Older kernels do not matter. Same effect. Cant login remote. If I use an older sshd it works. If I use a self compiled sshd (same version) it works. Just hit a snag with the new 1.5 upstream version, which I now realize Adam mentioned earlier. It changed the ondisk format[1] and requires an external tool[2] to convert to the new format. This tool (pmdk-convert) is not packaged yet. If we upgrade to 1.5, we would leave 1.4 users with no way to convert to the 1.5 format. @beta-tester I can finally boot with network using the workaround in 18.04.2. Crash kernels come up with the usb subsystem enabled, even when it should be
disabled by default.
[Description]
Since kernel v4.5, the correct parameter to disable USB subsystem
initialization is "usbcore.nousb" always (instead of "nousb" in case the
subsystem is built-in). This was changed by commit 097a9ea0e48 ("usb: make
"nousb" a clear module parameter").
We need to take this into account in kdump-tools, or else we may boot
with USB in kdump even the command-line saying the opposite.
This affects Xenial onwards, since the system may be running an HWE or
other supported v4.5+ kernel.
[Test Case]
1) Deploy a Disco VM e.g. with uvt-kvm
2) Install the kdump-tools package
3) Run `kdump-config test`and check for the 'usbcore.nousb' parameter:

[Regression Potential]
The regression potential is very low, since it doesn't need any changes in
makedumpfile and we're only adding a parameter on the crashkernel cmdline.
According to kernel documentation [0], unknown parameters will be ignored if
they contain a dot (usbcore.nousb), so this change should have no impact on
v4.4 and earlier kernels.
Nonetheless, the fix will be tested with autopkgtests and normal kdump
use-case scenarios.

[Bug 1816551] [NEW] alpine performance regression with IMAP
Public bug reported: Alpine 2.21 has a performance regression with respect to 2.20. The "folder list" screen, which used to appear instantaneously, can repeatedly take 5 to 10s to appear if one has a lot (a hundred or so) of IMAP folders, and the option quell-empty-directories is set. As this screen needs to be entered every time one changes folder, it is very annoying. After correspondence with Eduardo Chappa, alpine's current upstream maintainer, he produced the attached one-line patch which fixes the issue. (See also https://repo.or.cz/alpine.git/commit/35f3426203172af028df5a6e39bc6dea2514020d .) Given that the patch looks simple, and the benefits are considerable, I'd like to suggest updating the 18.04LTS package. After working on the computer for a few hours, I can no longer open any
application (Nautilus, Terminal, etc).
If I already had a terminal open before the issue occurs and I try to
start nautilus from this old terminal, I get the following error:
