[Bug 1312734] Re: thumbnails of files don't load and causes high cpu usage
Hello, I'm terribly sorry but I can't reproduce the issue. Today I've realized a high CPU usage and finally discovered that was a thumbnail problem in Nautilus, the thumbnails didn't showed and raised the CPU and the temperature too high. After browsing in askubuntu.com I've seen a person with another problem related to thumbnails in Ubuntu 13.10 but his experience has given me the clue. So, I've deleted two hidden folders named "thumbnails" in my /home and now is all ok. It's for that reason that I've asked to close the bug and I'm not able to reproduce the situation. Anyways, I don't have any problem if you consider don't close and wait if the problem comes again. Thank you very much for your help!! I apologize for the wrong report, I should search before..., but I swear that gnome-system-monitor and htop didn't showed the "guilty process"... I also apoligize for my English, it isn't my language, so I hope you can understand me. [Bug 1297464] Re: 1002:6739 14.04 randomly reboots
No need to run any bisecting. You can see where the change was with cgit ( https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux- stable.git/commit/?id=919cf555c04e16dafb1fba56904eb23889a812c3 ). Technically, it's not fixed upstream. They just applied the aforementioned workaround of disabling DPM for Northern Islands until they figure out how to fix it. Another bug report on bugzilla related to the bug can be found here: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68571 which shows how even with kernel 3.14, manually enabling DPM, since it is disabled by default now, with radeon.dpm=1 still causes the problems. In kernel 3.12 and prior, DPM was disabled by default since it was buggy, but for some reason it was enabled by default with 3.13, leading to these problems. ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #68571 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68571 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1297464 Title: 1002:6739 14.04 randomly reboots To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1297464/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1312800] [NEW] Lubuntu 14.04 Huge increase in idle RAM usage
Public bug reported: Idle RAM usage has hugely increased from Lubuntu 13.10 to 14.04. Also inconsistencies point to problems. ISO: The RAM usage on the ISO went from 95 to 98 MB (in VirtualBox) without update-notifier & nm-applet running. With these running (as they were in 13.10), new RAM would have been 105 MB. This might be normal as sometimes programs get more RAM intensive. However, installed/upgraded systems usually consume less RAM. A fresh install of Lubuntu 14.04 yielded about 135 MB and 125 MB, which is a huge increase. When I upgraded to 14.04, my RAM usage went from about 90 MB to 140 MB (with update-notifier & nm-apple running, and to 130 without them running. That is a 50% increase. There seems to be a real problem, not just programs getting bigger and one that is also problematic in a lightweight distro. Note: There seems to be a lot of problems with lxsession-default-apps, among them update-notifier & nm-applet not starting. This might or might not be related. I can see a lot of new users just dumping Lubuntu because they cannot get their wifi or network to work. I know it is under Known Issues but most people don't read docs. Thanks for the hard work. [Bug 1312518] Re: Printing from Firefox - Document moves to Queue, but is stopped, does not print
C Wachob, you do not need to send any files any more. We have found out what happened. The client (Firefox) sends the attribute "PageSize=Custom.Custom.595.28x841.89" to CUPS along with the print job. This attribute is invalid. It must read "PageSize=Custom.595.28x841.89" or simply "PageSize=A4". This is an old problem (bug 998156) which is already solved in the graphical user interface toolkit GTK 3.x (this provides the print dialog). Due to Firefox still using GTK 2.x the problem is still present there. What needs to get fixed here is either to backport the fix in GTK 3.x into GTK 2.x or to migrate Firefox to the current, maintained GTK 3.x. Therefore I am moving this bug to GTK 2.x and Firefox. It would be too awkward and not the correct solution to make CUPS and all CUPS filters understand "PageSize=Custom.Custom.595.28x841.89". C Wachob, for the time being either use Chromium or print into a PDF file and then open the PDF and print it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1312518 Title: Printing from Firefox - Document moves to Queue, but is stopped, does not print To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1312518/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1312532] Re: [systemd] Container startup fails on missing lxcbr0
For the record: I turned /etc/init/lxc-net.conf into a shell script that you call with "start" or "stop". [Bug 1185756] Re: drbd8-utils not compatible with linux-lts-raring kernel in 12.04

Ok, so... all seems to look ok from the side of appmenu-qt5 here. I will be looking more on Monday, but I have also added unity as a possible culprit since there is some probability it's not appmenu-qt5 fault. [Bug 1312782] Re: syscrash on 'Enable Wireless'
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1312782/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1224732] Re: Custom keyboard shortcuts don't work
Still no joy with ccsm, although I may have identified more of the issue. If I setup a commandline and try to invoke with some of the more "special' keys, e.g. "Brightness Up" that I have on my daskeyboard, it "grabs" the key combination as "XF86Launch6", or "XF86Launch5" for brightness down, or "XF86Eject", for eject (as I have no optical media drive I reassign this for other things) If I pick a standard key like "F12", the command line executes. I'm not knowledgeable enough about the input system to know what the differences are between a "standard" key and an "emulated XF86" one and the ways they are interpreted by the system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1224732 Title: Custom keyboard shortcuts don't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1224732/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1308714] Re: sudo pip install installs into the system dist-packages by default
After talking with Matthias, I think I understand the gist of this bug. Let's say I apt-get install python3.4 (well, a modified package that re- enables the ensurepip module). Now I use pyvenv-3.4 to create a virtual environment. With ensurepip enabled, /bin will contain pip, pip3, and pip3.4 executables. If you enter the venv (by sourcing bin/activate), those will do the right thing by installing into the venv. However, let's say you move those aside and apt-get install python3-pip. Now enter the venv and run pip3 install enum34. That package will get installed into /usr/lib/python3.4/site-packages! Not dist-packages, and not /usr/local. That seems bad, but I'm not sure how bad it will be in practice. If we re-enable ensurepip as in LP: #1290847 then first off, anybody entering the venv will use the /bin/pip script instead and that will work as expected. You'd have to actively manipulate your venv in a way that I don't think makes much sense, or if you do it, you know what your doing (or think you do :). If you don't run system pip3 as root, you just get the expected permission denied. There's still the possibility that you enter the venv, delete /bin/pip*, apt-get install python3-pip, and sudo pip3 install something. Yes, that will lead to broken stuff and you pretty much had to willfully want to break your system, but if that's really a problem, then python3-pip could be changed to refuse to run if sys.prefix != sys.base_prefix (i.e. you are in a virtual environment). That would force you to use the ensurepip installed pip* executables. But of course then we'd have to resolve the problems with ensurepip. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1308714 Title: sudo pip install installs into the system dist-packages by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-pip/+bug/1308714/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
