[Bug 1003854] Re: Database upgrade/migration fails with nested db directories (lucid to precise)
Also encountered this when upgrading a server from 12.04 to 14.04 (for reference, wound up filing duplicate bug #1579566). Managed to get slapd restored happily by creating the accesslog directory (then slapadd to restore). Unfortunately as I restored the database, rather than apt handling it, the slapd package is now in "iF" state (according to dpkg -l). Attempting to fix this with "apt-get -f install" leads to the original situation: the package attempts to backup and restore the database unsuccessfully presumably because the slapd package it's attempting to update to is 2.4.31 (the current version in trusty) while the fixed version is the later 2.4.40. Any hints on how to resolve the situation (e.g. by simply marking the package "installed"? slapd does appear to be working happily with the manually restored database) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1003854 Title: Database upgrade/migration fails with nested db directories (lucid to precise) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/1003854/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1580296] [NEW] Screen is blank and won't recover
Public bug reported: I am running Xubuntu 16.04, I have reproduced this problem on both the Gigabyte Brix system and the NUC5i7RYH system. Both use integrated Intel graphics. The symptom is that after a long period of time (like overnight) the screen is blanked and moving the mouse or pressing keys on the keyboard will not switch the screen back on. Using Ctl-Alt-Fx will let me bring up an alternate VT however, so I can log in and look around. Switching back to VT7 (where Xubuntu is) the screen goes black again and won't wake up. The only error message I can find is in lightdm.log which is as follows: [160363.826] (II) intel(0): Modeline "1920x1080"x0.0 148.50 1920 2448 2492 2640 1080 1084 1089 1125 +hsync +vsync (56.2 kHz e) [161295.000] (II) AIGLX: Suspending AIGLX clients for VT switch [161328.781] (II) AIGLX: Resuming AIGLX clients after VT switch [161328.781] (EE) intel(0): sna_mode_shutdown_crtc: invalid state found on pipe 0, disabling CRTC:21 If I send a SIGHUP to the session manager it restarts and the screen wakes up with the Login screen again, that of course loses all my open windows from the previous session so it isn't really optimal. The lightdm log seems to suggest that it tried to "wake up" but that something happened that wasn't supposed to. When it isn't in this state (say for example I am up and running and I use Ctl-Alt-F2 to switch to Vt2 and then switch back to lightdm it works as expected and there is no error. I've set every parameter of every screen saver locker blanker etc to never suspend block or shutdown. And the screen still blanks. That makes me wonder what agency is turning off the screen. Let me know where to look and I'll add data to this bug. The situation is quite reproducible. i installed also the gnome theme... the ugly scroll bar appeared but not in every place where it should be and sometimes it disappeared completely. something is utterly wrong with it. and it seems to be within the adwaita theme, because I dont have this problem under 14.04 only in xenial. my workaround was downgrading to firefox 45 (gtk2) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575896 Title: Scrollbar thumb not drawn in firefox 46 (gtk3?) [Bug 1504688] Re: fsck runs on every boot (clean install, single ext4 filesystem)
The problem is real, but there's there's a simple solution. Edit '/etc/default/grub' and find the line: 'GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT'. Add 'fastboot' option to the list. After that update grub ('sudo update-grub'). This is not necessarily a workaround as the problem may have been an omission in the original configuration of grub. On another note, however, the splash screen still just flashes on reboot occasionally or just doesn't show. Also changing the /etc/fstab entries is unnecessary and useless on its own from my attempts. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1504688 Title: fsck runs on every boot (clean install, single ext4 filesystem) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/1504688/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1470250] Re: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Generation 2 SCSI Errors on VSS Based Backups
That is a good idea about testing a file system other than ext4. There are two other ext4 commits in the bisect range we are testing. It would require 8321521 to be Good for it to be either of these: 265dabe ext4: fix wrong assert in ext4_mb_normalize_request() d4d2e7e ext4: fix zeroing of page during writeback I'll await your test results before building the next kernel. I'm going to look at my test script and see why it is taking so long for me to reproduce the bug. I did lower the number of io threads in tiotest because it was making the system almost unusable due to the io load, but maybe that is what's needed to reproduce the bug. While your testing, I'll go ahead and setup some guests with a filesystem other than ext4 and test. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1470250 Title: [Hyper-V] Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Generation 2 SCSI Errors on VSS Based Backups To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1470250/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1580311] [NEW] Kernel hangs at boot with modesettings
Public bug reported: Hi, Since updating to 16.04 with kernel vmlinuz-4.4.0-22-generic my laptop no longer completes the boot sequence under a normal boot scenario - the "loading initrd..." message is displayed, then, when the VGA modesetting usually kicks the display into a higher resolution, the screen blanks and the startup apparently halts. This is a regression from 4.2 series kernels. I can successfully bring up the system if I revert to 4.2.0-35, and also if I boot 4.4 with the failsafe setting (but then X is painfully slow, as its using software) Matt ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+13ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.2.0-35.40-generic 4.2.8-ckt5 Uname: Linux 4.2.0-35-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity_support_test.0: ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Tue May 10 20:29:56 2016 DistUpgraded: 2016-05-04 00:10:55,503 DEBUG icon theme changed, re-reading DistroCodename: xenial DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: virtualbox, 5.0.18, 4.2.0-35-generic, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 5.0.18, 4.4.0-21-generic, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 5.0.18, 4.4.0-22-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, if not too technical GpuHangFrequency: Continuously GpuHangReproducibility: Yes, I can easily reproduce it GpuHangStarted: Immediately after installing this version of Ubuntu GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Device [8086:22b1] (rev 21) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:06ac] InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-05-12 (364 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Release amd64 (20150422) MachineType: Dell Inc. [Bug 1460784] Re: Application launcher places wine programs in Lost & Found after update to kubuntu 15.04
I just found a workaround for this issue, and it works in kubuntu 16.04. The workaround steps are: 1. Edit /etc/xdg/menus/kf5-applications.menu 2. After add the following line: applications-merged 3. Save the file, and you might need to reboot to see the updated menus. This problem was reported in KDE in the following upstream report. kde doesn't merge ~/.config/menus/applications-merged to the menu https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=213972 ** Bug watch added: KDE Bug Tracking System #213972 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=213972 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1460784 Title: Application launcher places wine programs in Lost & Found after update to kubuntu 15.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/1460784/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
