[Bug 1849269] [NEW] The system cannot resume from S3 if user unplugs the TB16 during suspend state

2019-10-22 Thread AceLan Kao
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Unplug TBT dock during S3 and then wakes up the system leads to system hangs.
This not only happens on Dell TB16, but also Dell WD19TB. It's more like a BIOS
or TBT firmware issue that TBT firmware doesn't re-create the PCIe tunnels.

[Fix]
Mika provides 4 patches to fix this issue, but only 2 are accepted and are
included in linus' tree. We need especially the 4th commit to fix the issue, so
we keep the 3rd and 4th commits as sauce patches.

[Test]
Verified on Dell Precision 5530 + WD19TB

[Regression Potential]
Low, those patches doesn't change the code path much. The 4th commit adds some
checks to return failure state, and it should be safe for those machines which
is working well.

[Bug 1849285] [NEW] [SRU] 3.34.2

2019-10-22 Thread Iain Lane
Public bug reported:

[ Description ]

We missed the release with this one, but we ought to catch up with
upstream.

[ QA ]

Uploaded under the GNOME SRU policy exception.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/GNOME

Please test the terminal keeps working, including changing themes,
multiple tabs and whatever else you can think of.

[ Regression potential ]

The substantive change is around full screen terminals not remaining
full screen sometimes. So check that this keeps working and nothing else
breaks regarding full screening.

[Bug 1844775] Re: HDR support for Ubuntu

2019-10-22 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Still not upstream? We'll have kernel 5.4 in 20.04, and likely won't be
backporting big patchsets like this for it. Sounds like these would have
to wait for the 20.04.2 HWE update in early 2021.. (backported from

[Bug 1830350] Re: System freezes repeatedly for several seconds; wifi driver related errors

2019-10-22 Thread You-Sheng Yang
I had setup a Dell Inspiron 3576 with identical WiFi adapter, tested
latest kernels:

  * 4.15.0-1059-oem
  * 4.15.0-66-generic
  * 5.0.0-1025-oem-osp1
  * 5.0.0-32-generic
  * 5.3.0-19-generic

with firmware from Bionic (1.173.11). Each time I tried to download
ubuntu-desktop iso image, and all succeeded normally with no
error/warning messages appear in dmesg. I think this is no long an
issue.

About firmware versions, the blobs in use ath10k/QCA9377/hw1.0 are of
the same revision between Bionic/Disco/Eoan/Korg, so it's really
irrelevant here.

Can you also direct curl the backend API service, bypassing the proxy?
I'm trying to determine what impact the proxy may/may not be having on
the response provided by the API.

[Bug 1849179] Re: canmount property switches to noauto in user's home dataset

2019-10-22 Thread Didier Roche
I think the issue is that you installed before the final release, as the
properties were renamed from `org.zsys` to `com.ubuntu.zsys` for
property. As zsys isn't seeded by default, we were told to not migrate
the handful of users having installed a pre-released.

Can you confirm that canmount is then correctly set to "on", once you
rename the user's property?

[Bug 1849260] [NEW] libvulkan-dev package doesn't have vk_layer_dispatch_table.h

2019-10-22 Thread Patola
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with latest patches as of Oct 22, 2019.

Description:Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS
Release:18.04

Using ppa:graphics-drivers

packages libvulkan-dev:amd64=1.1.114.0-1~gpu18.04.1 and libvulkan-
dev:i386=1.1.114.0-1~gpu18.04.1from PPA graphics-drivers do not have
/usr/include/vulkan/vk_layer_dispatch_table.h necessary for compilation
of some vulkan programs (e.g. https://github.com/DadSchoorse/vkBasalt).
Also they have .so binary files (e.g. libVkLayer_core_validation.so)
which should better belong to libvulkan1.

[Bug 1845289] Re: Grub EFI amd64 no longer start EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi

2019-10-22 Thread Joseph Maillardet via ubuntu-bugs
I noticed in the attached document of comment #18 that some files were missing:
grub-install: info: cannot open `/usr/lib/shim/shim/fbx64.efi': No such file or
directory.
grub-install: info: cannot open `/usr/lib/shim/mmx64.efi': No such file or
directory.

Because these files come from the "shim" package, I installed it. Then,
I restarted "grub-install" but it didn't have any effect, Windows still
refuses to boot from Grub.

Is it normal that the shim package is not a dependency of grub-efi-
amd64-signed?

[Bug 1781513] Re: package snapd 2.32.9+18.04 failed to install/upgrade: installed snapd package post-installation script subprocess was killed by signal (Terminated)

I suspect you've been able to resolve this, sorry we never got back to
you about it.

I'm closing it as "Won't fix", because we didn't do anything about this,
but if you're still stuck there's probably a cause for this that isn't
necessarily snapd itself and we can probably figure it out.

Again, sorry.

[Bug 1848790] Re: USB not working under arm64 on Pi4

2019-10-22 Thread Hui Wang
Thanks for your testing.

And I remember we need to enable some configs to make the audio work. If
you have time, please have a try with below:

Adding these configs to config.txt

# Enable audio (loads snd_bcm2835)
dtparam=audio=on
disable_audio_dither=on

[Bug 1848862] Re: HP Elitebook 840 G1 - 19.10 - Microphone mute key does not work

2019-10-22 Thread Balint Reczey
Thank you for the bug report. We regularly backport fixes of systemd for
bugs affecting a broad set of users, but this particular problem affect
only users of this specific laptop model.

Could you please report the problem at systemd upstream to automatically
get Ubuntu fixed, too, when packaging the first fixed upstream release?

There is already a similar problem reported against an other HP EliteBook model:

[Bug 1848939] Re: Resume from suspend

2019-10-22 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Would it be possible for you to do a kernel bisection?

First, find the last good -rc kernel and the first bad -rc kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

Then,
$ sudo apt build-dep linux
$ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
$ cd linux
$ git bisect start
$ git bisect good $(the good version you found)
$ git bisect bad $(the bad version found)
$ make localmodconfig
$ make -j`nproc` deb-pkg
Install the newly built kernel, then reboot with it.
If the issue still happens,
$ git bisect bad
Otherwise,
$ git bisect good
Repeat to "make -j`nproc` deb-pkg" until you find the commit that causes the
regression.

I have executed the commands as indicated. I reinstalled grub-efi-amd64
and grub-efi-amd64-signed and ran grub-install -v. You will find the
results of the commands in the attached file.

Windows still refuses to boot from Grub.

[Bug 1849281] [NEW] seccomp: fix SECCOMP_USER_NOTIF_FLAG_CONTINUE test

2019-10-22 Thread Christian Brauner
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
We recently backported SECCOMP_USER_NOTIF_FLAG_CONTINUE in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1847744. On a kernel that
supports SECCOMP_FILTER_FLAG_NEW_LISTENER but not
SECCOMP_USER_NOTIF_FLAG_CONTINUE the selftests currently fail to compile. The
reason is that the ifndef for SECCOMP_USER_NOTIF_FLAG_CONTINUE is placed under
the ifndef for SECCOMP_FILTER_FLAG_NEW_LISTENER.

Fix:
The ifndef for SECCOMP_USER_NOTIF_FLAG_CONTINUE was placed under the
ifndef for the SECCOMP_FILTER_FLAG_NEW_LISTENER feature. This will not
work on systems that do support SECCOMP_FILTER_FLAG_NEW_LISTENER but do not
support SECCOMP_USER_NOTIF_FLAG_CONTINUE. So move the latter ifndef out of
the former ifndef's scope.

Regression Potential:
Limited to seccomp selftests.

Test Case:
Compile the selftests on a kernel that supports
SECCOMP_FILTER_FLAG_NEW_LISTENER but does not support
SECCOMP_USER_NOTIF_FLAG_CONTINUE and see that compilations succeeds.

Target Kernels: All current LTS kernels with access to a 5.0 kernel.

Patches:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/kees/linux.git/commit/?h=for-next/seccomp=2aa8d8d04ca29c3269154e1d48855e498be8882f

[Bug 1777708] Re: Desktop briefly becomes unresponsive when typing on 2 keyboards at the same time

2019-10-22 Thread Darrar Radgrioer
This issue was fixed in Ubuntu 19.10. I switched from 18.04 to Eoan on
2th September and the bug was gone. Unfortunately one month later,
somewhere around the beginning of October I upgraded my 19.10 system and
the bug was present again. Awesome! :D

Since I am a newboy to Linux I dont know ho to roll back this upgrade
and as far as I got it, its not that easy to downgrade gnome while wont
touching the other packages. When somebody knows how to do this, pls go
ahead.

[Bug 1849320] [NEW] MAAS assigns wrong multipath NVMe device

2019-10-22 Thread Heitor Alves de Siqueira
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
MAAS deploys to the wrong NVMe device

[Description]
Since [0], the introduction of NVMe multipath brought a change in the way
namespaces' "identity" is calculated. It's possible to have a "mismatch"
between the nvme device names and their corresponding namespace, similar to the
situation below:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Jul 18 13:25 /sys/block/nvme0n1/device -> ../../nvme1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Jul 18 13:25 /sys/block/nvme1n1/device -> ../../nvme0

This can cause MAAS/curtin to deploy the wrong nvme device, as it's
currently using device names that are subject to change between reboots.
It can be alleviated by using the nvme_core.multipath=0 parameter, but
ideally we should not have MAAS/curtin rely on the device numbers.

A possible solution for this is to ensure that NVMe devices are referred
to by their device ID, as that should keep things consistent between
reboots.

https://git.kernel.org/linus/ed754e5dee

[Test Case]
On a system with multiple NVMe devices, deploy a Custom OS image with MAAS. As
the change to device names is not completely deterministic, below are some
reports of possible symptoms:
- deployed OS ends up in the wrong drive
- disk management presented Disk 0 as uninitialized and Disk 1 with installed OS
- OS fails to boot if only primary drive was listed in boot order

[Regression Potential]
The regression potential for this change should be low, considering that
MAAS/curtin already have the necessary support for referring to storage devices
by their ID. A regression could cause deployments to fail consistently, if the
nvme devices end up being indexed by wrong IDs.
