[Bug 1312834] [NEW] Mouse pointer won't move with two fingers on trackpad
Public bug reported: Hello, The mouse pointer does not move when I have two fingers on the touchpad. I am using a mac-like touchpad, produced by dell. The model is the Dell Inspiron 15 7000. The way I usually use my touchpad is that I use my middle finger on my right hand to move the pointer, and the middle finger on my left hand to activate the left and right click buttons. I also have taken advantage of the AreaBottomEdge parameter as shown below. What happens is that I usually have my middle finger or thumb on my left hand resting on the left click button. Since this new laptop though, I seem not to be able to do this. If I have a finger (either thumb or middle finger) resting on the left click button, and then go to use my middle finger on my right hand to move the pointer, it will not move. What I have to do, for example when trying to do a drag and drop operation, is make sure to have no fingers resting on the touchpad before attempting to move the pointer. I must then use my left hand to press down on the left click button, and then only at that point can I use my right hand to manipulate the position of the pointer. What I would think the intended functionality should be is that any and all finger motion outside of the active touch area should be completely dis-regarded, with the exception of physical click events (no taps). This would almost certainly alleviate the issue at hand. What additional information can I provide to make this easier to debug and solve? See my included stats below: lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Release:14.04 uname -r 3.13.0-24-generic dpkg -l | grep synaptics ii xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.7.4-0ubuntu1 amd64 cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf # Example xorg.conf.d snippet that assigns the touchpad driver # to all touchpads. [Bug 1312422] Re: PyOpenCL and PyCUDA compatibility
After removing everything related to CUDA and OpenCL (everything with those names in Synaptic), I do `sudo apt-get install python-pycuda python-pyopencl` and get: The following packages have unmet dependencies: python-pyopencl : Depends: libopencl-1.1-1 Depends: libopencl-1.2-1 Depends: ocl-icd-libopencl1 but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. If I only do `sudo apt-get install python-pycuda`, it installs. But then for `sudo apt-get install python-pyopencl` I get: The following packages have unmet dependencies: python-pyopencl : Depends: libopencl-1.1-1 Depends: libopencl-1.2-1 Depends: ocl-icd-libopencl1 but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. If I then uninstall everything related to OpenCL and CUDA (by searching for these names in Synaptic) again, and do `sudo apt-get install python-pyopencl`, it succeeds. If I then do `sudo apt-get install python-pycuda` I get: The following packages have unmet dependencies: python-pycuda : Depends: nvidia-cuda-toolkit but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. [Bug 1312853] Re: 3.5.0-49-generic made Sabrent USB-G1000 network card nonfunctional
Well, although this was completely true at the time. I rebooted again (using the default 3.5.0-49-generic kernel) and the Sabrent USB-G1000 network card is functioning again. I'm not sure what went wrong, but after upgrading to 3.5.0-49-generic (and rebooting) the Sabrent USB-G1000 seemed dead (having no light indicators on, while being securely plugged in as always). Re: [Bug 1069160] Re: Could not calculate the upgrade
Hi Victor. Simple way. You can do it manually. First generate a list of what you have installed on your system. You can do this by typing the following in the terminal. sudo dpkg --get-selections | grep '[[:space:]]install$' | \awk '{print $1}' package_list copy your /home and /etc folder to a backup media. Re install ubuntu 12.04. Restore your backup (remember to set the correct premissions). Then run the following to reinstall all the program you had before. cat package_list | xargs sudo apt-get install Note that you might have to do some cleaning of the /etc and /home folder for incompatible settings. reference: http://askubuntu.com/questions/49869/how-to-roll-back-ubuntu-to-a-previous-version .
