[Bug 1247388] [NEW] Mouse cursor disapear / mouse stops working, when switching user
Public bug reported: I have upgraded to Ubuntu 13.10 Gnome3 amd64, from Ubuntu 13.04 x86 where I used both Unity, KDE and Gnome, and in the old setup it worked fine. Now when I select switch user , I come out to the login screen and the mouse cursor is gone. Switching back to the first user the mouse is back. If the second user with no cursor runs: sudo modprobe -r psmouse sudo modprobe pmouse the mouse works again, but then it stops working for the first user. It could alse be that the cursor is still ther but it doesn't move. I run a Dell laptop with a Synaptics touchpad. [Bug 1247390] [NEW] Unity 8 indicators mixed with Unity 7
Public bug reported: Hi, I installed Unity 8 from the Software Center on Ubuntu 13.10, along with all main apps (web-browser, gallery...) just out of curiosity (I have no coding abilities whatsoever). But now, every time I boot my computer, I get two different network indicators on my Unity 7 panel. The second one has a small lock on it, and is the Unity 8 indicator. Whenever I run Unity 8 in a terminal and then close it, the indicator disappears. On a similar note, the same kind of mix happens when I receive a message on Empathy. Phone and SMS appear in my messaging menu and the message is treated as both phone call and SMS. This is more problematic because it prevents me from opening a conversation in Empathy (even when I go directly in Empathy, the window won't open). I guess some parts of Unity 8 load at startup, but I don't which, how or why... But after all, it's very nice seeing these hints of future convergence! [Bug 1244619]
Hi, I had the same problem, and still had it with 24.1.0. Then I found this workaround which solves the problem. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! a. mv ~/.thunderbird in ~/.thunderbird.old b. update thunderbird (I had to do it as root) c. run the new version of thunderbird (as user), skipping all the suggestions to create an email account d. install lightning (I also installed google calendar provider; you may need to reinstall more) e. restart thunderbird f. copied back everithing from ~/.thunderbird.old/some random string ~/.thunderbird to the new ~/.thunderbird/some other random string besides the following: _CACHE_CLEAN_ chrome extensions extensions.ini TestPilotExperimentFiles Note that I COPIED and not MOVED them back, because in case of problems I wanted to be able to delete the new ~/.thunderbird directory without losing anything. Maybe I could have copied back some more file, but everything seems to work. So in my opinion, there is some file left from old installs in those directories, that disturbs the new version of Lightning. [Bug 1227687] Re: [MEDION UIM2080] Kernel 3.2.0-53-generic-pae freeze very often after update from 3.2.0-52-generic-pae
Kaiser Alexander, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.12-rc7 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Bug 1181828] Re: macbook air 2,1 no sound
acidjunk, the only thing needed for marking this bug as ready to be worked on is this: 1. Search if the bug has already been reported in http://www.debian.org/Bugs/. 2. If it hasn't, report it following these instructions: http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting. 3. Here in Launchpad, at the beginning of this report , unfold the flange preceding ALSA driver. 3. In the unfolded parameters, in the field URL, paste the URL where the report for Debian is already written. This will take you no more than 15 minutes. [Bug 1245147] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 does not boot from USB drive formatted in ext4
I have tried again performing another installation from the CD-rom but again grub does not start. The usb light is flashing few times and then it stops. I forgot to say that the usb is 3.0. Could be the problem? But why the live installed on the same key it is working? Does grub depends on the i915 or radeon drivers? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1245147 Title: Ubuntu 13.10 does not boot from USB drive formatted in ext4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1245147/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1243607] Re: Ubuntu 13.10 pl2303 hl340 64 bits problem
dcialdella, as per http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/K55A/#support an update is available for your BIOS (407). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? [Bug 1239417] Re: ls /vagrant fails in 13.10 vagrant cloud image
This issue is VirtualBox (and kernel 3.11) related. Latest version of VirtualBox 4.3 fixes this error. https://www.virtualbox.org/changeset/48529/vbox Unfortunatelly, the newest version of VirtualBox isn't available in Ubuntu repos. You need to manually download and install it from here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads . So how to fix it for Vagrant? Well, you need to do 2 things: 1. Update VirtualBox to newest version on your host machine (https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads) 2. When using official Ubuntu 13.10 box for Vagrant, you need to update it's Guest Additions so it matches the host version of VirtualBox. 2a. Or you can wait till Ubuntu adds newest version of VirtualBox to it's repos, so the box will have VirtualBox 4.3 installed, so to say, out of the box ;) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1239417 Title: ls /vagrant fails in 13.10 vagrant cloud image To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1239417/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1239417] Re: ls /vagrant fails in 13.10 vagrant cloud image
I assumed Ubuntu is used as a host machine, my bad. I now reread the original post and saw that Mac OS X is used. What I mean is that you need VirtualBox 4.3 Guest Additions on the guest Ubuntu 13.10, but official Ubuntu 13.10 box has only VirtualBox 4.2.16. Since the Guest Additions version must match the host machine VirtualBox version, it means you need VirtualBox 4.3 on your host machine as well. When you manage to install Guest Additions for version 4.3 on the Ubuntu 13.10 box, you can then save it for later use as described here: http://docs-v1.vagrantup.com/v1/docs/getting-started/packaging.html -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1239417 Title: ls /vagrant fails in 13.10 vagrant cloud image To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1239417/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1245159] Re: Keyboard activity and mouse movements often interpreted as mouse clicks
Maybe. There was a similar bug with everything being double-clicks. Here the mouse will click once on its own, not twice. Though if they piggyback on a click they turn that into a double click. In that the system was unusable for any purpose beyond testing the bug. In this, the system is almost usable but for the risk of accidents. [Bug 1247397] Re: pandaboard: under gdb, any program crashes with SIGILL
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1247397/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. Mickey: Thank you for posting your results after your (probably) time consuming research. This used to work flawlessly with nouveau and (apparently) never with the blob.
