[Bug 1884933] Re: Backport casper from groovy to support interactive network boot on focal

2020-06-24 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

- * With legacy-server iso in focal it is possible to network boot and
interactively setup networking configuration.
- * This feature lacks in the initrd used by subiquity, and thus is not
available on the live-server.
- * This feature is now implemented in groovy and has been tested to work on
multiple architectures, including s390x specific hardware (zdev code path)
- * Backport this feature to focal for 20.04.1

without plymouth, thus this warning should not be printed.

[Bug 1884940] [NEW] after login to gnome, kern.log slowly fills with snd_hda_intel 0000:00:1f.3: No response from codec

2020-06-24 Thread Gilbertf
Public bug reported:

Laptop : Dell XPS 2020 9300
Pre-loaded with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Latest BIOS, latest available kernel, all updates applied

linux kernel 5.0.0-1059-oem-osp1

After I log to Gnome, the kern.log fills itself with lines reporting
this :

One per second. This lasts 10 to 15 seconds.

Then, I see some lines but I do not know if they are related to this :

No idea if this is related to the messages with the sound card.

Well in the latest version
https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/focal/tree/arch/arm64/configs/bcm2711_defconfig?h=raspi
 I see that both 'CONFIG_CLK_RASPBERRYPI' and 'CONFIG_ARM_RASPBERRYPI_CPUFREQ'
are set to 'y' why do you think it was disabled again?

> Is it sufficient simply to re-enable CONFIG_CLK_RASPBERRYPI?
I don't know, but the original commit also enabled
CONFIG_ARM_RASPBERRYPI_CPUFREQ=y

If Hui Wang meant with his comment#7[1] something different than
enabling 'CONFIG_CLK_RASPBERRYPI' and 'CONFIG_ARM_RASPBERRYPI_CPUFREQ' I
don't know what it is.

Thank you for your bug report. Is your user an admin one (what's the

Which type of connection did you try to activate and how? could you try
if you get the same issue under GNOME?

[Bug 1884265] Re: [fips] Not fully initialized digest segfaulting some client applications

2020-06-24 Thread Dariusz Gadomski
** Description changed:

In FIPS mode on Bionic MD5 is semi-disabled causing some applications to
  segfault.

  Test case:
  sudo apt install ntp
  ntpq -p
  Segmentation fault (core dumped)

What happens there is ntpq wants to iterate all available digests
(list_digest_names in ntpq.c). It uses EVP_MD_do_all_sorted for this
  task.

  EVP_MD_do_all_sorted eventually runs openssl_add_all_digests_int in c_alld.c.
  For FIPS mode it adds:
  EVP_add_digest(EVP_md5());

What happens later in ntpq is (list_md_fn function inside ntpq.c):
  ctx = EVP_MD_CTX_new();
  EVP_DigestInit(ctx, EVP_get_digestbyname(name));
  EVP_DigestFinal(ctx, digest, _len);

- First digest it gets is MD5, but while running EVP_DigestInit for it, it gets
to this point:
+ First digest it gets is MD5, but while running EVP_DigestInit for it, it gets
to this point (openssl/crypto/evp/digest.c EVP_DigestInit_ex):
  #ifdef OPENSSL_FIPS
- if (FIPS_mode()) {
- if (!(type->flags & EVP_MD_FLAG_FIPS)
- && !(ctx->flags & EVP_MD_CTX_FLAG_NON_FIPS_ALLOW)) {
- EVPerr(EVP_F_EVP_DIGESTINIT_EX, EVP_R_DISABLED_FOR_FIPS);
- return 0;
- }
- }
+ if (FIPS_mode()) {
+ if (!(type->flags & EVP_MD_FLAG_FIPS)
+ && !(ctx->flags & EVP_MD_CTX_FLAG_NON_FIPS_ALLOW)) {
+ EVPerr(EVP_F_EVP_DIGESTINIT_EX, EVP_R_DISABLED_FOR_FIPS);
+ return 0;
+ }
+ }
  #endif

Due to type->flags for MD5 being 0 there's an error set
(EVP_R_DISABLED_FOR_FIPS).
  After getting back to ntpq.c:
ctx->engine and ctx->digest are not set (due to the mentioned error), hence

  inside EVP_DigestFinal_ex (openssl/crypto/evp/digest.c)
  OPENSSL_assert(ctx->digest->md_size <= EVP_MAX_MD_SIZE);
causes a segfault (ctx->digest is NULL).

So either MD5 shouldn't be added in FIPS mode or it should have the
  EVP_MD_FLAG_FIPS to be properly initialized.

ok, if you don't want to register on gitlab it's fine

please provide some details though

- is the issue specific to a folder?
- do you get any error displayed in 'journalctl' when you trigger the bug?
- which processes are using the most CPU in 'top'?

[Bug 1884822] Re: nautilus search bar generates high cpu usage - no reaction on 1st double-click

2020-06-24 Thread Matthias Sprau
** Description changed:

If I try to find e.g. a certain music file, I browse in nautilus to the
folder "music" and start typing "mo":
  - cpu usage is prompt very high although the correct folder is shown

  - if I use a double-click on the requested folder, nothing happens; only on
the second try the double-click opens that folder

  Goal:
  - the first double-click should open the requested folder

[Bug 1869364] Re: glibc pwd/test-getpw test failures in autopkgtest

2020-06-24 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
So I managed to reproduce the test failure in an arm64 vm, and narrowed
it down to this:

ubuntu@juju-b11c42-ubuntu-24:/tmp/autopkgtest.0yUqH9/build.EJr/src/build-tree/arm64-libc/pwd$
 ./tst-getpw
PASS: NULL buffer returns -1 and sets errno to EINVAL.
PASS: Read a password line given a uid.
PASS: Found an invalid uid.
ubuntu@juju-b11c42-ubuntu-24:/tmp/autopkgtest.0yUqH9/build.EJr/src/build-tree/arm64-libc/pwd$
 /lib/ld-linux-aarch64.so.1 ./tst-getpw
PASS: NULL buffer returns -1 and sets errno to EINVAL.
PASS: Read a password line given a uid.
FAIL: Did not find even one invalid uid.

which doesn't make a lot of sense but is somewhere to start...

[Bug 1873809] Re: Make linux-kvm bootable in LXD VMs

2020-06-24 Thread Stefan Bader
@Stéphane, I have now followed your steps from commant #38 (was using the
official ubuntu image before with cloud-init and that does a initrd-less boot
first which is successful for me) but this does not show me the error you see
either. And a break=top does work (with some complaints about tty1 which is
expected due to the missing efi-fb).
I double-checked the initramfs compression setting and that is lz4.

This is rather weird. I will try on a different hw but that really
should not be relevant. For double checking: which LXD version are you
using? I am on the focal/stable/4.0 stream:

lxd4.0.115682 4.0/stable/… canonical✓

[Bug 1881196] Re: [SRU] postfix tls deploy-server-cert fails with "can't shift that many"

2020-06-24 Thread Robie Basak
Hello robert, or anyone else affected,

Accepted postfix into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postfix/3.4.13-0ubuntu1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1880869] Re: Use persistent device name for vdevs

2020-06-24 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

- * An explanation of the effects of the bug on users and
+  * ZFS pools were created with device names such as /dev/sdX,
+ /dev/vdX,... However, these names are not stable and may change on each
+ reboot, leading to an unbootable system.

- * justification for backporting the fix to the stable release.
-
- * In addition, it is helpful, but not required, to include an
-explanation of how the upload fixes this bug.
+ * "zpool create" now uses persistent device names with PARTUUID
+ instead.

  [Test Case]

- * detailed instructions how to reproduce the bug
-
- * these should allow someone who is not familiar with the affected
-package to reproduce the bug and verify that the updated package fixes
-the problem.
+  * detailed instructions how to reproduce the bug

  [Regression Potential]

- * discussion of how regressions are most likely to manifest as a result
- of this change.
-
- * It is assumed that any SRU candidate patch is well-tested before
-upload and has a low overall risk of regression, but it's important
-to make the effort to think about what ''could'' happen in the
-event of a regression.
-
- * This both shows the SRU team that the risks have been considered,
-and provides guidance to testers in regression-testing the SRU.
+  * Likely low risk of regression. Worst case system doesn't boot after a
+ fresh installation which is better than today because the system may
+ boot but subsequent boots may not.

  [Other Info]
-
- * Anything else you think is useful to include
- * Anticipate questions from users, SRU, +1 maintenance, security teams and
the Technical Board
- * and address these questions in advance
+
+  * Already shipped in GRoovy

  [Original Bug report]

ZFS pools are currently created with device names such as /dev/sdX,
/dev/vdX,... However, this name is not stable and may change on each reboot.
"zpool create" must use persistent device names like UUID or PARTUUID instead.

2) I will get AIDA info for you, meanwhile, I'm already having this

[Bug 1884288] Re: [LapBook Pro] Touchpad sometimes does not work when machine is restarted

2020-06-24 Thread Ian Hand
I restarted the laptop again to see if it helps and it is back working.
I am not sure if this helps but when I move the touchpad around and
pressing the left and right during the startup screen it seems it may
help, I am not sure if this is complete nonsense or not.

It is now listed in the evtest:

I can confirm event 4 is indeed the touchpad as lots of extra
information appears when event 4 is investigated when touchpad is in
use.

[Bug 1878721] Re: memcached looks for SASL configuration at wrong path /etc/sasl2/memcached.conf/memcached.conf (18.04→20.04 regression)

2020-06-24 Thread Robie Basak
Hello Anders, or anyone else affected,

Accepted memcached into eoan-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/memcached/1.5.10-0ubuntu3.1 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
eoan to verification-done-eoan. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-eoan. In either case, without details of your testing we will not
be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1884780] Re: MariaDB fails to start when using galera cluster on 20.04 LTS

Hi Justin!
Thanks a lot for your detailed report.

This should be fixed in 10.3.23 that is already available on official MariaDB
repository:
https://jira.mariadb.org/browse/MDEV-21140

So another workaround is to install MariaDB from MariaDB Foundation repo:

[Bug 1447664] Re: 14e4:1687 broadcom tg3 network driver disconnects under high load

2020-06-24 Thread Bob Lawrence
I did not apply the patch in #13, but I did try disabling highdma with
ethtool (essentially what the patch makes permanent) and that had no
effect for me (at least not on the kernel I was using at the time). I
did try the patch in #40 and that had no effect for me either. The only
thing I've found that keeps my Broadcom 5762 alive without disconnecting
is the kernel parameter "iommu=pt". I'm just finally grateful to have
found a workaround so I can keep this server wired and not have to rely
on its wireless only.

I can't help but think we are chasing a moving target across so many
kernel versions since this issue was first reported.

[Bug 1884232] Re: touchpad doesn't work at all on ACER Spin 5

2020-06-24 Thread Bjorn Helgaas
1) Sorry, I don't have a PPA or similar kernel image for you to try.

2) I expected that Windows would move 00:1f.5 BAR 0 to be inside the
windows reported by the PCI0 _CRS, but the AIDA64 report shows
otherwise:

B00 D1F F05: Intel Ice Point-LP PCH - SPI (Flash) Controller

  Offset 000: 86 80 A4 34 06 04 00 00 30 00 80 0C 00 00 00 00
  Offset 010: 00 00 01 FE 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

BAR 0 is at offset 0x10, and it still contains the value BIOS put there
(0xfe01).

I don't know why Linux couldn't find space for 00:1f.5 BAR 0. Tracing
the resource assignment code with 'dyndbg="file drivers/pci/* +p"' and
possibly some new trace messages might give a clue.

When Linux fails to assign space, it tries to revert to the BIOS
assignment ("BAR 0: trying firmware assignment [mem
0xfe01-0xfe010fff]"). Apparently we declined to use that BIOS
assignment because it "conflicts with Reserved [mem
0xfc80-0xfe7f]". Perhaps Linux should ignore that conflict.

That "Reserved [mem 0xfc80-0xfe7f]" comes from the E820 map, and
the Linux handling of that map is somewhat haphazard.

2020-06-24 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

I think it's unlikely that we would make this change in Ubuntu without
the support of Debian or upstream. Given that you had to patch net-snmp
to support OpenSSL 1.1.0, any chance you could get that patch upstreamed
(if it isn't already) so that Debian might be able to make this change,
and then Ubuntu could pick it up in the future?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1868955] Please test proposed package

2020-06-24 Thread Robie Basak
Hello Jan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted postfix into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/postfix/3.4.13-0ubuntu1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1884848] Re: sshguard.service uses wrong path for iptables; nothing actually gets blocked

2020-06-24 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Well, this is not a usr-merge bug per-se, but just a bug that usr-merge
actually fixes for people.

iptables in focal has moved from /sbin/iptables to /usr/sbin/iptables.
The hardcoded path in sshguard.service was not updated, and thus is
broken. usr-merged systems do not experience this issue, because any
binary is accesible from either / or /usr prefix.

[Bug 1884933] [NEW] Backport casper from groovy to support interactive network boot on focal

2020-06-24 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

 * With legacy-server iso in focal it is possible to network boot and
interactively setup networking configuration.
 * This feature lacks in the initrd used by subiquity, and thus is not
available on the live-server.
 * This feature is now implemented in groovy and has been tested to work on
multiple architectures, including s390x specific hardware (zdev code path)
 * Backport this feature to focal for 20.04.1

[Test Case]

 * Build live-server iso with proposed pocket enabled

 * Download just the kernel & initrd artefacts

 * Boot kerenl & initrd and specify ignore_uuid kernel cmdline
parameter, but nothing about ip= or url= and _without_ any subiquity iso
attached.

 * Wait for boot to offer to perform network boot, configure networking,
and accept default url, await to be booted to subiquity welcome screen

[Regression Potential]

 * Previously when booting kernel/initrd without iso attached to the
machine, the boot would fail and drop to emergency shell. Now
interactive network setup is offered, and if that fails, then drop to
emergency shell. So whilst there is added interactivity, eventually
dropping to emergency shell is still there.

[Other Info]

 * There are many other bug reports requesting this feature, all of which will
be closed once this update lands on the daily isos.

[Bug 1875045] Re: Ubiquity 20.04 exports existing ZFS pools

2020-06-24 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

- * An explanation of the effects of the bug on users and
+  * Ubiquity unmounts everything that could be mounted on the target file
+ system when it starts and on tear down. For ZFS it exports all the
+ pools.

- * justification for backporting the fix to the stable release.
+  * If a user had existing pools, they are exported too.

- * In addition, it is helpful, but not required, to include an
-explanation of how the upload fixes this bug.
+  * This fix only unmount pool that are used as a target for the
+ installation, leaving alone any other pool.

  [Test Case]

- * detailed instructions how to reproduce the bug
+  1. Boot a live session
+ 2. Create a new pool with:
+ $ zpool create -R /mnt tpool /dev/vda
+ 3. Verify that the pool is created with zpool list
+ 4. Start ubiquity
+ 5. Quit ubiquity

- * these should allow someone who is not familiar with the affected
-package to reproduce the bug and verify that the updated package fixes
-the problem.
+ => Verify that the pool is still there with zpool list. Without the fix,
+ tpool is exported.

-
- [Other Info]
-
- * Anything else you think is useful to include
- * Anticipate questions from users, SRU, +1 maintenance, security teams and
the Technical Board
- * and address these questions in advance
+  * Low risk of regression. Worst case, the bug is not fixed and pools
+ are still unmounted.

mostly looking good now, just another twist on https enabling.
We have three types:

The latter right now is no without but should not change due to this.
Should be not too complex to change.

[Bug 1884942] [NEW] Nautilus doesn't provide a way to handle changed SSH key

2020-06-24 Thread Avi Schwartz
Public bug reported:

I rebuilt one of my machines from scratch which means that the ssh key
has changed. While I can connect to that machine from the command line
via ssh, if I try to connect to it via Nautilus all I get is a "Host key
verification failed" error. When using the command line I get notified
which line in known_hosts is the offending one so I can remove it if it
is legit. Nautilus doesn't report the offending line.

Is there a way to force a connect? Or at least get Nautilus to report
the offending line in known_hosts? Otherwise I have to remove the
known_hosts file but this is not a good solution.

[Bug 691590] Re: libvirt restore exactly the old ownership of images

2020-06-24 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
We are lucky - tests that ran over night LGTM nothing happened.
In the meantime MP [1] review by the team also completed.

[Bug 1884848] Re: sshguard.service uses wrong path for iptables; nothing actually gets blocked

2020-06-24 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * sshguard.service does not start correctly on systems upgraded from bionic
to focal.
+ * sshguard.service hardcodes paths to iptables binary. However, said path
has changed in focal+ in the iptables package.
+ * This issue impacts installations of bionic that upgrade to focal, but not
new installs of focal. Newly installed focal systems have usr-merge feature,
which all binaries accessible from either / or /usr prefix. This is not the
case yet, when upgrading from bionic.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * Install bionic
+ * Install sshguard, check that it starts
+ * dist-upgrade to focal
+ * Check that sshguard runs and that iptables rules are updated
+
+ [Workaround]
+
+ * Users can convert their systems to usrmerge to mitigate the issue by doing:
+$ sudo apt install usrmerge
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * The bugfix to update to the correct path will work on either
+ upgraded, or freshly installed systems. Currently sshguard is quite
+ broken without sshguard firewall rules applied correctly. After
+ installing this update, users may experience that sshguard is
+ enforcing/blocking access, whilst previously it was very ineffective at
+ doing so.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ * Original bug report
+
  sshguard 2.3.1-1ubuntu1; focal

  /lib/systemd/system/sshguard.service has:

  ExecStartPre=-/sbin/iptables -N sshguard
  ExecStartPre=-/sbin/ip6tables -N sshguard
  ExecStopPost=-/sbin/iptables -X sshguard
  ExecStopPost=-/sbin/ip6tables -X sshguard

iptables and ip6tables are now in /usr/sbin, not /sbin. So the sshguard
  chain never gets created/deleted.

sshg-fw-iptables assumes that this chain exists, so it fails to actually
  block any attacker:

Jun 23 22:54:18 fenrir sshguard[677248]: Attack from "192.0.2.1" on service
110 with danger 10.
  Jun 23 22:54:18 fenrir sshguard[677248]: Blocking "192.0.2.1/32" for 122880
secs (3 attacks in 1 secs, after 11 abuses over 184099 secs.)
  Jun 23 22:54:18 fenrir sshguard[1191669]: iptables: No chain/target/match by
that name.
Jun 23 23:46:49 fenrir sshguard[1198650]: iptables: Bad rule (does a matching
rule exist in that chain?).

[Bug 1884758] Re: merge latest ipxe from Debian unstable

2020-06-24 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Compat thoughts
- as is we need to keep ipxe-qemu-256k-compat-efi-roms as long as we support
guests started and not restarted ever since Bionic which translates to Bionic
support time ~2028
- if we can revert the size from 512k to 256k nnow we still need it installed
and
  around the same time.
  - We just would need another qemu delta on machine types to know about the
size change
  - And we'd break backwards migration again.

There is actually no gain in using the new size, but in turn I'd need to
be able to pad the rom's to be inside 256-512k without breaking them
functionally.

[Bug 1884288] Re: [LapBook Pro] Touchpad sometimes does not work when machine is restarted

2020-06-24 Thread Ian Hand
Unfortunately event 3 is not the touchpad, nor is 4, see below:

EVENT 3:

Input device name: "Intel HID events"
Supported events:
  Event type 0 (EV_SYN)
  Event type 1 (EV_KEY)
Event code 69 (KEY_NUMLOCK)
Event code 102 (KEY_HOME)
Event code 104 (KEY_PAGEUP)
Event code 107 (KEY_END)
Event code 109 (KEY_PAGEDOWN)
Event code 113 (KEY_MUTE)
Event code 114 (KEY_VOLUMEDOWN)
Event code 115 (KEY_VOLUMEUP)
Event code 116 (KEY_POWER)
Event code 142 (KEY_SLEEP)
Event code 164 (KEY_PLAYPAUSE)
Event code 166 (KEY_STOPCD)
Event code 224 (KEY_BRIGHTNESSDOWN)
Event code 225 (KEY_BRIGHTNESSUP)
Event code 240 (KEY_UNKNOWN)
Event code 247 (KEY_RFKILL)
  Event type 4 (EV_MSC)
Event code 4 (MSC_SCAN)

EVENT 4:

Input device name: "Intel HID 5 button array"
Supported events:
  Event type 0 (EV_SYN)
  Event type 1 (EV_KEY)
Event code 114 (KEY_VOLUMEDOWN)
Event code 115 (KEY_VOLUMEUP)
Event code 116 (KEY_POWER)
Event code 125 (KEY_LEFTMETA)
Event code 240 (KEY_UNKNOWN)
Event code 561 (?)
  Event type 4 (EV_MSC)
Event code 4 (MSC_SCAN)

The rest do not appear to relate to the touchpad.

Let me check that in detail...

[Bug 1882671] Re: unbalanced UEFI TPL manipulations in iPXE with DOWNLOAD_PROTO_HTTPS enabled

2020-06-24 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
@Lazlo - are combined roms breaking your suggestion to "just disable https in
efi roms"?
In the build for the efi roms it uses this at some point:
  src/util/catrom.pl src/bin-i386-pcbios/82540em.rom
src/bin-x86_64-efi/82540em.efirom > src/bin-combined/82540em.efirom

So the *efi* file in ipxe-qemu will be a combined rom (since 2013).
Of these the legacy one will have HTTPS enabled and the EFI part won't.
Would you expect that this is a problem for the suggested workaround (I don't
but would be glad if you would let me know what you think about it)?
