigger any apport
action.

Apport was and is already enabled in its configuration files. So a
forced start is not necessary at all and a missing crash report is not
caused by a disabled apport.

The dbg files is a point I can do, but the stacktrace libreoffice brings
up seems to be complete already. I performing this now, but to not
expect that the stacktrace get a improving from this.

greetings

 melchiaros

Public bug reported:

System: Ubuntu 13.04
Update-manager version: 0.186.1

After starting update-manager and checking for new update, not all updates are
shown.
The size of updates to be downloaded matches the size of the updates shown by
apt-get upgrade.
Please see the attached screen shots (German language) for further information.

I expect that all updates available are shown in the top window section.

Best regards and thanks for the support

[Bug 1213342] [NEW] gnome power manager : do nothing if battery critical

2013-08-17 Thread hemmi7
Public bug reported:

The Standard choice within a freshly installed Ubuntu is to: Do
nothing if the battery reaches critical low level.

This choice already killed 3 of my batteries, because I forgot to change this
to shut down.
Then the laptop rund until the Battery was totally empty, which (especially in
case of already slightly olde batteries) killed them.

I can understand the need, that you in special usecases would like to have
this.
But it is just too dangerous for the hardwares of the ubuntu users to have do
nothing activated as standard option.

[Bug 1213130] Re: libreoffice writer extension manager failed on installing Language Tool extension with java exception

2013-08-17 Thread Sasa Paporovic
I have found the problem.

Oh, just the same as you have just wrote Daniel.

It was the missing libreoffice-java-common package that is needed to
install Language Tool with success.

The problem was identified on:

http://languagetool.org/issues/

with:

On Ubuntu, install the libreoffice-java-common or openoffice.org-java-common
package. One problem solved by this is getting a long error message with
NoClassDefFoundError during installation. See this blog posting for details.

the stacktrace on

http://languagetool.org/images/class_not_found.png

was the same.

So, after installing libreoffice-java-common package all works fine.

[Bug 1213322] Re: Sync dh-make-perl 0.79-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2013-08-17 Thread Daniel Holbach
This bug was fixed in the package dh-make-perl - 0.79-1
Sponsored for Damyan Ivanov (dmn-debian)

---
dh-make-perl (0.79-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * silence a warning when reporting about a core-satisfied dependency without
a version
  * fix problems with perl 5.18:
(Closes: #719829)
+ fix missing =back in Debian::Control::Stanza::CommaSeparated POD

  * Bump version for DhMakePerl to 0.77
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.4
  * Create packages with Standards-Version 3.9.4.
Adjust default Standards-Versions in DhMakePerl::Command::Packaging to
3.9.4.
Bump Standards-Version in debian/control for tests to 3.9.4.
  * Use metacpan.org instead of search.cpan.org.
Use https://metacpan.org instead of http://search.cpan.org in
debian/watch, debian/copyright and debian/control files.
Adjust the test files using https://metacpan.org.
  * Change Vcs-Git to canonical URI (git://anonscm.debian.org)
  * Use anonscm.debian.org for source location in debian/copyright
  * Create Vcs-Git with canonical URI (git://anonscm.debian.org)
(Closes: #697876)

  [ Damyan Ivanov ]
  * add test about handling user:pass@ in sources.list URLs
  * add debian/source/{format,local-options}. shut up, lintian :)

  [ gregor herrmann ]
  * DhMakePerl::Command::Packaging: honour command line options
for packagename/version in extract_name_ver.

  [ Nathan Handler ]
  * Email change: nhandler - nhand...@debian.org

  * Update years of copyright.
  * DhMakePerl::Command::Packaging: replace This library with the module
name in the long description, like we already did with This module.

  [ Axel Beckert ]
  * DhMakePerl::Command::make: Call git_add_debian before build_package
and install_package to not add files generated during the package
build process to the git repository.
  * Add myself to Uploaders.

  * use dh 9 for arch:any packages to get

[Bug 1213339] Re: Update-Manager doesn't show all updates

2013-08-17 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu
better.

I have the same weird issue with update-manager 1:0.186.1 on Ubuntu
13.04. According to the updates indicator, 19 updates are available,
though only five of them are listed when I open the update-manager. As
for you, I get the complete list when running `apt-get dist-upgrade`.

[Bug 1213353] [NEW] Software Updater requires installation of untrusted packages

2013-08-17 Thread markling
Public bug reported:

Software updater tells me it requires installation of untrusted
packages. It says, This requires installing packages from untrusted
sources.

But it does not tell me what packages are untrusted. It does not tell me
what untrusted sources it is required to retrieve packages from. And it
does not tell me why these packages and sources are untrusted. It
neither offers any way of learning this information.

It also denies me any choice in the matter. The warning dialogue has two
actions. One is settings, which is clearly useful for anyone who
already knows the answers to the unanswered questions raised above. The
other is OK, an invitation to go ahead and install the anonymous
untrusted packages from the anonymous untrusted sources. There is no
option to decline the installation of these packages.

Being a user of but little knowledge, it just so happens that the little
knowledge I have tells me not to install anonymous untrusted packages
from untrusted sources. It's the sort of thing parents tell their
children nowadays after saying they shouldn't talk to strangers.

So I do the only thing I can, short of spending a week of nights and
weeks more nights to learn what it is all about. (If only I had so much
time). I close X the window and hope it goes away. But it has come
back again. I think it might keep coming back. What if it's an important
piece of software? What if my operating system fails because I won't let
it install anonymous untrusted packages from untrusted sources? And what
oh! of the tragic irony if I end up getting malicious anonymous
untrusted packages from untrusted sources getting in through a breach in
my security left by my refusal to install anonymous untrusted packages
from untrusted sources?

[Bug 1213354] [NEW] Add bookmark to Ubuntu Forums in Firefox default

2013-08-17 Thread Lars Noodén
Public bug reported:

When a new Firefox profile is created in Saucy, it includes a list of Ubuntu
and Free Software links by default. That
list includes a link to Launchpad but not to the Ubuntu Forums. Launchpad is
for bugs not for getting help and there is nothing directly where users can get
help, beginner or otherwise. Adding a link to the Forums would help the very
new users find online help.

The default bookmarks list of Ubuntu and Free Software links should
