[Bug 1781858] Re: geeqie steals (warps) mouse on remote command

2018-07-16 Thread Jeff Abrahamson
I used the word "warp". Of course, since geeqie is a gtk program, this
might may well be grabbing focus (e.g., gtk_widget_grab_focus or
gtk_container_get_focus_child).

[Bug 1781861] [NEW] qtchooser should select right version when only one is installed

2018-07-16 Thread Michael Thayer
Public bug reported:

I have trouble imagining I am the first person to report this, but I did
not (quickly) find a duplicate. When only one version of Qt is
installed, can qtchooser select it automatically? E.g. when I start
linguist and only have Qt5 installed, could it start Qt5 Linguist?

[Bug 1781867] [NEW] OpenSSL update breaks encryption

2018-07-16 Thread Marco Heinemann
Public bug reported:

This upstream issue https://github.com/hbons/SparkleShare/issues/1855
has got a bugfix release 1.5.1 which enables the migration from OpenSSL
1.0.x to OpenSSL 1.1.x. It fixes the password digesting algorithm to md5
for Sparkleshare versions <2. It should be considered for Ubuntu which
uses releases <2.

Ubuntu 16.04 to 17.10:
$ openssl version
OpenSSL 1.0.2g 1 Mar 2016

Ubuntu 18.04:
$ openssl version
OpenSSL 1.1.0g 2 Nov 2017

The OpenSSL update breaks existing encrypted Sparkleshare repositories.

[Bug 1728244] Re: Touchpad stops working after reboot on Apollo Lake

2018-07-16 Thread Sven Meyer
I have a Yepo 737A and just installed the modified kernel

Kai-Heng Feng (kaihengfeng) wrote on 2018-05-24:#162
Of course. Here's the Kernel:
https://people.canonical.com/~khfeng/lp1728244-testing/

Touchpad is working great! Mouse movement works, corners for left and
right click worked.

I attached (after boot) an external USB-mouse: that one is working great
as well, no problems, no problems with mouse pad while external mouse is
attached, no lag or what so ever.

Great work, thanks a lot. That makes the finally a great cheap Linux
computer.

btw: If you remove the bottom cover and remove the thread for the M.2 SATA SSD,
then it even fits the larger (chewing gum sized) SSDs 2280. I insulated the
metal and fixed the SSD with some tape.
If you really want to do it properly then you add some thermal 1 mm laver on
top so that it touches SSD and metal cover.

I'm not entirely sure on potential regressions of this to consider an SRU for

Due to the unclear risk of regressions and the prove that it is working

there is a discussion clarifying why it is needed and no bug risk.

Re: [Bug 1780527] Re: installation can not finish

2018-07-16 Thread albertas
Thank You, Phillip,

exactly as You explained.

(I have Win7 upgraded to Win10 (and this was installed in BIOS mode) and
besides this I tried to install Ubuntu)

Since my laptop for some reasons did not loaded USB stick, I switched to
support UEFI mode in BIOS.

Hence the problems.

I solved my problems by managing to boot USB in BIOS mode: installation
went flawlessly.

Thank you for support!

[Bug 1753518] Re: package grub-efi-amd64-signed 1.93+2.02-2ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: installed grub-efi-amd64-signed package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2018-07-16 Thread Michael
My hardware: Dell XPS 13 (9343)

I am able to reproduce the error using
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure grub-efi-amd64-signed

Then I thought what might be different on my system, because this kind
of error should normally affect more people. I remembered a BIOS update
some weeks ago. Before attempting to downgrade I had a lucky guess and
deleted the BIOS update file (9343_A17.exe) from /boot/efi - et voila:
the problem seems to be gone.

Can other affected people please try to check their /boot/efi partition
for unneeded files?

I updated my BIOS using this method (putting the exe file from the Dell
support page to /boot/efi and then choosing BIOS update in the F12 boot
menu) since months or even years. So this issue definitelly is a
regression within Ubuntu.

BR, Michael

Render api-paste.ini from charm

Due to misc bugs in the way older versions of the gnocchi packages
installed the api-paste.ini, this file is not treated as a dpkg
configuration file, and as a result @ Queens, the file from the
package is not installed over any previous version.

Include api-paste.ini as part of the charm to ensure that a good
paste configuration is installed for all Gnocchi releases.

[Bug 1781861] Re: qtchooser should select right version when only one is installed

2018-07-16 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
Unfortunately qtchooser upstream rejected this proposal. There is only a
limited set of tools for which it will fall back to any installed
version.

For the rest of tools, we recommend to install qt5-default package which
will make qtchooser always use Qt 5 tools by default.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug when
installing Firefox sometime ago. There have been many changes in Ubuntu
and Firefox since that time. However, your problem should have been
fixed with one of the updates.

It would help us a lot if you could confirm that this issue has been
fixed. However, if it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs
by running once in a terminal:

apport-collect 1563390

and add any additional information that you think relevant.
Alternatively, please confirm that this is no longer a problem and that
we can close the report. If we do not hear from you this bug report will
automatically close in approximately two months time.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 509665] Re: Printing multiple messages to file, gets overwritten

2018-07-16 Thread Orin77
Hi gf,

I'm using Thunderbird 52.9.1 (64-bit), on Ubuntu 17.10 (64-bit).

As I don't have a printer, I can't confirm your findings about the other
messages being printed to the printer. I did install a (dummy)
printer(-driver), to see if the messages would end up in the queue. They
did not appear there, but that might be because there is no actual
printer attached.

My exact reproduction scenario:

In an open Thunderbird:

1) Select a message by single-click;
2) Select second message by Control-click;
3) Select third message by Control-click;
4) Click on "hamburger menu", in upper-right corner to open menu;
5) Choose "Print..." from menu;
6) Choose "Print to File", select Output format PDF, leave filename at default
"~/mozilla.pdf";
7) Click green button "Print" in upper right corner;
8) A popup flashes a few times, indicating the messages being printed.

Check file "~/mozilla.pdf" with a PDF viewer (I used Evince)

The file only contains the LAST message from the selection.

I also tried a variation, after selecting three messages, Control-click
the first one twice (which deselects it, and then re-selects it). After
that, continue with step 4 above. This also prints only the LAST message
to the file. So it seems the selection is printed in order, not "last
selected first", or some such.

regards,
Orin

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug when
installing Firefox sometime ago. There have been many changes in Ubuntu
and Firefox since that time. However, your problem should have been
fixed with one of the updates.

It would help us a lot if you could confirm that this issue has been
fixed. However, if it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs
by running once in a terminal:

apport-collect 1487313

and add any additional information that you think relevant.
Alternatively, please confirm that this is no longer a problem and that
we can close the report. If we do not hear from you this bug report will
automatically close in approximately two months time.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1781889] [NEW] System freezes on restart or shutdown

2018-07-16 Thread zanonmark
Public bug reported:

Using default GRUB parameters ("quiet splash" or even "noquiet"), I'm
unable to reboot or shutdown: the Plymouth circle starts spinning, then
it stops and the system is frozen (altgr+sysrq won't work either).

If I use "acpi=off", I can reboot but obviously the system will not
shutdown (although I can get to a point where it is safe to hold the
power button for 3 seconds).

I also tried "acpi=noirq", "acpi=noapic", "acpi=nolapic", "pci=noacpi"
with no success.

Ubuntu 12.04 worked well, so this is a regression.

Thanks,
MZ

[Bug 1767326] Re: [SRU] Giant icons in Preferred Applications with some icon sets

2018-07-16 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Alistair, or anyone else affected,

Accepted exo into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/exo/0.12.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

** Changed in: exo (Ubuntu Bionic)
Status: In Progress => Fix Committed

** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-bionic

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug when
installing Firefox sometime ago. There have been many changes in Ubuntu
and Firefox since that time. However, your problem should have been
fixed with one of the updates.

It would help us a lot if you could confirm that this issue has been
fixed. However, if it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs
by running once in a terminal:

apport-collect 1698634

and add any additional information that you think relevant.
Alternatively, please confirm that this is no longer a problem and that
we can close the report. If we do not hear from you this bug report will
automatically close in approximately two months time.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.
