[Bug 1803604]

2020-11-26 Thread Bernard Moreton
There is a new twist to this saga.
With LO 7.0.1.2 today I get an error message
/home/mbm/.claws-mail/mimetmp/.comments: unlink: Is a directory

** (claws-mail:12915): WARNING **: 10:04:23.190: failed to convert encoding of
file name: Invalid byte sequence in conversion input
malloc_consolidate(): invalid chunk size

This happens whether I set email (Tools,Option) as blank, or as xdg-email
In either case, using my proposed patched form of sesnddoc, I get a Claws-mail
error window within a Compose window. On acknowledging the message, Claws
crashes.

If I use the version of senddoc that comes with LO 7.0.1.2, I get no
Compose window, and Claws-mail simply crashes.

This was working ok a fortnight ago, with LO 7.0.1.2
Claws-mail has not changed in Ubuntu 20.04 since then.
I wonder whether uri-encode is no longer working properly?

And if I export my LO document to a file, then I can Compose, and attach
that file, and send, all ok

2020-11-26 Thread Kleber Sacilotto de Souza
I confirm that ndiswrapper 1.60-8ubuntu3 dkms module can be built and
loaded successfully with linux 5.4:

$ dkms status

And the build is skipped as expected with linux-hwe 5.8:

[Bug 1900803] Re: BOINC client fails to detect when the system is idle

** Description changed:

- BOINC client 7.16.6 packaged for Ubuntu 20.04 fails to detect when the

is idle. So, if you set your projects to run after the system has been idle for
x minutes, computations will never start and remain in status "Suspended -

This is a regression compared to older versions (7.16.3 for instance).
Seems to be fixed upstream in 7.16.11, see:

issue fixed with a service file change, and the other in the detection code due

[Bug 1905735] Re: ubuntu-image autopkgtests failing since pytohn-debian 0.1.38

2020-11-26 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
** Description changed:

In the tests it seems that since some - yet to be found - change ~20th
Nov the tests of ubuntu-image fail.

Tests all list those three sub-tests as failing:
- unittests.sh FAIL non-zero exit status 1
- qa FAIL non-zero exit status 1
- coverage.sh FAIL non-zero exit status 1
+  unittests.sh FAIL non-zero exit status 1
+  qa FAIL non-zero exit status 1
+  coverage.sh FAIL non-zero exit status 1

Fails all seem to be related to some python/pytest/py* change that might
have slipped in without gating on this test.

Ubuntu-image itself also isn't new - still the same as in groovy

Apparently the issue is that the PPA does not build/have Focal yet (no

[Bug 1857584] Re: MySQL X protocol port 33060 listening on network by default

2020-11-26 Thread Marc Deslauriers
I don't think having the port open by default is acceptable. It was
clearly an oversight when the new MySQL version was prepared, and I
suspect a lot of users are now running an open port without knowing
about it.

While publishing out an update that closes the port may break certain
configurations, I don't think it is appropriate to leave it open by
default.

As such, I will be preparing a security update for focal that closes the
open port, along with an appropriate USN that notifies users about the
change in behaviour.

[Bug 1905469] Re: USB3.0 lost after 18LTS->20LTS upgrade

2020-11-26 Thread Jouni Mettala
In order to allow additional upstream mainline kernel developers to examine the
issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest mainline
kernel? Please keep in mind the following:
1) The one to test is in a folder at the very top of the page (not the daily
folder).
2) The release names are irrelevant.
3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was
released upstream.
4) Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds .

If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may:
1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there.
2) Backup, or clone the primary install.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the mainline kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is not reproducible in the mainline
kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a
black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the Bug
Description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is
the release candidate number if it exists.

If the issue is reproducible with the mainline kernel, please add the following
tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically
requested to do so.

In addition, to keep this issue relevant to upstream, please continue to
test the latest mainline kernel as it becomes available.

Lastly, it is most helpful that after testing of the latest mainline
kernel is complete, you mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1903952] [NEW] focal:linux-hwe-5.8 lttng-modules dkms failure

2020-11-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Impact: lttng-modules-dkms fail to build on Focal with the linux-hwe-5.8
kernel.

Fix: Use version 2.12.2 instead of 2.11.2. That would bring it in line
with the version used in groovy.

Testcase: Attempt to build the currently-available 2.11.2 - observe that
it fails. Create a new package using the groovy source package, confirm
that it builds and installs successfully. Furthermore, I was able to
successfully manually modprobe all the .ko files that were built.

Regression potential: Technically this doesn't work on the 5.8 hwe
kernel in focal right now, so it cannot be any more broken than it
currently is. The 2.12.2 version is identical to the one currently used
in groovy.

[Bug 1905729] [NEW] power button conifiguration broken

2020-11-26 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Public bug reported:

I'm not able to suspend the machine anymore by pressing the power
button, instead a popup saying the machine will be shut down in 60s
appears. The settings for configuring the behaviour is no longer visible
in control center. And selecting suspend from the menu now asks for my
password.

[Bug 1905735] [NEW] ubuntu-image autopkgtests failing since pytohn-debian 0.1.38

2020-11-26 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Public bug reported:

In the tests it seems that since some - yet to be found - change ~20th
Nov the tests of ubuntu-image fail.

Tests all list those three sub-tests as failing:
 unittests.sh FAIL non-zero exit status 1
qa FAIL non-zero exit status 1
 coverage.sh FAIL non-zero exit status 1

Fails all seem to be related to some python/pytest/py* change that might
have slipped in without gating on this test.

Ubuntu-image itself also isn't new - still the same as in groovy
 ubuntu-image | 1.10+20.10ubuntu2 | groovy | source, all
 ubuntu-image | 1.10+20.10ubuntu2 | hirsute| source, all

The issue reproducible in local KVM-autopkgtest against hirsute-proposed and
hirsute-release for me (I mistyped before).
Example:
 sudo ~/work/autopkgtest/autopkgtest/runner/autopkgtest --no-built-binaries
--apt-upgrade --apt-pocket=proposed --shell-fail
ubuntu-image_1.10+20.10ubuntu2.dsc --testname=qa -- qemu --qemu-options='-cpu
host' --ram-size=1536 --cpus 2 ~/work/autopkgtest-hirsute-amd64.img

In terms of similar bug signatures I found
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=973227
Fixed by:
https://gitlab.kitware.com/debian/dh-cmake/-/commit/3337c8e0e9ebd109490d3c40f0bd5c1e367bedc8

Looking for the same issue in ubuntu-image has shown an entry in setup.py
  setup.py:49:__version__ = str(Changelog(infp).get_version())

And now that we know all that we see
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-debian/+publishinghistory

New version in since
2020-11-20 02:23:27 CET

That is a perfect match to our bug.

[Bug 1905285] Re: socket-activated sshd breaks on concurrent connections

2020-11-26 Thread Marcin Słowik
Hello Segio,

Have you tried editing ssh@.service as well? In my case, sshd.service ->
ssh.service and that is not used when ssh is in socket-activated mode,
ssh@.service is, at least that's how I understand systemd.

I now understand how to override the unit files with [unit-
file].d/override.conf files and that at least fixes the overwrite on
update issue (although I must say it's a bit unintuitive, since some of
the /usr/lib/systemd/system configs are symlinked from
/etc/systemd/system and IIRC you should be allowed to modify configs
under /etc, but I digress). AFAICT that's precisely what `systemctl
edit` does.

Seth, thank you for linking the manpage, it was... educational to say
the least :).

[Bug 1905791] [NEW] Resizing in awesome WM makes chromium stop redrawing its window

2020-11-26 Thread Balint Reczey
Public bug reported:

Start chromium in awesome.
Start a new terminal.
Try clicking on chromium. It is working, it is just not redrawn making it
mostly useless.

The last version that worked for sure was the 1328 snap version, but it
is not available anymore.

Reproducible on Ubuntu 20.04 and 21.04. Maybe on other releases as well.

[Bug 1835660] Re: initramfs unpacking failed

2020-11-26 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
NAK on the linux patch.

I think this is a grub bug.

When loading multiple initrds, grub aligns_up each one of them at 4bytes
boundary, and allocates pages for that. And it declares and passes
ramdisk_image as the total allocated memory. Rather than the true size
of the initrds.

[Bug 1868703] Re: Support "ad_use_ldaps" flag for new AD requirements (ADV190023)

2020-11-26 Thread Matthew Ruffell
Verification for sssd on Bionic:

The customer tested sssd from -updates, version 1.16.1-1ubuntu1.6 and
the package from -proposed, version 1.16.1-1ubuntu1.7.

Begins:

Before applying the patch [package from -proposed] I confirmed open
ports to our domain controllers using ss and grepping for the DC IPs.
Before the patch 389 and 3268 were being actively used.

After the patch [installing the package from -proposed] (and after
running a few user queries with `id`) ports 636 and 3269 were being
used.

Ends.

This matches my testing and testing Tobias has done, so happy to mark
sssd as verified for Bionic.

[Bug 1905793] [NEW] latest poppler xenial update breaks xpdf

2020-11-26 Thread Graham Denham
Public bug reported:

There were three updates over the last two days. with poppler
(0.41.0-0ubuntu1.16) I find xpdf (3.04-1-ubuntu1.1) crashes on startup,
on any file, every time. The version 0.41.0-0ubuntu1.13 worked
correctly. I'm not sure about the ones in between.

Perhaps this is a classic bug, back again. See, e.g.,

[Bug 1894017] Re: Keyboard not working

2020-11-26 Thread Hans de Goede
chassis_type 31 is "Convertible", so we expect the intel-vbtn
SW_TABLET_MODE reporting to work there.

There was one other HP model which had a bit of a weird issue, this was
fixed by:

https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=d823346876a970522ff9e4d2b323c9b734dcc4de

But that workaround got dropped when we switched to ignoring
SW_TABLET_MODE on all devices where the chassis_type is not 31 or 32,
since the model which needed that fix ("HP Pavilion 11 x360") uses a
chassis_type of 10, so that workaround was no longer needed.

So now it seems that we should not have dropped the workaround as
possibly more HP models need it. If you can build your own 5.9.10 kernel
with the linked workaround applied, and test it that would be great.

There should be docs somewhere on how to build an ubuntu kernel with
patches applied yourself. If you do not feel up to doing this yourself,
then please say so, then one of the Ubuntu devs should be able to
provide a test kernel with the patch added for you.

[Bug 1877844] Re: [SRU] data corruption issue in all versions before 1.1.11

2020-11-26 Thread Steve Dodd
Given this is a *known data corrupting bug* declared by upstream, it
would seem really odd to hold up the release for bionic and focal, where
the solution is just an upgrade to the upstream version containing the
fix! (I can possibly see the argument for being more careful with
cherrypicked patches.)

Unless upstream has published a detailed test case there may not be one
accessible to us.

[Bug 1877844] Re: [SRU] data corruption issue in all versions before 1.1.11

I've gone through the upstream bug
https://github.com/borgbackup/borg/issues/4829 and not found any data
which could be used as a test case. While the description of the bug
there is quite detailed, I think one would have to be incredibly
familiar with borg internals & code to create a reproducer.

upgrade sosreport to 4.X beginning of 2021.

[Bug 1802533] Re: [MIR] pipewire

2020-11-26 Thread Rasmus Eneman
Hello, what is the status of this MIR? Getting screen sharing to work in
Wayland would be a huge improvement in times like these and I'm weary of
the "Unassigned, importance low" status that this currently have.

Re: [Bug 1905114] Re: Lenovo System Firmware update will not download or install and Impress 7.0 crashes

2020-11-26 Thread Lillian R Davis
Thank you for looking into this issue for me.

I'm not clear on what is a frontend. The error I receive is "unable to
update because it blocked" or something to that effect.

As far as the other issue with Impress, I have gone to the community
pages but no one has successful found the solution or work around that
will fix this issue. From my research, this issue is has been going on
since about 2012 with Impress.

Please, let me know what other information you need to resolve these
bugs.

[Bug 1884432] Re: Kate does not show in applications

2020-11-26 Thread Václav Pavlík
I have found how to reproduce the bug! PLEASE, REPAIR IT.

1) file ~/.local/share/applications/org.kde.kate.desktop contains blocks
in the following order and everything works as it should (Kate is
searchable in the dash and can be pinned to the dash bar):

[Desktop Entry]
...
[Desktop Action Session ...]
...

2) open Kate, new session

3) click menubar Session > Save session (choose name, save)

4) the file ~/.local/share/applications/org.kde.kate.desktop rewrites
itself (as it should) but contains blocks in a wrong order!

[Desktop Action Session ...]
...
[Desktop Action Session ...]
...

[Desktop Entry]
...

5) suddenly, kate icon moves to the bottom on the dash bar, when clicked
by the right mouse button, you can no longer pin it nor find it among
the dash applications

6) you have to manually open
~/.local/share/applications/org.kde.kate.desktop and move the [Desktop
Entry] block to the beginning of the file

Check that the GNOME settings still work correctly

* Regression potential

Review the fixes in the update the things to try should include
- replacing a keybinding
- checking that connectivy changes are correctly reflected in settings and that
informations are correctly displayed in the details screen
- opening the printer panel to verify that ink levels are still correctly
displayed
- using the privacy screen to enable or disable screen sharing

[Bug 1905741] [NEW] poppler 0.62.0-2ubuntu2.11 and 0.41.0-0ubuntu1.15 security updates break Splash output

2020-11-26 Thread Even Rouault
Public bug reported:

The security updates 0.62.0-2ubuntu2.11 and 0.41.0-0ubuntu1.15 break the
Splash output rendering, for example if using the xpdf utility that
relies on Poppler splash output, or as used by the GDAL library (the
issue was detected due to breakage in GDAL continuous integration tests)

I've traced the root cause to those security updates enabling in 'rules'
CMYK (--enable-cmyk for 0.41.0-0ubuntu1.15 and -DSPLASH_CMYK=ON for
0.62.0-2ubuntu2.11)

Building without CMYK restore poppler in a working state. It should be
noted that even on the upstream 0.41.0 version, enabling CMYK result in
a non-functional build, so it is not related to the patches applied on
top of it, but really on enabling CMYK

The issue can be verified with "xpdf test_ogc_bp.pdf" with the attached
test_ogc_bp.pdf file. With the new packages, xpdf crashes, whereas with
older ones it displays a 20x20 greyscale image.

Or with "gdal_translate test_ogc_bp.pdf out.png -of PNG" when installing
the "gdal-bin" package, that currently errors out with a message like
"ERROR 1: Bitmap decoded size (18623872x0) doesn't match raster size
(20x20)"

For the kernel it needs 5.9 or up (oem-5.10 will do), Mesa needs to be
on 20.2.x or newer (currently in groovy and in focal-proposed.

Public bug reported:

* Test case

The update is part of GNOME stable updates
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/GNOME

Check that a GNOME session still works correctly, including changing the
background image, locale and screen settings. The GNOME version in
setting should also be 3.36.8

* Regression potential

The update has some test and translations fixes and a change to the
