[Bug 1574650] Re: Sweethome3D crashes in Ubuntu 16.04 64-Bit version

2016-05-10 Thread Manolis
The bug is NOT solved. Not every one has NVidia driver at his system.
The solution you suggest may work only for Nvidia or may works only for
some models of Nvidia cards.

It definitely does not work for ATI/ Radeon video cards.

Thank you for your time,

[Bug 1003854] Re: Database upgrade/migration fails with nested db directories (lucid to precise)

2016-05-10 Thread Dave Jones
Also encountered this when upgrading a server from 12.04 to 14.04 (for
reference, wound up filing duplicate bug #1579566). Managed to get slapd
restored happily by creating the accesslog directory (then slapadd to
restore).

Unfortunately as I restored the database, rather than apt handling it,
the slapd package is now in "iF" state (according to dpkg -l).
Attempting to fix this with "apt-get -f install" leads to the original
situation: the package attempts to backup and restore the database
unsuccessfully presumably because the slapd package it's attempting to
update to is 2.4.31 (the current version in trusty) while the fixed
version is the later 2.4.40.

Any hints on how to resolve the situation (e.g. by simply marking the
package "installed"? slapd does appear to be working happily with the
manually restored database)

[Bug 1550958] Re: Contacts not shown in device

2016-05-10 Thread Renato Araujo Oliveira Filho
Probably the sync command is not syncing all contact, due the contact be part
of others groups, I am not sure that syncevolution syncs contacts from others
groups.
Check if you are not facing a similar problem what Guillaume had.

[Bug 1580296] [NEW] Screen is blank and won't recover

2016-05-10 Thread Chuck McManis
Public bug reported:

I am running Xubuntu 16.04, I have reproduced this problem on both the
Gigabyte Brix system and the NUC5i7RYH system. Both use integrated Intel
graphics.

The symptom is that after a long period of time (like overnight) the
screen is blanked and moving the mouse or pressing keys on the keyboard
will not switch the screen back on. Using Ctl-Alt-Fx will let me bring
up an alternate VT however, so I can log in and look around. Switching
back to VT7 (where Xubuntu is) the screen goes black again and won't
wake up.

The only error message I can find is in lightdm.log which is as follows:

[160363.826] (II) intel(0): Modeline "1920x1080"x0.0 148.50 1920 2448 2492
2640 1080 1084 1089 1125 +hsync +vsync (56.2 kHz e)
[161295.000] (II) AIGLX: Suspending AIGLX clients for VT switch
[161328.781] (II) AIGLX: Resuming AIGLX clients after VT switch
[161328.781] (EE) intel(0): sna_mode_shutdown_crtc: invalid state found on pipe
0, disabling CRTC:21

If I send a SIGHUP to the session manager it restarts and the screen
wakes up with the Login screen again, that of course loses all my open
windows from the previous session so it isn't really optimal.

The lightdm log seems to suggest that it tried to "wake up" but that
something happened that wasn't supposed to. When it isn't in this state
(say for example I am up and running and I use Ctl-Alt-F2 to switch to
Vt2 and then switch back to lightdm it works as expected and there is no
error.

I've set every parameter of every screen saver locker blanker etc to
never suspend block or shutdown. And the screen still blanks. That makes
me wonder what agency is turning off the screen.

Let me know where to look and I'll add data to this bug. The situation
is quite reproducible.

[Bug 1575896] Re: Scrollbar thumb not drawn in firefox 46 (gtk3?)

2016-05-10 Thread ralf tauscher
i installed also the gnome theme... the ugly scroll bar appeared but not
in every place where it should be and sometimes it disappeared
completely. something is utterly wrong with it. and it seems to be
within the adwaita theme, because I dont have this problem under 14.04
only in xenial.

my workaround was downgrading to firefox 45 (gtk2)

2016-05-10 Thread Philip Muškovac
Actually scratch that, now that I read all comments it's the same
upstream bug, so yes, the package should solve this.

many network connections. No new connection can be created or existing ones
edited.

is commited. This is released in KDE Frameworks 5.21. The patch can be cherry
picked and applied to networkmanager-qt 5.18.

[Bug 1504688] Re: fsck runs on every boot (clean install, single ext4 filesystem)

2016-05-10 Thread Jason Benjamin
The problem is real, but there's there's a simple solution. Edit
'/etc/default/grub' and find the line: 'GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT'.
Add 'fastboot' option to the list. After that update grub ('sudo
update-grub'). This is not necessarily a workaround as the problem may
have been an omission in the original configuration of grub.

On another note, however, the splash screen still just flashes on reboot
occasionally or just doesn't show. Also changing the /etc/fstab entries
is unnecessary and useless on its own from my attempts.

[Bug 1470250] Re: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Generation 2 SCSI Errors on VSS Based Backups

2016-05-10 Thread faulpeltz
@jsalisbury, I moved back to testing only a single machine at a given time,
currently 5e6cf71 is running for ~6 hours, 83215219 is up next

we had 5e6cf71 and 83215219 running at the same time without any issues
for 24 hours *but* the problem seems to be easier to reproduce with only
one machine running

for the other two builds from #220 I tried to rule out any other
potential causes; there was nothing suspicious on the Hyper-V host this
time at the time of failure

another thought, did anyone experience the crash with a file system
other than ext4?

[Bug 1003854] Re: Database upgrade/migration fails with nested db directories (lucid to precise)

2016-05-10 Thread Dave Jones
Ah, no worries - finally figured it out. Needed to apply the patch to
/var/lib/dpkg/info/slapd.postinst (rather than slapd.config - was
confused over package's half-configured state) and restore the old-
version backup prior to retrying "dpkg --configure -a". All good now!

[Bug 1470250] Re: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Generation 2 SCSI Errors on VSS Based Backups

2016-05-10 Thread Joseph Salisbury
That is a good idea about testing a file system other than ext4.

There are two other ext4 commits in the bisect range we are testing. It
would require 8321521 to be Good for it to be either of these:

265dabe ext4: fix wrong assert in ext4_mb_normalize_request()
d4d2e7e ext4: fix zeroing of page during writeback

I'll await your test results before building the next kernel. I'm going
to look at my test script and see why it is taking so long for me to
reproduce the bug. I did lower the number of io threads in tiotest
because it was making the system almost unusable due to the io load, but
maybe that is what's needed to reproduce the bug.

While your testing, I'll go ahead and setup some guests with a
filesystem other than ext4 and test.

[Bug 1580311] [NEW] Kernel hangs at boot with modesettings

2016-05-10 Thread mjh
Public bug reported:

Hi,

Since updating to 16.04 with kernel vmlinuz-4.4.0-22-generic my laptop
no longer completes the boot sequence under a normal boot scenario - the
"loading initrd..." message is displayed, then, when the VGA modesetting
usually kicks the display into a higher resolution, the screen blanks
and the startup apparently halts. This is a regression from 4.2 series
kernels. I can successfully bring up the system if I revert to 4.2.0-35,
and also if I boot 4.4 with the failsafe setting (but then X is
painfully slow, as its using software)

[Bug 1580323] [NEW] Pull/merge 2016.05~rc3+dfsg1-1 from Debian experimental

2016-05-10 Thread Ryan Finnie
Public bug reported:

Per a conversation with Adam Conrad, please merge 2016.05~rc3+dfsg1-1
(currently in Debian experimental) into yakkety, and apply the patch at
https://bugs.debian.org/823524 to enable Raspberry Pi 32-bit support.

2016.05 (when released) is likely to get that patch and be released long
before yakkety, but we want to get a jump on official raspi3 support.

[Bug 1579781] Re: librxtx-java fails to open /dev/ttyACM0 port!

2016-05-10 Thread Tiago Stürmer Daitx
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information and also provided
ambiguous information.

As for the description being ambiguous:
1. The first paragraph describes a librxtx problem, but the ErrorMessage and
Title fields indicates a duplicate of bug #1550950
2. OpenJDK 8 is cited on the first paragraph but the bug is associated to
OpenJDK 9 and further on the Package field contains openjdk-9-jdk

Please clarify what the actual issue is and provide additional information. At
a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thanks!

[Bug 1580290] [NEW] Video plays in background tab

2016-05-10 Thread Michal Predotka
Public bug reported:

bq M10 rc-proposed OS build 100
If I have few tabs open and in the first tab is a youtube video, it will start
playing even if that tap is in the background after restarting the Browser.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start Browser
2. Open a tab with a youtube video in it, for example
http://summit.ubuntu.com/uos-1605/meeting/22651/convergent-ubuntu-apps
3. Open few more tabs with other websites
4. If necessary move the tab with the video so it's the first from the left
5. Select any other tab
6. Close Browser
7. Start Browser again

Expected result:
I don't hear the sound from the video in the background tab.

What happens instead:
I hear the sound from the video in the background tab.

[Bug 1460784] Re: Application launcher places wine programs in Lost & Found after update to kubuntu 15.04

2016-05-10 Thread Curtis Gedak
I just found a workaround for this issue, and it works in kubuntu 16.04.

The workaround steps are:

1. Edit /etc/xdg/menus/kf5-applications.menu

2. After add the following line:

   applications-merged

3. Save the file, and you might need to reboot to see the updated menus.

This problem was reported in KDE in the following upstream report.

kde doesn't merge ~/.config/menus/applications-merged to the menu
