[Bug 1444992] Re: fastpath install duplicates iSCSI initiator names, blocking iSCSI HW

2017-09-14 Thread Victor Tapia
The cloud image for Xenial is still affected by this bug. Deploying with
nova:

$ nova boot --flavor m1.small --image
ubuntu-xenial-daily-amd64-server-20170830.1-disk1.img xenial-iscsi1
$ nova boot --flavor m1.small --image
ubuntu-xenial-daily-amd64-server-20170830.1-disk1.img xenial-iscsi2

$ ssh xenial-iscsi1 'sudo grep ^Init /etc/iscsi/initiatorname.iscsi'
Warning: Permanently added 'xenial-iscsi1,10.5.1.142' (ECDSA) to the list of
known hosts.
InitiatorName=iqn.1993-08.org.debian:01:87d0bcc7edba
$ ssh xenial-iscsi2 'sudo grep ^Init /etc/iscsi/initiatorname.iscsi'
Warning: Permanently added 'xenial-iscsi2,10.5.1.143' (ECDSA) to the list of
known hosts.
InitiatorName=iqn.1993-08.org.debian:01:87d0bcc7edba

Checking the image:
$ wget
https://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/xenial/current/xenial-server-cloudimg-amd64.squashfs
$ unsquashfs xenial-server-cloudimg-amd64.squashfs
$ cat squashfs-root/etc/iscsi/initiatorname.iscsi
## DO NOT EDIT OR REMOVE THIS FILE!
## If you remove this file, the iSCSI daemon will not start.
## If you change the InitiatorName, existing access control lists
## may reject this initiator. The InitiatorName must be unique
## for each iSCSI initiator. Do NOT duplicate iSCSI InitiatorNames.
InitiatorName=iqn.1993-08.org.debian:01:87d0bcc7edba

Zesty works fine (the image generates a new name):
$ cat squashfs-root/etc/iscsi/initiatorname.iscsi
GenerateName=yes

[Bug 216847] Create a website or blog

2017-09-14 Thread KBios
To start as an affiliate marketer, you must have a site on which to place
links to the products or services you recommend. There are many inexpensive
website services such as Hostgator and GoDaddy. It's also easy to set up a
free blog through services such as Google's Blogger blog network. I also use
Namecheap for domains and Hostnine (get a reseller account) for hosting.

[Bug 1716964] Re: VLAN network script if-up.d/ip limits rp_filter value to 0 or 1

2017-09-14 Thread Juan Fernandez
The following modification on /etc/network/if-up.d/ip makes it work.

*** 13,18
--- 13,20
if [ -n "$IF_IP_RP_FILTER" ]; then
if [ "$IF_IP_RP_FILTER" -eq "0" ]; then
echo 0 > "/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/$IFACE/rp_filter"
+   elif [ "$IF_IP_RP_FILTER" -eq "2" ]; then
+   echo 2 > "/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/$IFACE/rp_filter"
else
echo 1 > "/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/$IFACE/rp_filter"
fi

** Description changed:

  When configuring a VLAN interface on /etc/network/interfaces, setting
  the ip-rp-filter value to 2 (loose mode reverse filtering) gets
  overridden by the /etc/network/if-up.d/ip script, which only allows for
  values 0 and 1.

  This is the relevant configuration in /etc/network/interfaces

  # The primary network interface
  auto eno1
  iface eno1 inet static
-   address 10.1.2.36
-   netmask 255.255.0.0
-   gateway 10.1.1.2
-   dns-search xxx.yy
-   dns-nameservers 10.1.2.22 10.1.2.24

+  gateway 10.1.1.2
+  dns-search xxx.yy
+  dns-nameservers 10.1.2.22 10.1.2.24

  # The administrative network
  auto eno1.2
  iface eno1.2 inet static
-   address 172.16.1.8
-   netmask 255.255.0.0
-   gateway 172.16.0.1
-   dns-search adm.xxx.yy
-   vlan-raw-device eno1
-   ip-rp-filter 2
+  address 172.16.1.8
+  netmask 255.255.0.0
+  ip-rp-filter 2
+  vlan-raw-device eno1
+

  But it does not get correctly set

- ~# cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/eno1.2/rp_filter
+ ~# cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/eno1.2/rp_filter
  1
-

  And this is the script overriding the configuration

- ~# cat /etc/network/if-up.d/ip
+ ~# cat /etc/network/if-up.d/ip
  #!/bin/sh
  # This should probably go into ifupdown
  # But usually only those with lots of interfaces (vlans) need these
  if [ -d "/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/$IFACE" ]
  then
-   if [ -n "$IF_IP_PROXY_ARP" ]; then
-   if [ "$IF_IP_PROXY_ARP" -eq "1" ]; then
-   echo 1 > "/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/$IFACE/proxy_arp"

+  if [ -n "$IF_IP_PROXY_ARP" ]; then

+   else
+    echo 1 > "/proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/$IFACE/rp_filter"
+   fi
+  fi

-
- It checks if $IF_IP_RP_FILTER is 0 and sets it as 0, otherwise sets it as 1,
so it never allows to set is to 2 (loose mode).

[Bug 1713323] Re: HiDPI support partially broken after upgrade to Gnome 3.25

2017-09-14 Thread John Skottis
Also if you add a second monitor scaling is stuck at the default of the
first screen and cannot be changed to anything else.

Note:

I am using a laptop with a 15 inch screen and 3200 x 1800 resolution
with a second monitor with a 25 inch screen with 2560 x 1440 resolution.
The primary monitor is the 25 inch and there is a scaling of 200%
applied to the 15 inch. The scaling on the 25inch cannot be changed back
to 100% and therefore the side bar looks enormous

[Bug 1687384] Re: apt-get upgrade fails. package snapd 2.23.1~14.04 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 5

2017-09-14 Thread John A Meinel
I just ran into this doing a dist upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04.3. Now,
the initial do-release-upgrade failed mid way, because of something
wrong with Postgres. (I can't remember the exact details now, but it
started popping up a dialog about postgres, which had a 'close' button,
but clicking close caused the dialog to pop up again. And eventually
Unity died during the upgrade, forcing me to restart. Which had a number
of follow on dpkg issues. (that's why we all want snaps, right?)

Right now, I'm unable to 'apt-get purge' because that script, itself, fails:
$ sudo apt-get purge snapd
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  linux-generic linux-generic-lts-xenial
Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove them.
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  snapd*
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
After this operation, 66.1 MB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n] y
(Reading database ... 390390 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing snapd (2.27.5~14.04) ...
Failed to execute operation: No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing package snapd (--purge):
 subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 snapd
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

There isn't a 'dpkg --reconfigure' though there is a 'dpkg-reconfigure' but it
needs a package name. Though looking around online it seems "dpkg --configure
-a" is the more common command to run when things break.

When I went to run the contents of 'snapd.prerm' manually, it succeeded
in "systemctl stop ..." but it failed at "systemctl disable" with "No
such file or directory."

[Bug 1705157] Re: "Ubuntu" and "Ubuntu on Xorg" randomly start the same session (maybe Wayland maybe Xorg)

2017-09-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gdm3 - 3.26.0-1ubuntu1

---
gdm3 (3.26.0-1ubuntu1) artful; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian. Remaining changes:
+ README.Debian: update for correct paths in Ubuntu
+ control.in:
  - Don't recommend desktop-base
  - Depend on bash for ubuntu_config_error_dialog.patch
  - Update Vcs field
  - Don't build for s390x since gnome-shell isn't available there
+ rules:
  - Don't override default user/group
  - --enable-gdm-xsession to install upstream Xsession script
  - override dh_installinit with --no-start to avoid session being killed
  - Only do gdm3 things when we're building gdm3
+ rules, README.Debian, gdm3.8.pod:
  Use upstream custom.conf instead of daemon.conf
+ gdm3.{postinst,postrm}: rename user and group back to gdm
+ gdm3.postinst: don't kill gdm on upgrade
+ gdm3.*.pam: Make pam_env read ~/.pam_environment (LP: #952185)
+ gdm3.install:
  - Stop installing default.desktop. It adds unnecessary clutter
("System Default") to the session chooser.
  - Don't install debian/Xsession
+ debian/gdm3.config
  - Only prompt the user to choose display managers when we haven't
already determined a migration to gdm3 is recommended.
  - Handle the transition from lightdm in gdm3 rather than
ubuntu-session
  - Check the version of gdm3 instead of ubuntu-session. If
ubuntu-session wasn't installed, the previous version generated
stderr output. (It didn't fail, because the dpkg-query call was
first in the pipeline and the awk call always succeeds.) If gdm3
was configured before ubuntu-session then this check wouldn't have
worked either. I think that instead we can compare the version of
gdm3 itself, and do this transition when we upgrade from an old
version or install gdm3 for the first time.
+ ubuntu_run_xsession.d.patch
+ ubuntu_xresources_is_a_dir.patch
  - Fix loading from /etc/X11/Xresources/*
+ ubuntu_nvidia_prime.patch:
  - Add hook to run prime-offload (as root) and prime-switch if
nvidia-prime is installed (LP: #1262068)
+ revert_override_LANG_with_accountservices.patch:
  - On Ubuntu accountservices only stores the language and not the
full locale as needed by LANG.
+ ubuntu_config_error_dialog.patch:
  - Show warning dialog in case of error in ~/.profile etc. and
don't let a syntax error make the login fail (LP: #678421).
+ Add revert_drop_gdm_shell_session.patch:
  - Revert commit that requires gnome-session to be installed
+ debian/default.pa
  - Added new file to disable Bluetooth audio devices in PulseAudio from
gdm3.
+ debian/gdm3.install
  - Added details of the default.pa file
+ debian/gdm3.postinst
  - Added installation of default.pa and creation of dir if it doesn't
exist.
+ debian/patches/95_hide_x11_sessions_with_nvidia_kms.patch: Patch from
  Alberto Milone. On nvidia, if the user has enabled KMS, don't show X11
  sessions and force Wayland instead since X11 won't work there.

gdm3 (3.26.0-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream stable release
- Fix for unauthenticated unlock when autologin is enabled
  (CVE-2017-12164)
- Fix for going to normal mode after classic
- crasher fix when user switching
- make sure reauthentication is run in right context
  *
debian/patches/01_gdm-session-Calculate-fallback-session-name-without-.patch:
Cherry-pick from upstream. Calculate the default (`fallback') session in
the same way as gnome-shell does, fixing an out-of-sync issue between the
greeter and gdm's idea of the first session. (LP: #1705157)
  * debian/patches/92_systemd_unit.patch: No need to patch to send HUP - this
is done upstream now.

gdm3 (3.25.90.1-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release
  * Drop revert_drop_gdm_shell_session.patch: Applied in new release
  * Bump Standards-Version to 4.1.0

[Bug 1714542] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in st_theme_node_reduce_border_radius() from st_theme_node_paint_borders() from st_theme_node_paint()

2017-09-14 Thread Joe Barnett
This appears to happen much more with the experimental mutter fractional
scaling support turned on and scaling set to 150% (and font scaling set
to 100%), but also happens without that enabled. Without it enabled, I
have scaling set to 100%, but font scaling set to 150%.

[Bug 1706274] Re: html2xhtml produces invald XML for MS Office HTML output

2017-09-14 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
I'm not 100% sure, since this module is a parser and not a serializer,
but it appears HTML::HTML5::Parser is just building a DOM, and the
serialization is then done by XML::LibXML. Therefore, it seems likely
the bug is indeed in HTML::HTML5::Parser.

The upstream bug tracker is at
https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Dist/Display.html?Name=HTML-HTML5-Parser
but unfortunately, it doesn't see a lot of attention these days. Nevertheless,
please submit upstream.

[Bug 1706274] Re: html2xhtml produces invald XML for MS Office HTML output

2017-09-14 Thread Kjetil Kjernsmo
I was able to reproduce the bug, and I have committed the example as test data
to my own fork of the module:
https://github.com/kjetilk/p5-html-html5-parser/commit/c4be3e6ee63d0850079c115ef4274e4c2c3befa9
I'm not a maintainer, so it doesn't bring us much closer to a solution though.
Just did it since I have a fork :-)

[Bug 1413665] Re: Bad Request - Bad bot, go away! Request aborted.

2017-09-14 Thread hackel
FYI — To "fix" this obnoxious issue in order to use KeeFox, you need to
tell it to use the "email" field instead of "openid.usernamesecret" for
the username. You can do this by editing the entry in KeePass, going to
the KeeFox tab, form fields, and edit the "{USERNAME}" form field,
changing the name to "email" (the default is blank).

[Bug 1717300] [NEW] gnome-keyring -ssh silently start and conflict with ssh-agent

2017-09-14 Thread Olleg Samoylov
Public bug reported:

According to /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-ssh.desktop gnome-keyring
launchers are visible in OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;MATE;. I use Cinnamon and under
Cinnamon gnome-keyring is not visible in the autostart menu. But it's started
hidden ad steal SSH_AUTH_SOCK from the ssh_agent. And this creates confusion
problems, because gnome-keyring don't support ECDSA and ED25519. And there was
hard to investigate where this gnome-keyring was launched to switch it off.
The problem script is from Ubuntu, perhaps
/usr/share/upstart/sessions/gnome-keyring-ssh.conf
There is a check of running ssh-agent, [ -z "$SSH_AUTH_SOCK" ], but obviously
it don't work.

What is needed to do is if gnome-keyring is running in any windows
manager, thus it must be visible in any, thus anyone shall can quickly
switch it off, if this will be needed. Or don't run where it is not
visible as autostart application.

Workaround is to copy file /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-ssh.desktop
to the user homedir, delete "OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity;MATE;" with any text
editor in this file and switch it off later. Now all work fine.

Ubuntu 17.04, gnome-keyring 3.20.0-3ubuntu2.

2017-09-14 Thread Norbert
The last working version was this:

http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/contrib/m/msttcorefonts/

I think it fails with this change:

msttcorefonts (3.6ubuntu1) artful; urgency=medium

  * Merge from Debian Sid. Remaining changes:

->- Ubuntu preinst and postrm scripts have deltas.

- Source the debconf confmodule before doing anything else in the preinst.
- Move #DEBHELPER# substitution before preinst code that might exit.
- Migrate to use an update-notifier hook, so that package data can be
  handled asynchronously and not cause install failures on network
  problems.
- Add missing pre-depends for use of debconf in preinst.
- Convert to dh(1).
- Skip race between update-notifier and update-ms-fonts trying to delete
  the same files from the same locations.

[Bug 1706735] Re: lmbench tcp lib backlog reservation too small, can cause hang.

2017-09-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package lmbench - 3.0-a9+debian.1-1

---
lmbench (3.0-a9+debian.1-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Acknowledge NMUs, thanks Andreas!
  * Use upstream tarball as orig.tar.gz. This appends a +debian.1 to the
upstream version to avoid conflicting with the previous orig.tar.gz.
The previous orig.tar.gz was a tarball that contained the upstream
tarball, which had to be unpacked prior to build in debian/rules.
  * Switch to dpkg-source 3.0 (quilt) format from dpatch, which is
deprecated.  (Closes: #875644)
  * Add myself to Uploaders.
  * debian/rules: Remove unused H_ARCH/OPTIMIZATION variables.
  * debian/info: Remove. The listed file does not exist in the source.
  * Turn debhelper compat level up to 11.
  * Allow lmbench-docs to install most documentation in the main package,
as recommended by §12.3 since 3.9.7.
  * Do not generate lmbench-run manpage if DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS contains
'nodocs'.
  * Add a "lmbench-" prefix to manpages that conflict with other packages.
Since this allows us to include all of the manpages in lmbench, stop
including separate copies in lmbench-doc.
  * d/p/dynamic-tcp-backlog.patch: Dynamically increase the TCP backlog on
high core-count systems. (LP: #1706735)
  * Bump Standards-Version to 4.1.0.

[Bug 1713536] Re: udev: boot script does not trigger subsystem coldplug

2017-09-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package systemd - 234-2ubuntu10

---
systemd (234-2ubuntu10) artful; urgency=medium

  * Do not fail debootstrap if /etc/resolv.conf is immutable. (LP: #1713212)
  * Revert "Create /etc/resolv.conf on resolved start, if it is an empty file."
As it is ineffective, and correct creation of /etc/resolv.conf has been
fixed.
This reverts commit ccba42504f216f6ffbc54eb2c9af347355f8d86b.
  * initramfs-tools: trigger udevadm add actions with subsystems first.
This updates the initramfs-tools init-top udev script to trigger udevadm
actions with type specified. This mimicks the
systemd-udev-trigger.service. Without type specified only devices are
triggered, but triggering subsystems may also be required and should happen
before triggering the devices. This is the case for example on s390x with
zdev
generated udev rules. (LP: #1713536)

[Bug 1717280] [NEW] systemctl stop unattended-upgrades.service hangs during upgrade

2017-09-14 Thread hackel
Public bug reported:

This morning unattended-upgrades tried to upgrade itself from
0.93.1ubuntu2.2 to 0.93.1ubuntu2.3. It seems like the prerm script tried
to run "systemctl stop unattended-upgrades.service" which simply hung.
I repeated the command manually and it hung for me as well. During this
time, dpkg was holding a lock and I could not install/upgrade any other
packages. Eventually, after around 10 minutes, it must have timed out
or something and the process finally ended.

It did detect the crash and uploaded the crash report to whatever
magical place those go...

[Bug 1692458] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2017-09-14 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From lagar...@br.ibm.com 2017-09-14 10:55 EDT---
Madhu,

Could you please point the upstream commit IDs for this feature? Or,
given that Ubuntu 17.10 is using libvirt 3.6 now, hopefully this already
has the needed commits.

[Bug 1717257] Re: proposal of patch to avoid erros in compiping NVCC

2017-09-14 Thread DSUZUKI
** Description changed:

  Here is another proposal regarding bug report I posted (but in reject).
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1716816

  I reported that glibc 2.26-0ubuntu1 ( adopted in Artful-proposed on Sep
  5.) causes compilation error by using NVIDIA's CUDA8.0 and 9.0RC.

  Under glibc 2.24, they work.

  It maybe comes from glibc226's new feature, i.e. "128-bit floating point
  as defined by ISO/IEC/IEEE 60559:2011 (IEEE 754-2008) and ISO/IEC TS
  18661-3:2015" . (Evidence Scripted at bottom)

  I proposed the patch to

    /usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/bits/floatn.h

  which lets NVCC (CUDA's compiler) avoid __float128 (NVCC does support
  neither  8.0 nor 9.0).

  So can the patch be merged to glibc2.25 be adopted in Arful or later?

[Bug 1717282] [NEW] [FFe] fix several bugs by sync'ing with Debian

2017-09-14 Thread dann frazier
Public bug reported:

I recently fixed LP: #1706735 in lmbench in sid. While working on that,
I noticed the packaging for lmbench is severely out of date:

W: lmbench source: package-uses-deprecated-debhelper-compat-version 5
E: lmbench source: build-depends-on-obsolete-package build-depends: dpatch
W: lmbench source: patch-system-but-no-source-readme
W: lmbench source: ancient-standards-version 3.8.0 (current is 4.0.0)

So I cleaned that up as well.

I pushed my changes to github, so that they can be examined separately:
