[Bug 1559522] Re: Thumbnailer fails to fetch thumbnails from Internet

2016-03-24 Thread Michi Henning
You can do

thumbnailer-admin clear

That will wipe the cache completely, as if the thumbnailer had never run
before.

If the *same* albums always fail, it may well be because 7digital simply
does not have artwork for those albums. Or, possibly, because some of
the tags contain spelling errors.

At any rate, you can do the following to start with a clean slate:

$ cd ~phablet/.cache/upstart
$ rm dbus*
$ thumbnailer-admin clear

Then start using your music collection as you normally would. If you
keep an eye on dbus.log, it will tell you what happens for each
thumbnail request.

[Bug 1559428] Re: requesting location updates in oxide webview triggers memory corruption

2016-03-24 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Inspecting the backtrace in comment #16:

at frame 10 (frame_tree.cc:182):
  std::queue queue;

at frame 7 (stl_deque.h:458) in _Deque_base(), with
_Tp=oxide::FetchTextureResourcesTaskInfo* and
_Alloc=std::allocator

This looks suspicious, how can instantiating a queue of FrameTreeNode*
use oxide::FetchTextureResourcesTaskInfo* as a template type? That’s
beyond my field of expertise, but it could very well be memory
corruption indeed.

[Bug 1555237] Re: Upgrade from 14.04.4→ 16.04 dies midway taking out the session.

2016-03-24 Thread Tim
gnome-screensaver is no longer used on GNOME (its builtin as part of
gnome-shell) so those quirks won't work there, I also thought Unity
moved away from it as well?

on GNOME I think the following gsetting would disable screensaver
org.gnome.desktop.session idle-delay to 0

[Bug 1419346] Re: mintMenu and MATE Menu are elevated/offset by compiz

2016-03-24 Thread xjoin
Fix/Workaround in Linux Mint 17.3 MATE (confirmed partially)

a) Add above Windows Rules settings local -- the plugin must be enabled to take
affect:
$ dconf write /org/compiz/profiles/mint/plugins/winrules/size-matches
"['class=MintMenu.py', 'class=MateMenu.py']"
$ dconf write /org/compiz/profiles/mint/plugins/winrules/size-height-values
"[0, 0]"
$ dconf write /org/compiz/profiles/mint/plugins/winrules/size-width-values "[0,
0]"

b) Fails: Alternatively changing the system-wide settings like above for
Ubuntu MATE -- but in /etc/compizconfig/mint.ini -- did not work in my
case.

Thanks to David Black and Martin Wimpress.

2016-03-24 Thread Aki Tuomi
Public bug reported:

When trying to extend desktop to third display, following error is
given. It can be configured as mirror of DP-1-2 but not as extended
display.

# xrandr --verbose --output eDP1 --primary --output DP-1-2 --right-of eDP1
--output DP-1-4 --right-of DP-1-2 --mode 1920x1080
screen 0: 5760x1080 1525x286 mm  95.92dpi
crtc 0:1920x1080  60.05 +0+0 "eDP1"
crtc 4:1920x1080  60.00 +1920+0 "DP-1-2"
crtc 5:1920x1080  60.00 +3840+0 "DP-1-4"
xrandr: Configure crtc 5 failed
crtc 0: disable
crtc 1: disable
crtc 2: disable
crtc 3: disable
crtc 4: disable
crtc 5: disable
crtc 6: disable
crtc 7: disable

crtc 0: revert
crtc 1: revert
crtc 2: revert
crtc 3: revert
crtc 4: revert
crtc 5: revert
crtc 6: revert
crtc 7: revert

Steps to reproduce:
1. Take one Dell Precision M4800 laptop
2. Attach two external displays with DP
3. Install ubuntu 16.04
4. displays are not extended to third display

Expected behaviour:
In 14.04 and 15.10 display was automatically activated and extended. This is
what I hoped.

Actual behaviour:
Display stays blank and cannot be activated even with xrandr.

[Bug 1561465] [NEW] Xenial Beta 2: Installation wizard shows wrong hard disk size

2016-03-24 Thread Skyman
Public bug reported:

When choosing to use the whole virtual hard disk for installation the preview

The installer for 14.04.02 and 15.04 is detecting hard disk media that does not
exist. In my preseed files for both Firestone and Garrison, the debconfig-set
partman-auto/disk has to followed by /dev/sdj. Trying to use /dev/sda will

[Bug 900384] Re: usbipd requires usbip_common_mod.ko and usbip.ko kernel modules, which are not available in any package

2016-03-24 Thread Torsten
found this on usbip.sourceforge.net:

Download

For Linux, the source code of usbip was merged into the staging tree,
and finally has been moved to the mainline since Linux-3.17. Development
is ongoing in the kernel community, not here. Linux distributions will
provide binary packages of usbip. Just for historical records, the
project page keeps old download files of the Linux version. Do not use
them.

However, in newest kernel it don't work (4.4.0-12 / lubuntu 16.04) even if i
can find:
./lib/modules/4.4.0-12-generic/kernel/drivers/usb/usbip
./lib/modules/4.4.0-12-generic/kernel/drivers/usb/usbip/usbip-host.ko
./lib/modules/4.4.0-12-generic/kernel/drivers/usb/usbip/usbip-core.ko

[Bug 1558331] Re: message "The repository is insufficiently signed by key (weak digest)" is poorly worded

2016-03-24 Thread Colin Watson
You do not need to do anything if you have your own PPA. Furthermore,
people do not need to keep reporting individual PPAs that are signed
with weak digests. We'll fix them in bulk, hopefully quite soon (still
working on the last bits of code for that).

[Bug 1550779] Re: [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun - Xorg glitches

2016-03-24 Thread Hubert Hesse
Can anyone confirm the steps I took where all right?
What's the difference between the kernel I compiled and the officially
distributed one (4.2.0-27)? Any patches to reproduce the official binary?

[Bug 1559507] Re: Keyboard selection is missed

2016-03-24 Thread Phill Whiteside
As a workaround. After install issue "sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-
configuration" from terminal and it will take you to the missing steps
for language, keyboard layout and update the /etc/default/keyboard file.

This also works for the issue with Ubiquity installer.

[Bug 1550493] Re: Segmentation fault on startup

2016-03-24 Thread gsarret
I can confirm the bug, for me it first happened only a couple of days
ago, after the last ugrade (see the attached file). But I'm on 14.04.

However, I guess it's not the dwb's fault, it's rather some of the
webkit packages (webkitgtk, javascriptcoregtk etc.) that are causing
this bug. So, probably, it should be reassigned to one (or more) of
those, I just don't know which one exactly.

By the way, I'm new to this forum, isn't there a way to attach two files
at the same time? I've also tried to attach log of what happens after I
try to run dwb, but it won't let me do that.

And as there is no way of downgrading a package in ubuntu, I'm afraid
it's that time again -- to grab source and start building :)

The io requests to the NVMe device gets broken down to 64k requests

I would like to ask Canonical to cherry pick the followng patch:

commit 5f009d3f8e6685fe8c6215082c1696a08b411220
Author: Keith Busch
Date:   Wed Feb 10 16:52:47 2016 -0700

block: Initialize max_dev_sectors to 0

The new queue limit is not used by the majority of block drivers, and
should be initialized to 0 for the driver's requested settings to be used.

[Bug 1561447] Re: MFG HOT: ubuntu installer device detection issue on Firestone and Garrison

2016-03-24 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1561447/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1316873] Re: Left mouse button stops working

2016-03-24 Thread Eric Broneer
I recently switched from an HDD to an SSD. I installed a fresh Ubuntu
14.04.4 on the SSD. Everything works just fine, except the left button
randomly stops working *only in the work space*. It responds in opened
applications, just not on the top bar or the left application launch
bar. Right click and scroll work fine.

Silly but useful workaround without having to exit fully from the
session : [Ctl][Alt][L] and retype your password.

[Bug 1561507] Re: NVMe io requests gets broken down to 64k block requests

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1561507/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1561390] Re: Radeon vga is not detected in Additional drivers

2016-03-24 Thread Tim
fglrx/catalyst has been removed from 16.04 since it doesnt support Xorg
1.18 and AMD don't plan to support it for the LTS.

If you have a recent AMD card you will get support via the new
AMDGPU/AMD Pro stack. http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item

Buts its probably not ready yet.

[Bug 1554004]

That's true.

The device has a DVI *and* VGA output and while using DVI output
(without adapter of any kind) we're getting a blank output. VGA output
to VGA display works fine - this is what we use currently as a work-
around.

This is another issue however and is probably related to the topic you
mentioned above and is not related to this bug.

I fully agree with you and I also want to see this fixed and present in
Ubuntu. Unfortunately the rules (btw. those are Ubuntu rules rather than
Canonical) are very strict and I don't think they can be bypassed in any
way other that those described at the wiki pages (SRU and MRE).

However, I would still like to provide any help necessary in making sure
the new releases will be included in upcoming Ubuntu releases. Would you
mind if we continue the discussion on the openchrome-devel mailing list?

Thank you,
Dariusz
