[Bug 1925742] Re: Recent iCloud versions trigger an issue in IMAP x

2021-05-12 Thread Sebastien Bacher
@Brian, sorry about that and thanks for reviewed, the description is
updated now.

@Denys, the situation is frustrating and the SRU team is currently
behind on reviews but ranting at the person who is helping things moving
and actually doing reviews is counterproductive since it risks just
being demotivating and result in even less reviews and more delays...

I do plan to raise the SRU team problem though and see which solutions
could be found going forward but that's a topic for another place than
this bug report

[Bug 1928184] [NEW] Impish update: v5.12.3 upstream stable release

2021-05-12 Thread Paolo Pisati
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

   v5.12.3 upstream stable release
   from git://git.kernel.org/

** Affects: linux-unstable (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Confirmed

** Affects: linux-unstable (Ubuntu Impish)

** Tags: kernel-stable-tracking-bug

** Changed in: linux-unstable (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Confirmed

** Tags added: kernel-stable-tracking-bug

[Bug 1924794] Re: Getting error "ipconfig: no devices to configure" while trying to autoinstall in a VLAN env on s390x

2021-05-12 Thread Frank Heimes
Yes, I can confirm that autoinstall of an s390x system, where the qeth
device is attached to a VLAN (in my case an LPAR system) works with the
updated initramfs that is included in the impish image with timestamp
20210511.

I've attached the entire console log.

Looks good - many thx!

[Bug 1926732] Re: Add ubuntu-oci project for building OCI-ready tarballs with livecd-rootfs

2021-05-12 Thread Thomas Bechtold
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

Currently the ubuntu-base livecd-rootfs project is used to build tarballs
that are the base for building docker/OCI images.
The tarballs produced with the ubuntu-base project are modified externally
(see https://github.com/tianon/docker-brew-ubuntu-core/blob/master/update.sh )
to create the "official" ubuntu images on dockerhub.

When including the ubuntu-oci project into livecd-rootfs, we can build
tarballs that already contain the changes that are currently done
  externally. This has multiple advantages:

  1) a Dockerfile using that tarball would no longer have to modify anything
(means less layers)
  2) publishing new OCI images no longer depends on the external dockerhub
image creation. Currently eg. the AWS ECR ubuntu containers depend on the
containers from dockerhub. That would be no longer the case with this change
  3) Possible faster reaction on CVEs. no longer depending on external
processes.

  [Test Plan]

  1) build ubuntu-oci project
  a) Build a test ubuntu-oci tarball with ubuntu-old-fashioned:

  ./scripts/ubuntu-bartender/ubuntu-bartender --no-cleanup -- --series
impish --image-format plain --project ubuntu-oci --subproject minimized

  b) create a Dockerfile using the tarball created in step 1):

  cat << EOF > Dockerfile
  FROM scratch
  ADD ubuntu-impish-oci-cloudimg-amd64-root.tar.gz /
  CMD ["/bin/bash"]
  EOF

  c) build the container

  docker build .

  d) run something in the container:

docker run -it $container-id uname -a

  e) check the size of the docker image and compare with the image for the
  same series available on dockerhub

  2) build another project (ubuntu-base minimized)
- a) Build a test ubuntu-base minimized project with ubuntu-old-fashioned
- b) Start the build
+ a) Build a test ubuntu-base minimized project with ubuntu-old-fashioned to
make sure the build does not break
+

  [Where problems could occur]

This change could break other livecd-rootfs projects which might lead to
failed builds. But beside that, there is nothing I can think of that
would be affected by this change.

  [Other Info]

When this is accepted, there will be livefs builds available at
  https://launchpad.net/~cloud-images-release-
  managers/+livefs/ubuntu/$SERIES/ubuntu-oci

[Bug 1916851] Re: module-echo-cancel fails on first run

2021-05-12 Thread Bijay Shah
Hello, I got similar issue, I am using this in default.pa

### Enable echo/noise cancellation
load-module module-echo-cancel aec_method=webrtc
aec_args="analog_gain_control=0 digital_gain_control=1"
source_name=echocancelledsource
set-default-source echocancelledsource

It works when I use pulseaudio -k in terminal, echo cancelled
sink/sources are shown and the echo cancelled source is default. This
also retains on log off and re login but after a restart it does not
apply at all.

For now my solution is to add a entry to gnome startup application
preferences as "pulseaudio echo cancel" and use this in command
"pulseaudio -k".

I tried using "sleep 5/10/30 && pulseaudio -k" as command but no matter
what sleep seconds it didn't load module at all, only using the command
without sleep works.

This method also retains volume/state of echo cancelled sources so it's
fine for now hope it gets fixed soon officially.

[Bug 1925742] Re: Recent iCloud versions trigger an issue in IMAP x

2021-05-12 Thread Denys Rtveliashvili
Brian, seriously?

"Evolution" is broken in your "stable" release for almost a month and you are
requesting some meaningless paperwork? People CAN NOT READ THEIR EMAIL for
God's sake. Everyone using Apple's email is affected.

Is this really the approach in Ubuntu these days?

When a house is on fire, do firefighters ask people to
(a) explain the effect of fire on the people in the house;
(b) justify why the fire should be put out;
(c) explain how to notice the raging inferno;
(d) how to spot that the fire is gone when it is put out;
(e) describe what else can happen when the fire it put out (lots actually - a
cat can deliver a litter of kittens, for example)?

But, is there a way to integrate this in the script to enable backlight
when activating the numpad and switch it off when deactivating ? I can
understand that this is difficult to do it universally because it seems
that we have different bus numbers for the light, but can I integrate
this in the script, and if yes, where in the script ?

Anyway, many thanks for this super job.

Fred

#1 The 21.04 environment fully works
  #2 The 20.04 environment fails
  #3 The qemu-of-21.04 in 20.04 environment fails

I'm not sure, but this makes me think of the kernel maybe being related.
Well this isn't system-virtualization, it is an emulation so the
chances are much lower than usual, but might be worth a try.

In #3 which kernel did you use and is there a chance you could
try the one of 21.04 for a test? Then we'd have
  #4 qemu-and-kernel-of-21.04 in 20.04 environment TBD

Another - more cumbersome, but helpful - test could be
- start in a 20.04 virtual machine
- test should fail
- upgrade components to 21.04 one by one
- iterate the test
- once it works, downgrade the component again
=> Can you this way find a single piece that gets us in/out of the bad case?

[Bug 1928201] [NEW] [Envaya Mini, playback] Playback problem

2021-05-12 Thread Carl Andreas Myrland
Public bug reported:

After using the bluetooth device (Denon Envaya Mini) for video calls
(Teams, Google Meet), it gets stuck on "Headset Head Unit (HSP/HFP)"
config. Switching the configuration back to A2DP does nothing,
restarting the app (Spotify, Poddr) etc does nothing.

This worked just fine in 20.04 LTS.

Please try that. The windows is still created as toplevel but it has
disabled decorations. We can't create it as popup as it does not have a
parent window. Bug 1703073 will have huge popup redesign and we should
apply correct popup roles when it's fixed.

[Bug 1925742] Re: Recent iCloud versions trigger an issue in IMAP x

2021-05-12 Thread Sebastien Bacher
** Description changed:

- There is a recently introduced bug in evolution-data-server which broke
- access to email in iCloud.
+ * Impact
+
+ The Icloud service introduced changes that are confusing evolution-data-
+ server which means evolution is now failing to connect to the email
+ server
+
+ * Test case
+
+ Set up an iCloud account and try to use it for emails in evolution
+
+ * Regression potential
+
+ The change is in the imapx connection code, it could create problems

+
+ -
+

The bug has been fixed yesterday by Evolution's developer:

[Bug 1925386] Re: Upgrade from 460.32.03-0ubuntu2 to 460.73.01-0ubuntu1 fails

2021-05-12 Thread fluffy
Hi, I've enabled focal-proposed and I'm still having the problem, on a
fresh install of kubuntu 20.04. Something I didn't notice in the above
bug report is the contents of the failed build logfile, which indicates
there's a compiler version issue and not a kernel source version

[Bug 1918142] Re: Headphone microphone doesn't work - ALC255

2021-05-12 Thread Bijay Shah
Hello, I have Acer Aspire A515-56-57XR with alc255 and have similar
issue, managed to solve it for now with at a cost of losing
functionality of internal microphone.

My issue was the headphones/micophone always appeared plugged in and
even after actually plugging it in had to manually switch it, also the
earphone microphone didn't work at all.

After months someone sent me a fix on acer community forums. I will send
that fix here and hope it works for you. This fix will cause internal
digital microphone to stop showing completely.

Add these to end of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
# Headset mic fix
options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0
options snd-hda-intel model=alc255-acer

After, reboot when you plug in the earphone/headphone a pop up will show
choose anything, now your external microphone should start working.
Also, when you unplug earphone/headphone it should automatically switch
to internal and hide external ones as well. The pop up will show up
every time you plug in to fix this use gnome extension called Remove
Audio Device Selection Dialog.

[Bug 1928188] [NEW] Build libclc from llvm

2021-05-12 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Public bug reported:

[Impact]

libclc source was merged to llvm upstream last year, and development
happens there now. A future mesa release will require libclc from llvm-
toolchain, but in order to migrate things one at a time, let's build
libclc with "old" features first.

[Test case]

Build mesa with libclc-12 from llvm-toolchain-12.

[Where problems could occur]

Packaging might conflict with src:libclc, but that's already tested to
be fine. There is also an autopkgtest to catch possible regressions with
libclc-12.

[Bug 1928161] Re: Wacom Tablet Map Buttons blank on Wayland

2021-05-12 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Please also ensure that you include the release and flavour of Ubuntu
that you are using.

Thank you!

[Bug 1928202] [NEW] Please remove1.1.4.0+dfsg-1 from impish

2021-05-12 Thread Balint Reczey
Public bug reported:

Autopkgtests started failing in the release pocket:

https://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/r/r-cran-treespace/impish/s390x

The fix is in the new upstream release:
https://github.com/thibautjombart/treespace/commit/3abe05e9beb26149b0fda2f8e75e4aeab6cda9f2

rbalint@yogi:~$ reverse-depends r-cran-treespace
No reverse dependencies found
rbalint@yogi:~$ reverse-depends -b r-cran-treespace
No reverse dependencies found

The failing autopkgtest holds back glibc from migration.

[Bug 1928208] [NEW] Notification messages block the screen

2021-05-12 Thread Nav
Public bug reported:

This is in Ubuntu 20.10 Groovy Gorilla.
There are many notification messages (as shown in the attachment) that pop up
and interfere by blocking the view and hindering the ability of the user to
proceed normally. I can only assume this is a bug where the positioning of the
message went wrong.
As shown in the attachment, the yellow arrow points to the message popup.
The green arrow shows that the time could be displayed more to the right.
The red arrow shows where such notification messages could be displayed so that
they don't interfere.
Other such messages are when opening a folder, a popup says "Files. Home is
ready".
Or if an application opens in the background "Software updater is ready".
Please reposition these messages higher.

[Bug 1867092] Re: Failed to set MokListRT: Invalid Parameter

2021-05-12 Thread Nav
@Steve: Ok, the /sys/firmware/efi folder exists, so I guess there might
be EFI support somewhere, but I'm quite confident the BIOS options have
nothing regarding MokManager or UEFI. After creating a bootable USB
(Groovy Gorilla), it wouldn't boot. I don't remember the error message,
but there was some solution on the internet which I followed to (I
think), convert the USB filesystem to GPT or something, and only then it
worked. Toward the end of the Ubuntu installation, I encountered this
error: "Executing grub-install /dev/sda failed. This is a fatal error"
(Image attached).

[Bug 1928208] Re: Notification messages block the screen

2021-05-12 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1928208/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

focal verification successful.

I changed the testing plan given that using the package from proposed
with ubuntu-old-fashioned is not that easy.

I did now use launchpad itself to build (see

- focal ubuntu-oci build:

Testing the docker container tarball:

$ cat << EOF > Dockerfile

ADD focal-minimal-cloudimg-amd64-root.tar.gz /
CMD ["/bin/bash"]
EOF

$ docker build .

[Bug 1928113] Re: Please enable firewalld support in libvirtd

2021-05-12 Thread Christian Ehrhardt 
Hi Thiago,
the problem is that firewalld isn't in main and thereby not fully supported
which means that libvirt (that is in main) can not depend on it - see [1] for
some details.

Ubuntu's choice for this usually us UFW, but there is no UFW backend for
libvirt.

Being on iptables wasn't so much of a discontinuation problem as
iptables nowadays is provided by nftables/ebtables. But firewalld itself
no more wants iptables that is true.

So the issue here is that today Ubuntus libvirt can't work with firewalld
installed.
To be able to work we'd need to promote firewalld wich might be unwanted for
many other reasons.
There might be a way in between if I can manage to get firewalld support
built-in in a way that has no runtime dependency to firewalld from any of the
packages in main.
But I can't promise this will work out.

I'll give it a try when I merge the next libvirt version and if it fails
we need to reconsider getting firewalld promoted to main. If the latter
also would be refused we'd at least want to make it fail more gracefully
which might be tricky - e.g. a conflicts between libvirtd<->firewalld
won't help you at all and you could have valid use cases for both just
not everything would work.

Hmm, it feels there is too much uncertainty - I hope I can manage to
build it in a non-dependent way because all other options sound lengthy.

[Bug 1928213] [NEW] Open with other application not working for multi file select and not showing cascading menu for single file select

2021-05-12 Thread Nav
Public bug reported:

This is in Ubuntu 20.10 Groovy Gorilla.

Problem 1:
As shown in the attached image, on selecting multiple files and right clicking
to "Open with other application", the option for opening the files is not
enabled.

Problem 2:
When right clicking a single file, the "Open with other application" is
visible, but does not show a cascading dropdown menu like it used to in Ubuntu
16.04. The cascading menu would help avoid some unnecessary extra clicks.

I can confirm that task creation via Evolution triggers the issue.
After following your instructions and relaunching the indicator-datetime

[Bug 1928215] [NEW] Firefox UI crashes after mpv bypasses kwin(?) compositor

2021-05-12 Thread John Uren
Public bug reported:

Firefox's UI crashes when I play a fullscreen video on mpv. I've tracked
it down so far to the kubuntu compositor option (kwin?).

I would expect to be able to use Firefox after playing a fullscreen
video with mpv. What happens is that after playing the video and exiting
mpv, firefox's UI freezes. The most obvious effect is that I can't open
new tabs in firefox.

Steps to recreate bug in Kubuntu 21.04:

1) Enable the "Allow applications to block compositing". I'm not sure if this
is in by default.
2) Open firefox
3) Start a video in mpv.
4) Enable fullscreen in media player.
5) Stop the video
6) Leave fullscreen playback
7) (Try to) Open a new tab in firefox. The GUI doesn't show the new tab and
looks like it crashes.

If you close Firefox at this point, you still get the pop-up about
closing multiple tabs.

I've been able to work out that disabling the "Allow applications to
block compositing" option "fixes" this at the cost of choppier video
playback with 50fps videos.

VLC and Dragon Player doesn't trigger the crash.

[Bug 1928206] [NEW] File rename selection and single click do not work uniformly across the Files application

2021-05-12 Thread Nav
Public bug reported:

This is on Ubuntu 20.10 Groovy Gorilla.
Problem1:
If I open Files (the Nautilus equivalent) and select a file and press F2 or
right click and select "rename", I'm given the option of renaming the file. If
the filename is someFile.txt, the "someFile" portion is highlighted
automatically, so when I start renaming it, the ".txt" portion remains
unaffected. This is the normal and expected behaviour.
However, when I do the same thing directly on the Desktop for any file on the
Desktop, the entire "someName.txt" gets highlighted, and the full name isn't
even shown at first glance.
The attachments show details.

Problem2:
In Files preferences > Behaviour > Open Action, if I select "Single click to
open items", it works fine everywhere except for files on the Desktop, where I
have to double click a file to open it.

So the bug here is that there seems to be some inconsistency in the behaviour
of files on the Desktop vs. the files that are opened in the Files window.
If any of the Desktop files are opened in Files, it works fine. The problem
happens only when performing these actions directly on files that are on the
Desktop.

[Bug 1927745] Re: Non-thread-safe functions used in multi-threaded rpc.gssd

2021-05-12 Thread Robie Basak
Hello Andreas, or anyone else affected,

Accepted nfs-utils into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nfs-
utils/1:1.3.4-2.1ubuntu5.4 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-bionic. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

@ii umU Ib > FU=0
Removing libopencv-shape-dev:amd64 rather than change libopencv-shape4.2:amd64
  MarkDelete libopencv-shape-dev:amd64 < 3.2.0+dfsg-4ubuntu0.1 | 4.2.0+dfsg-5
@ii umH Ib > FU=0
