[Bug 1312834] [NEW] Mouse pointer won't move with two fingers on trackpad

2014-04-25 Thread James Robb
Public bug reported:

Hello,

The mouse pointer does not move when I have two fingers on the touchpad.
I am using a mac-like touchpad, produced by dell. The model is the
Dell Inspiron 15 7000.

The way I usually use my touchpad is that I use my middle finger on my
right hand to move the pointer, and the middle finger on my left hand to
activate the left and right click buttons. I also have taken advantage
of the AreaBottomEdge parameter as shown below.

What happens is that I usually have my middle finger or thumb on my left
hand resting on the left click button. Since this new laptop though, I
seem not to be able to do this.

If I have a finger (either thumb or middle finger) resting on the left
click button, and then go to use my middle finger on my right hand to
move the pointer, it will not move.

What I have to do, for example when trying to do a drag and drop
operation, is make sure to have no fingers resting on the touchpad
before attempting to move the pointer. I must then use my left hand to
press down on the left click button, and then only at that point can I
use my right hand to manipulate the position of the pointer.

What I would think the intended functionality should be is that any and
all finger motion outside of the active touch area should be completely
dis-regarded, with the exception of physical click events (no taps).
This would almost certainly alleviate the issue at hand.

What additional information can I provide to make this easier to debug
and solve? See my included stats below:

[Bug 1312422] Re: PyOpenCL and PyCUDA compatibility

2014-04-25 Thread larson.eri...@gmail.com
After removing everything related to CUDA and OpenCL (everything with
those names in Synaptic), I do `sudo apt-get install python-pycuda
python-pyopencl` and get:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 python-pyopencl : Depends: libopencl-1.1-1
   Depends: libopencl-1.2-1
Depends: ocl-icd-libopencl1 but it is not going to be
installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

If I only do `sudo apt-get install python-pycuda`, it installs. But then for
`sudo apt-get install python-pyopencl` I get:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 python-pyopencl : Depends: libopencl-1.1-1
   Depends: libopencl-1.2-1
Depends: ocl-icd-libopencl1 but it is not going to be
installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

If I then uninstall everything related to OpenCL and CUDA (by searching for
these names in Synaptic) again, and do `sudo apt-get install python-pyopencl`,
it succeeds. If I then do `sudo apt-get install python-pycuda` I get:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
python-pycuda : Depends: nvidia-cuda-toolkit but it is not going to be
installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Let me know if there are other commands I should run to help diagnose
why the package says its broken.

[Bug 1312849] [NEW] kcheckpass fails due to not chmoded 4755

2014-04-25 Thread Jim Peterson
Public bug reported:

In a fresh install of Kubuntu 14.04 (brand new hard drive for root FS,
old, 13.04 hard drive for /home), when I lock the screen via ctrl-alt-L
or suspend and resume, the password entry box rejects my password with
unlocking failed. I've tracked this down to kcheckpass returning with
an exit code of 1. When I did sudo chmod 4755

[Bug 1312852] [NEW] Liferea doesn't open items in external browser

2014-04-25 Thread Jacek Bilski
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to trusty Liferea stopped opening items in external
browser. So far when I double-clicked an item a new tab was opened in my
Firefox. Right now double-clicking an item results in target page being
rendered in preview pane. It doesn't matter how Liferea is configured,
Open links in Liferea's window doesn't change the behaviour, as well
as browser choice or choosing how to open an item in a browser (new
window, tab, browser default, etc.).

[Bug 1271144] Re: br0 not brought up by cloud-init script with MAAS provider

This appears to be happening again on juju-core 1.18.1. When I attempted
to create a new lxc container on the bootstrapped node (machine: 0), I
received a lxc-start error. After reviewing this bug report, I manually
added in the br0 interface into /etc/network/interfaces and ran ifup

[Bug 1312854] [NEW] dh-apache2 causes a postinst failure when a package depends on an apache2-bin provided module

2014-04-25 Thread Robie Basak
Public bug reported:

If I install apache2 at the same time as libapache2-mod-svn, then it is
possible that both packages are unpacked, but libapache2-mod-svn is
configured first.

This is causing our subversion dep8 test to fail, since it installs
libapache2-mod-svn and apache2 together. I presume this will affect
Debian also. I suppose a workaround for now is to have the test install
apache2 first.

[Bug 1312853] [NEW] 3.5.0-49-generic made Sabrent USB-G1000 network card nonfunctional

2014-04-25 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Public bug reported:

Today's Ubuntu 12.04 Server 64-bit Kernel Upgraded (from
3.5.0-48-generic to 3.5.0-49-generic) made Sabrent USB-G1000 network
card nonfunctional.

Before the upgrade, this is the kernel I was running:
3.5.0-48-generic

Today, ubuntu server suggested updating to kernel 3.5.0-49. After this,
this network card no longer functioned:

Sabrent USB-G1000: USB 2.0 TO GIGABIT 10/100/1000 ETHERNET ADAPTER NETWORK
RJ-45 CONVERTER
Link: http://www.sabrent.com/category/networking/USB-G1000/

I held down the shift key while the server was booting, and I was able
to get the network card functioning again by booting from the previous
3.5.0-47-generic kernel. For some reason, at that time it though 48 was
the one I had upgraded to, but later I realized it was actually 49.

Using the 3.5.0-47-generic, I was able to see a little information about
this device with the following command:

sudo lshw -C network

[Bug 1303438] Re: Reveal after enabling Auto-hide Launcher does not work.

2014-04-25 Thread aaz_swapnil
Same issue for me. When the launcher auto hides, if I move the mouse to
the left edge of the screen, there is an animation at the edge, like a
thin shadow coming in. If I keep the pointer touched to the edge and
keep moving the mouse left, after traveling about half a keyboard lenght
after the pointer touched the edge of the screen, the launcher reveals
itself. And this is with the sensitivity set to highest.

[Bug 1312853] Re: 3.5.0-49-generic made Sabrent USB-G1000 network card nonfunctional

2014-04-25 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
Well, although this was completely true at the time. I rebooted again
(using the default 3.5.0-49-generic kernel) and the Sabrent USB-G1000
network card is functioning again.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but after upgrading to 3.5.0-49-generic
(and rebooting) the Sabrent USB-G1000 seemed dead (having no light
indicators on, while being securely plugged in as always). However,
after booting with a previous kernel and then again booting once more
with 3.5.0-49-generic, its now working.

[Bug 1312860] [NEW] Fan speed control is frozen on Asus A8JP

2014-04-25 Thread Jörg-Karl Bösner
Public bug reported:

Behaviour:

The fan speed remains on the same level after the kernel was booted.
That means that the fan is still off when the Laptop is booted with cold
hardware, the fan remains off, leading to an emergency shut down
at100°C.

If the system is booted when still hot, the fan is turned on at maximum
speed. The fan stays at this speed, even when the system has cooled
down.

This problem did not happen before upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04.

When I boot an old installed kernel (3.5.0-44-generic), the problem does
not occur.

Expected Behaviour:
Fanspeed is selected to actual temperature of the system

Re: [Bug 1069160] Re: Could not calculate the upgrade

2014-04-25 Thread Alexandre Moraes
Hi Victor.

Simple way.

You can do it manually.

First generate a list of what you have installed on your system. You can do
this by typing the following in the terminal.

sudo dpkg --get-selections | grep '[[:space:]]install$' | \awk '{print
$1}' package_list

copy your /home and /etc folder to a backup media.

Re install ubuntu 12.04. Restore your backup (remember to set the correct
premissions). Then run the following to reinstall all the program you had
before.

cat package_list | xargs sudo apt-get install

Note that you might have to do some cleaning of the /etc and /home folder
for incompatible settings.

[Bug 1312870] [NEW] Dialer does not get activitated after app lifecycle stops it

2014-04-25 Thread Pat McGowan
Public bug reported:

Mako running 302
Open the dialer
Open a lot of apps, maybe 12, this should be sufficient to force the app
manager to sigstop dialer
Leave a voice message, then click on the voicemail prompt in the message menu
Nothing happens

If the app was recently used, it opens as expected.
It also opens on an incoming call so perhaps the ativation method is different
when coming from the message menu.

** Affects: dialer-app
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Affects: dialer-app (Ubuntu)

 Assignee: Gustavo Pichorim Boiko (boiko)
