have had no response.

A similar issue has been reported on the mailing list as well
(http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-input/msg42217.html)

According to your instructions, after a week if there is no response
from the mailing list a bug report should be placed on
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/index.cgi, as there is already one, I do not
see a point in posting another one.

The first libnl upstream release which includes these patches is 3.2.25.

The problem happens when the libnl choose a port id already used by
another application. The libnl fails instead of trying another port id.

Please find enclosed a script to reproduce the problem:
$ ./example.sh 
gcc -o example -I/usr/include/libnl3 example.c -lnl-3 -lnl-genl-3
set manually the local port to 12145 (pid: 12144)
local port has been set by the libnl to 12145 (pid: 12145)
genl_connect(): Object exists (local port: 12145, pid: 12145)

The first instance of example sets manually the port id to pid+1.
The second instance of example let the libnl calculate automatically the port 
id. It chooses by default the pid, which is already used.

To summarize, if an application on the system chooses manually a port id
(because it does not use the libnl or because it sets it manually), it
may conflict with applications that use libnl and prevent them to work
properly.

- open camera app
- record a video (or simply press on button to switch to video recording mode)
- leave camera app in background
- open contacts app
- create a new contact
- press on the + to fill the picture section
- select camera as source of the picture

Expected:
- I can take a picture (picture button enabled, record video button disabled)

Result:
- Instead, the record video button is enabled and i cannot switch to photo mode 
because its button is disabled.

So unless ifup/ifdown brings the aliases up/down itself, I don't think 
filtering those out is the right fix.
Take this scenario as an example:
 - System boots quickly
 - networking.conf kicks in, fails to bring eth0 because it's not showed up yet 
(happen reasonably often with complex blade systems)
 - network-wait kicks in
 - eth0 does show up
 - interface is brought up but not the eth0:X ones

The interface labeling thing isn't as cool as it used to be and most
people just add multiple IPs on the same interface nowadays, it used to
be that ifconfig and other tools were confused by that, but they're not
anymore.

Anyway, I guess people are still using that feature and so it's probably
worth fixing. The fix I'd suggest is to do something similar to the
bridge-utils and vlan udev hooks, that is, have a udev hook which
triggers on new interfaces, have the hook use ifquery to check for
downstream interfaces (INTERFACE:X) and then bring those up.

Confirmed the bug still exists in rc-proposed (313), but it is fixed in
devel-proposed.

In rc-proposed 313 the issue still appears to be the old ubuntu-
application-api2-touch, which depends on libmirclient8 causing this
problem.

This is concerning because in recent months we've found a couple of
incompatibilities between libmirclient8 and newer server releases so in
theory anything actually using ubuntu-application-api2-touch could be
quite broken right now.

/analog-input-mic.conf . If this is a correct file, then there are this

I did some measurements on the attached screenshots (the one attached to
that bug and the one attached to the duplicate bug report), and it seems
the webview capture overlaps the tab chrome, which is there but below
the capture (which explains why in bug #1524815 the reporter was able to
tap the close button guessing where it should be, and the tab was
closed).

The TabPreview component is a column, basically built like this:

  }

So it’s unclear to me how the capture could possibly overlap the chrome.
