[Bug 1284635] Re: Keyboard layout changes after login
I seem to have had 2 separate issues with the keyboard. The first being the text console was using US Keyboard settings rather than UK. I think this may be related to console-setup not being able to be installed. I installed the Mar 16 2014 daily xubuntu snapshot into virtual box, and can confirm that console-setup was installed and keyboard appears to function as expected. Second issue was incorrect keyboard settings in X11. Should be UK but appear to run as US. I seemed to find 2 seperate workarounds for this. 1) from terminal run sudo apt-get remove ibus iBus appears to be some kind of new input device manager. I assume this is not yet configured to learn the installed language. 2) Configure iBus Right click the iBus / Keyboard indicator in the notification area, and select preferences. Click Input Method tab Click customise active input methods Click select an input method drop down, and choose English - English (UK, extgended WinKeys) Click Add Close windows Logout / Login or restart the ibus indicator Hope this helps Woody -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1284635 Title: Keyboard layout changes after login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus/+bug/1284635/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 751689] Re: [Lenovo Thinkpad x201s] Overheat due to slow fans when on 'auto'
It isn't don't care so much as it is that the bug lies in the laptop's bios, not linux. I'm not competent to say whether it's in the bios, but for the sake of discussion I can accept that. But it's noticeable that some of the reports here are indicating that things were better in the past, then got worse with later revisions of Ubuntu. Doesn't that indicate that, regardless of where the bug lies, there is the possibility of working around it outside the bios? Phillip, I don't feel you should dismiss Mark so hastily. That all said, clearly it's a problem that will be difficult for developers to reproduce, and which factors such as exact hardware revision, bios revision, thickness of fluff in the fan duct (!) and much else will all influence. Good accurate reporting will be needed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/751689 Title: [Lenovo Thinkpad x201s] Overheat due to slow fans when on 'auto' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/751689/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1293243] [NEW] Compiz causes vertical tearing
Public bug reported: Compiz causes noticeable vertical tearing (NOT horizontal tearing) inside windows. It appears that there's a column ~450 pixels wide near the left side of the screen that is redrawn at a slightly different time. I first noticed this when scrolling and switching tabs in Chrome or Firefox. It's most visible when rapidly switching between tabs with different background colours. Enabling the force full screen redraws (buffer swap) on repaint workaround in CCSM fixes the issue completely. Re: [Bug 1291105] Re: After using spd-say (with pico TTS) with the root account, spd-say stops working for users
I've actually got a better idea. Instead of checking the user id, we can use XDG_RUNTIME_DIR as a base for the wav file. So something like $XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/speech-dispatcher. That will be cleaned up when the user logs out, and nobody then knows that another user is using speech- dispatcher's generic synth mechanism. Probably not really a security issue, but is still cleaner as this file is temporary for only the logged in user, and only for their session. I'll go ahead and implement this unless you have an objection. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1291105 Title: After using spd-say (with pico TTS) with the root account, spd-say stops working for users To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/speech-dispatcher/+bug/1291105/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1290717]
If you still run the stable database (from Akonadi 1.11) that you tried to update to 1.12, could any of you please open Akonadi Console, go to DB Console tab and run following query: SELECT DISTINCT(name) FROM PartTable; and post it's output here? The problem you ran into can only happen when some of they part names don't have NAMESPACE:NAME format, which should not happen, but it's possible that there are some legacy names I missed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to akonadi in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1290717 Title: akonadi 1.11.80 fails to start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/akonadi/+bug/1290717/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1290717]
Ha! We found the culprit. GID is not supposed to be there, it's not a part. It looks like after an update you started KMail, but did not restart Akonadi, so KMail was sending the GID data, but Akonadi did not know it so it though it's a part type. You can run following query in DB Console to get rid of it: DELETE FROM PartTable WHERE name = 'GID'; This will fix the migration to 1.12 for you. I'll add a check to Akonadi to prevent this from happening to others. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1290717 Title: akonadi 1.11.80 fails to start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/akonadi/+bug/1290717/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1237556] Re: cryptsetup removed from initrd.img on upgrade to 13.10
It actually is a bug in Ubuntu because: 1. The /etc/crypttab was autogenerated during the installation. I never touched it before. The warning was always there. 2. A WARNING, in a file that actually has 1 valid cryptsetup line shouldn't lead to NOT including the cryptsetup tool in the initrd image. It is a WARNING, not an ERROR. [Bug 1293287] [NEW] xubuntu 14.04 'xfdesktop --reload' no longer cycles wallpaper image
Public bug reported: In the past I have relied on the following behavior (still) described in the xfdesktop man page to change my desktop wallpaper: -R, --reload Causes an already-running instance of xfdesktop to reload all its settings, including loading a new random backdrop if using a backdrop list. I realize that the wallpaper image code is significantly improved in 14.04, however this feature seems to have gone missing. I also realize that there are built in options to rotate the wallpaper automatically in a variety of ways, however the particular method I like to use (rotate at set times, like hour:00, hour:30, etc.) isn't one of those options. If 'xfdesktop --reload' were fixed to do the rotation again my old script would work, problem solved. :) If that's not possible then consider this a feature request to add the ability to schedule rotation every N minutes relative to the top of the hour (as opposed to relative to log in, which it does now). To reproduce: 1. Right-click on desktop, choose Desktop Settings 2. Under the Folder: pull down menu choose a folder with multiple images 3. Optional: Click Change the Background, choose Every hour from the pull down, and check the Random Order box 4. Click Close 5. On the command line, run 'xfdesktop --reload' The desktop should refresh itself, but nothing will happen to the wallpaper FWIW, the way that it worked for many releases of XFCE prior to xubuntu 14.04 was to go to Desktop Settings and configure an image list without checking the change the background box. Then 'xfdesktop --reload' just did the rotation randomly. ** Affects: xfdesktop4 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1293287 Title: xubuntu 14.04 'xfdesktop --reload' no longer cycles wallpaper image To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfdesktop4/+bug/1293287/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
