[Bug 1874834] Re: Xenial builds with core18-based snaps pre-seed core snap instead

2020-04-28 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Robert, or anyone else affected,

Accepted livecd-rootfs into xenial-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-
rootfs/2.408.59 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
xenial to verification-done-xenial. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-xenial. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1874698] Re: [OMEN by HP Laptop 15-dh0xxx, Realtek ALC285, Black Mic, Left] Recording problem

2020-04-28 Thread Wittawat Jitkrittum
• Installed kernel 5.4.0-25-generic that you provided. The command dpkg -i gave
an error about missing headers.
• Comment out dsp_driver=1. Restart.
• Despite some error about missing headers, Grub menu shows a new entry for
kernel 5.4.0-25. I selected it.
• Then I ran alsa-info.

[Bug 1873424] Re: Regression: eog cannot open files via gdk-pixbuf loader in Ubuntu 20.04

2020-04-28 Thread Sebastien Bacher
** Description changed:

+ * Impact
+ That's the current GNOME stable update, including some fixes and translation
updates
+ https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/eog/-/blob/gnome-3-36/NEWS
+
+ * Test case
+
+ The update is part of GNOME stable updates

+ Check that opening images is still working correctly
+
+ * Regression potential
+
+ There are some changes around the shortcut dialog, check that the
+ correct actions are listed there
+
+ -
+
  In Ubuntu 19.10 I was able to view HEIF/HEIC files in Eye of Gnome by
  installing an appropriate gdk-pixbuf loader. In Ubuntu 20.04 eog just
  shows the message "Could not load image . Unrecognized image
  file format".

  The HEIF gdk-pixbuf loader itself seems to work correctly, because
  gcpicview is able to display HEIF images even on Ubuntu 20.04. It's just
  eog that doesn't seem to use the loader anymore.

  I attached an example file 2020-04-11-14-45-361180.heic.

  This command works and displays the file: gpicview

[Bug 1872187] Re: ubuntustudio-controls crashed with IndexError in refresh_dropdowns(): list index out of range

2020-04-28 Thread Len Ovens
What is seen by pavucontrol is not relavent. When jack is running
pavucontrol should show no devices except possibly a bluetooth device.
Instead jack becomes the default "device" or sink, which is what we
want.

However, the traceback does give indication that in some cases the sound
card may not have a description. This condition should be checked for.

[Bug 1870346] Re: Wifi configuration

2020-04-28 Thread Dave Jones
Just booted the focal release image (with netplan 0.99-0ubuntu2) on a
pi3 with a valid wifi config in network-config, and I'm afraid it's the
same as ever: the wifi config is present in /etc/netplan but hasn't been
activated. Running "sudo netplan apply" after logging in brings
everything up successfully.

re: comment10, I haven't checked wait-online service with a non-optional
configuration yet though; that's next on the list. Will update with info
in a bit.

[Bug 1875666] [NEW] [, Intel Kabylake HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] Playback problem

2020-04-28 Thread Afifim
Public bug reported:

background information:
1- I am running an Intel NUC 7i7BNB
2- I have it connected to my TV using HDMI for both video and audio
3- No other Bluetooth sound devices or any Bluetooth devices are paired
4- My TV is Samsung and is connected to Bose sound bar via an optical connection

issue:
after waking from sleep, ubuntu doesn't detect any audio device. Th problem
doesn't exist on boot, it only arises if the PC was sleeping / suspended. It
also happens most of the time but not all the time.
it does happen regardless of whether the TV was on or off when the PC was
waking up.
it also happens regardless of whether the soundbar connected to the TV was on
or off.

to fix it, I have to reboot. Logging out and back in doesn't fix it.

Thanks in advance for all of your hard work and for giving us such an
amazing free environment.

[Bug 1875354] Re: No more smb access after migration to UBUNTU 20.04 from UBUNTU 19.10

2020-04-28 Thread LE POITTEVIN
I confirm that it still works with ubuntu 19.10 up to date.
However, I can't navigate in the windows network. The folder remains empty.
The access by smb://IP/folder works, as well as smbclient //IP/folder but
smbtree tells me "Unable to initialise messaging context" but this seems to be
normal given the version of samba 4.10.7.

[Bug 1875354] Re: No more smb access after migration to UBUNTU 20.04 from UBUNTU 19.10

2020-04-28 Thread Morbius1
"laurent@laurent-iMac:~$ smbclient //192.168.1.1/USB1
...
...
protocol negotiation failed: NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_DISCONNECTED"

You are getting a "protocol negotiation failed" error because the server
can only be accessed with SMB1 ( NT1 ) and there is no SMB1 ( NT1 ) in
the version of samba that comes with Ubuntu 20.

A better approach would be a cifs mount where you can dictate the
dialect of smb but for smbclient to connect you need to add "client min
protocol = NT1" and NOT "client max protocol" to your smb.conf - then
restart smbd.

Then smbclient will connect.

[Bug 1868517] Re: Stray /usr/.crates2.json file

2020-04-28 Thread Paride Legovini
This bug has been reported in Debian [1] against the dh-cargo package,
but fixed in version 0.43.1-3 of the cargo package.

Syncing with Debian will prevent new package builds from having the
stray .crates2.json file, but binary packages built with the buggy
version of cargo need to be rebuilt to get rid of the file.

[Bug 1875669] [NEW] autopkgtest failures

2020-04-28 Thread Dan Streetman
Public bug reported:

[impact]

gvfs autopkgtests are highly flaky and fail across different
releases/archs for multiple different reasons. It's unclear if the
failures are actual package bugs, or just testcase bugs.

[test case]

look at the autopkgtest results:
http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/gvfs

[regression potential]

TBD

[Bug 1875354] Re: No more smb access after migration to UBUNTU 20.04 from UBUNTU 19.10

2020-04-28 Thread LE POITTEVIN
Thank you for your help but I only indicated some tests I had done after
internet research before posting here.
Anyway, despite the changes in the smb.conf that I mentioned at the beginning
of my post, especially concerning the smb1 protocol, smbclient doesn't work. As
I said before posting the debug file, my smb.conf is back to its initial state,
the one that worked under UBUNTU 19.10, and works on my laptop under eoan.
Indeed I read several times that SMB1 was no longer supported under UBUNTU
20.04, does this mean that my NAS (192.168.1.110) won't be able to be seen by
Nautilus other than through a CIFS mount ? As I said, this is the workaround I
used, but it's a shame...
Then, I don't know the protocol used on my Livebox 4 router (192.168.1.1) so I
don't know if it's the same problem.

However in settings->apperiance I have to set the put dock on the 20"

[Bug 1875673] [NEW] printer canon ip4600 only generic text mode

2020-04-28 Thread technobab
Public bug reported:

with ubuntu 19.10, my printer was working fine.
after upgrade to 20.04, cups cannot find the correct driver and install a
generic text only driver.

now, to be able to print pictures and pdf's, I only have 2 solutions:
- boot windows 10 (through my grub multiboot)
- boot an ubuntu 19.10 iso file (through grub -> loop) --> ubuntu 19.10 iso (it
still works fine)

the linux 64 driver is not available any more on canon site (only
windows and mac)

please indicate driver location and installation instructions. thanks

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected focal

** Description changed:

  Carla works very well with the Wine64 Bridge. Only the Wine32 starts the
  VST32 Plugins in a Window with a black screen with the NVIDIA-Meta-
  Driver-440.

  I've uninstalled the wine-development version 5.5 and installed the
  latest winehq-devel 5.7 from WineHQ and recompiled the Carla-Bridges my
  self. Now the Wine32 VST Plugins are working.

- Maybe it's a bug in the wine-development package or something missing in
- the carla package.

[Bug 1875633] Re: blueman-applet devices option bug

2020-04-28 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1875633/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1875642] [NEW] FSVS - not able to commit changes to remote HTTP SVN repo

2020-04-28 Thread Dariusz Kolasinski
Public bug reported:

After upgrading one of my machines to Ubuntu 20.04 fsvs stopped working.
I`m not able to commit changes to remote repo provided by libapache2
-mod-svn. I`ve tried to reproduce it by installing apache2+mod-svn+svn
locally and the result is the same.

SVN client works fine.

same box):

[Bug 1835630] Re: Relax dependency on specific version of libnvidia-compute-NNN

The package shows dependency:

```
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.17), libncursesw6 (>= 6), libnvidia-compute-418, libtinfo6
The libnvidia-compute could instead point to an enumeration? I don't
know how to kludge this for the time being.
the screen thinks that the pc is disconnected and triggers an interrupt, which
then for some other reason flickers the screen.
I'm not well-versed with eDP 1.4, so I assume to be totally wrong.
[Bug 1840844] Re: user with admin role gets logged out when trying to list images
2020-04-28 Thread Nicolas Bock
Copied SRU info to bug description
** Description changed:
+ [Impact]
+
  When admin user tries to access project-> compute -> images, if the user
  failed on the identity: get_project policy, user  will get logged out.
  code that failed is in
  openstack_dashboard/static/app/core/images/images.module.js
  .tableColumns
  .append(
  { id: 'owner', priority: 1, filters:
  [$memoize(keystone.getProjectName)], policies: [
  {rules: [['identity', 'identity:get_project']]}
  ]
  })
  it didn't happen in default Horizon. In our production cloud
  environment, keystone policy is "identity:get_project":
  "rule:cloud_admin or rule:admin_and_matching_target_project_domain_id or
  project_id:%(target.project.id)s". If user is not a cloud_admin,  the
  admin user of a project, need to be member of the domain to satisfies
  the rule.
  The problem here is the admin user should not get logged out.
  It  is probably caused by horizon/static/framework/framework.module.js
    if (error.status === 403) {
   var msg2 = gettext('Forbidden. Redirecting to login');
   handleRedirectMessage(msg2, $rootScope, $window, frameworkEvents,
toastService);
    }
  some log info from keystone
  19389 (oslo_policy._cache_handler): 2019-08-20 02:07:25,856 DEBUG
_cache_handler read_cached_file Reloading cached file /etc/keystone/policy.json
  19389 (keystone.common.wsgi): 2019-08-20 02:07:26,019 WARNING wsgi _call_ You
are not authorized to perform the requested action: identity:get_project.
+
+ [Upstream fix description]
+
+ Before this change when a 403 error was encountered, such as failure to have
the permission to perform an operation, the user would get logged out from UI
pages written in the AngularJS framework. For example, if an admin user lacks
the get_project permission and tries to access the
+ images page, project->compute->images, the 403 will forcibly log out the user.
+
+ This change keeps the user logged in when a 403 error is encountered and
+ displays an error message. The change only affects AngularJS pages.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * Create a new user without the get_project permission
+ * In the dashboard, access project->compute->images
+ * The user will get logged out
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * The patch changes the behavior of the Horizon code in response to a
+ 403 error. The 403 in the original bug report was caused by a missing
+ get_project permission. While unlikely it is possible that this change
+ is incorrect under different error scenarios.
After looking at messages in /home/carolvs/.config/lxqt/debug.log saying
this:
2020-04-28 10:40:46.282 (0x7ffc4e59b1b0) Debug: Listener adapter
polkit_qt_listener_initiate_authentication
2020-04-28 10:40:46.282 (0x7ffc4e59b1b0) Debug: GSimpleAsyncResult:
2020-04-28 10:40:46.282 (0x7ffc4e59b1b0) Debug:
polkit_qt_listener_initiate_authentication callback for  0x55c234c0b400
googled a bit and found that Bug #1828663 pointed to an authorization
problem arising from more than one user in sudo group. Removed all users
but mine via CLI and it works again.
Seem to be a Qt authorization problem related to sudo group.
[Bug 1875649] [NEW] Screen flickering in Kubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo Yoga C940 14-IIL
2020-04-28 Thread Sjoerd Nijboer
Public bug reported:
 Screen flickering in Kubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo Yoga C940 14-IIL
I am filing this bug again in accordance with:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1875073/comments/3
I've deleted the repository and checked again, and the bug still persists.
Old bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1875073
My screen flickers on Kubuntu 20.04LTS.
See: https://imgur.com/a/FoWI1sp
Also affected:
Kubuntu 19.10
Fedora 31
System:
inxi -Gxxx
Graphics:  Device-1: Intel Iris Plus Graphics G7 vendor: Lenovo driver: i915 v:
kernel bus ID: 00:02.0 chip ID: 8086:8a52
   Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.8 driver: modesetting compositor:
kwin_x11 resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz
   OpenGL: renderer: Mesa Intel Iris Plus Graphics (ICL GT2) v: 4.6
Mesa 20.0.4 direct render: Yes
Reproduction scenario's:
1) Starting Kubuntu, screen flickers a couple of times during startup and turns
black for multiple seconds.
2) Start a youtube video, near-constant flickering. Audio works fine.
3) Open up various applications. Screen starts flickering every now and then.
4) Leave pc unattended for a long time, screen starts flickering sporadically.
Things I tried:
* Use various kernels
* linux kernel 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7rc2
* Ubuntu port of linux kernel 3.4.0-26-generic + patch
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/jkrzyszt/i915/-/commit/1ee48a61aa57dbdbc3cd2808d8b28df40d938e44
* intel-drm-next (kernel panic)
* Oibaf PPA
What I think is happening:
i915 is apperantly an unstable driver for eDP 1.4 screens.
That, in combination with a 10'th gen intel cpu is not a good combination.
According to dmesg the firmware of sof-audio-pci is restarting.
[  324.775087] sof-audio-pci :00:1f.3: error: no reply expected,
received 0x0
[  324.866267] sof-audio-pci :00:1f.3: firmware boot complete
Could the audio part of the eDP connection be breaking because of an issue
similar to the patch that is mentioned earlyer?
Proposed solution #3 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-
Re: [Bug 1863434] Re: 20.04 grub menu not visible
2020-04-28 Thread Fritz Hudnut
@swnw:
Thanks for posting that link on "boot-repair" . . . I think I have an older
version of it, but it didn't seem "easy" and it didn't always help out in
my multi-boot situation.  But, might be worth a try.  Interesting that with
a new install of ubuntu the problem reappeared, over the years if grub got
messed up often times running a fresh install would "fix" grub . . .
seemingly in this case, the opposite.
