Possibly but a single bug is sufficient from Ubuntu's standpoint at this
time. It seems like a problem with the microcode for your processor
(we've heard similar reports from another Linux distribution). We'll
speak with Intel about this. Thanks for all your assistance so far.

[Bug 1828771] Re: Add CAP_AUDIT_WRITE to non-upstream services

2019-05-21 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Christian, or anyone else affected,

Accepted openvpn into disco-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openvpn/2.4.6-1ubuntu3.1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-disco to verification-done-disco. If it does not fix
the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag
to verification-failed-disco. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1803838] Re: Mailman Upgrade to 2.1.29 - Ubuntu 16.04

2019-05-21 Thread Seth Arnold
Hello, we're currently tracking two CVEs in mailman:

https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-security/cve/pkg/mailman.html
https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-security/cve/CVE-2018-0618
https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-security/cve/CVE-2018-13796

We've prioritized both these issues as 'low', which means we won't be
releasing fixes for these issues alone, but will bundle fixes for these
issues with the next issue we prioritize as 'medium' or higher.

Thanks

[Bug 1827330] Re: [block layer] please pull below upstream patch to Ubuntu 19.04 kernel

2019-05-21 Thread Jeff Lane
commit fd9c40f64c514bdc585a21e2e33fa5f83ca8811b
Author: Bart Van Assche
Date: Thu Apr 4 10:08:43 2019 -0700

block: Revert v5.0 blk_mq_request_issue_directly() changes

blk_mq_try_issue_directly() can return BLK_STS*_RESOURCE for requests that
have been queued. If that happens when blk_mq_try_issue_directly() is called
by the dm-mpath driver then dm-mpath will try to resubmit a request that is
already queued and a kernel crash follows. Since it is nontrivial to fix
blk_mq_request_issue_directly(), revert the blk_mq_request_issue_directly()

[Bug 1827330] Re: [block layer] please pull below upstream patch to Ubuntu 19.04 kernel

2019-05-21 Thread Jeff Lane
Hi Shagun,

Could you also try the upstream builds (info below) and make sure the patch
resolves the issue:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds

It looks like this landed upstream right after kernel freeze and thus
wasn't pulled into Disco. Looks like a matter of just very close
timing.

[Bug 1829838] Re: 1.10.14-0ubuntu2 breaks DNS propagation from VPN

2019-05-21 Thread Till Kamppeter
In bug 120 you say:

I had this same issue and I circumvented it installing the update-
systemd-resolved script through the openvpn-systemd-resolved package.

Does this mean that if you install the openvpn-systemd-resolved package
your problem gets solved without downgrading network-manager? Perhaps we
could add a dependency which would install this package automatically.

[Bug 1829917] [NEW] laptop fails to return from suspend after kernel upgrade

2019-05-21 Thread Kenneth Zadeck
Public bug reported:

most of the time when i do a software update that involves installing a
new kernel, the laptop fails to properly restore the screen when
returning from the suspension. (i always reboot after doing the update,
that is not the problem).

I can "fix" this by getting into the power management configuration and
changing something (pretty much anything) and then changing it back.
Once i do this, the computer works properly after a suspend.

It behaves "as if" there were some persistent state whose format or
location changes in an incompatible way with each kernel release and
that this gets reset by the power management app but is not cleared by
the update process.

this is an amd based machine with amd based graphics.

This is a universe package which NetworkManager should not require in
order to properly configure resolved.

2019-05-21 Thread david kunene
Public bug reported:

The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action, was
called for PID 31240 (/usr/sbin/smbd).

This means there was a problem with the program, such as a segfault.
Below is a backtrace for this process generated with gdb, which shows the state
of the program at the time the error occurred. The Samba log files may contain
additional information about the problem.

If the problem persists, you are encouraged to first install the samba-dbg
package, which contains the debugging symbols for the Samba binaries. Then
submit the provided information as a bug report to Ubuntu by visiting this link:

Description:
Most of my ODTs take 25 secs to load in 6.2.3.2., even very small one-word docs.

I have found two WORKAROUNDS:
1) Remove /home/myname/.config/libreoffice, Now the ODT loads fast, but as soon
as I close it and re-open it loads very slowly again.
2) If I cp/paste the contents into a fresh ODT, then this loads quickly every
time.

The problem disappears in 6.3.0.0.alpha1.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load a previously created ODT (example LoadingSlowly_onewordonly.odt,
attached).
2. One of my 8 CPUs maxes out, soffice hogs the CPU, and it takes 25 seconds to
open.

Actual Results:
ODT takes 25secs to load.

Expected Results:
ODT should load within a second, as it is very small.

Reproducible: Always

[Bug 1829785] Re: Evince: ∞ not found

2019-05-21 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Md, or anyone else affected,

Accepted poppler into disco-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/poppler/0.74.0-0ubuntu1.1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-disco to verification-done-disco. If it does not fix
the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag
to verification-failed-disco. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Accepted neutron-fwaas-dashboard into cosmic-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/neutron-fwaas-dashboard/1.5.0-0ubuntu3.1 in a few hours, and then in
the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-cosmic to verification-done-cosmic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-cosmic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1829873] Re: gpgv fails on install

2019-05-21 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1829937] [NEW] provide nvidia GL stack in a subdirectory again to make it bind-mountable for containers

2019-05-21 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

Once upon a time the nvidia GL stack used to be distributed in a
subdirectory instead of directly on the library path, with alternatives-
managed symlinking to inject it into ld.so.conf.d.

Due to the increased prevalence of container-based systems and the
relevance of nvidia drivers for container workloads (AI/ML), it is
important to be able to cleanly bind mount the nvidia userspace drivers
into containers from the host, to ensure the userspace libraries match
the version of the kernel modules.

Therefore we should restore the past behavior of shipping the real files
for the nvidia GL stack in a private subdirectory, so that this
subdirectory can be bind mounted into containers.

Re: [Bug 1829873] Re: gpgv fails on install

2019-05-21 Thread johnoch
Hi Seth,
This occurred in v. 19. I then tried v.18 install and it did not happen.
Unfortunately, I can't replicate the bug as I overwrote all the 19 stuff
with the 18 install and have spent the afternoon setting it up. If I get
round to install 19 again, I'll let you know. Sorry for this and your
wasted time, but you might as well close the issue now.

Kind Regards
John Ochltree
