Re: [Bug 1902224] Re: custom-time-format set in dconf-editor ignored

2021-08-02 Thread Daniel Newman
Yes.

Same problem with Ubuntu 21.04 and ayatana-indicator-datetime
0.8.1-2ubuntu1

I've tried a string equivalent to the ISO 8601 format, using:
'%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M'

dconf-editor shows this as the current value, but there is no resulting
change in the display.

[Bug 1937277] Re: [SRU] OpenSBI 0.9 backport to Focal

2021-08-02 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Heinrich, or anyone else affected,

Accepted u-boot into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/u-boot/2021.01+dfsg-3ubuntu0~20.04.3
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1938719] Re: (feature request) support for non-stdio plugins (like Hydroxide)

2021-08-02 Thread Matthias Andree
Bill,

judging from the hydroxide webpage, all you need to do is make sure that
hydroxide is running properly and then you can tell fetchmail to use
that port 1143 to fetch through.

You may need to use the "via" keyword in a fetchmail configuration file
(it is not available through the command line interface) to connect to
the server.

I do not see a reason to duplicate daemon control features into
fetchmail for which more than half a dozen solutions exist already.

[Bug 1938728] [NEW] FTBFS due to unrecognized llvm version number

2021-08-02 Thread Bryce Harrington
Public bug reported:

https://launchpadlibrarian.net/550938145/buildlog_ubuntu-impish-
amd64.emscripten_2.0.12~dfsg-2ubuntu1_BUILDING.txt.gz

The build-time testsuite fails with numerous warnings and errors such
as:

AssertionError: 'emcc: warning: LLVM version appears incorrect (seeing
"12.0", expected "11.0") [-Wversion-check]\n' is not false

The package's control file has:

 llvm (>= 1:11.0) ,

$ apt-cache policy llvm
llvm:
  Installed: 1:12.0-52~exp2
  Candidate: 1:12.0-52~exp2

Newer versions have been packaged for Debian experimental, which is currently
up to 2.0.25~dfsg-7, but an earlier version might be sufficient.
2.0.13~dfsg-1~rc1 builds locally for me, where 2.0.12 has the patch failure.

[Bug 1938727] [NEW] wacom cintiq pen input stops randomly when using painting application

2021-08-02 Thread William T.
Public bug reported:

This started happening within the last few days. To reproduce, open
Krita or Gimp and paint for a random amount of time. Eventually pen
input will stop. Seems to be random but so far happens between 0 - 10
minutes of using the pen on the display.

I can get pen input to work again by power cycling my cintiq monitor.
But eventually pen input will stop working again after power cycling the
monitor.

I did a fresh install of Kubuntu 20.04 to see if this would clear up,
unfortunately a fresh install doesn't seem to fix the problem.

I am not entirely sure where to start troubleshooting this. It doesn't
seem to be a problem with the application I am using, since both Gimp
and Krita are affected by this. After the bug occurs, lsusb shows that
the device is still connected. I will attach system and xorg log files
in case these can help identify the problem. Please let me know how to
get additional troubleshooting information if needed.

argument given to pbr.version.VersionInfo. Project name python-
magnumclient was given, but was not able to be found.

  [Regression Potential]
- As the fix is removing py2 support a visual inspection of build files created
will be done to ensure the same files are included in the new build as the last
known good build.
+ Changes are required to debian/control and debian/rules to drop py2 support.
To help mitigate any regression potential, I've visual inspected builds to
compare files included in .deb files. The files match up exactly between the
last known-good build (
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/472650057/buildlog_ubuntu-focal-amd64.python-magnumclient_2.11.0-0ubuntu4_BUILDING.txt.gz
) and the new package version that I'm uploading right now.

[Bug 1938477] Re: Screen brightness changing randomly

2021-08-02 Thread Felipe Butcher
The above command didn't make any difference. My computer doesn't even
have a light sensor.

I have tried this before but I just tried again to make sure. I will
have to keep holding the kernel version for now.

Thanks.

[Bug 1938713] [NEW] Focal update: v5.4.133 upstream stable release

2021-08-02 Thread Kamal Mostafa
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to

a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream

[Bug 1938717] [NEW] autopkgtest failures on armhf and s390x

2021-08-02 Thread Brian Murray
Public bug reported:

golang-github-lucas-clemente-quic-go version 0.19.3-1 is failing its
autopkgtests on both armhf and s390x.

Part of the failure log follows:

--- FAIL: TestQuicGo (10.38s)
FAIL
FAILgithub.com/lucas-clemente/quic-go 10.385s

It's worth noting that armhf passes in Debian though:

https://ci.debian.net/packages/g/golang-github-lucas-clemente-quic-go/

However, the failures in the test seem different on armhf and s390x. For
armhf we have:

Expected
: 2021-04-27T22:26:57.923819734Z
to be ~
: 2021-04-27T22:26:57.955283999Z

While for s390x the failure (in Debian and Ubuntu) is:

Expected
: 0
to equal
: 1

[Bug 1808418] Re: Thinkpad T430u won't boot without noapic workaround

2021-08-02 Thread bmaupin
I just installed a few kernels to see if I could narrow down the latest
regression, and this is what I found:

- 5.7.0-050700 boots fine
- 5.7.5-050705 exhibits the problematic behaviour (does not boot)
- The latest kernel (5.13.7-051307) also does not boot

I doubt this is helpful, but these are the last log lines shown on 5.7.0
on a successful boot right before the GUI kicks in; I'm not sure if
they're meaningful since they're just a few lines from the log as a
whole:

[5.999124] ACPI: \_SB_.PCI0.LPCB.EC__.HKEY: BCTG evaluated but flagged as
error
[5.999126] thinkpad_acpi: Error probing battery 2
[5.999135] battery: extension failed to load: ThinkPad Battery Extension
[8.097361] Bluetooth: hci0: command 0x1001 tx timeout

I guess at this point I need to do another bisect between 5.7.0 and
5.7.5. Here goes...

[Bug 1938719] [NEW] (feature request) support for non-stdio plugins (like Hydroxide)

2021-08-02 Thread Bill Yikes
Public bug reported:

Protonmail-Hydroxide users are inconvenienced with having to manually
execute this command prior to running fetchmail:

$ torsocks hydroxide imap

The fetchmailrc stanza looks like this:

skip protonmail-hydroxide via 127.0.0.1
protocol imap
port 1143
username "billyikes"
sslproto ''
fetchall

The workflow above functions, but it's a nuissance to have to execute a
daemon manually before running fetchmail. In principle, it would be
ideal to add: 'plugin "torsocks hydroxide imap"', but the problem is
that fetchmail has the limitation of having to interact with plugins
through standard I/O, which is unsupported by hydroxide.

I suggest adding the following options:

stdio
plugin_is_a_daemon
kill_plugin

If the stdio boolean is true, then the plugin mechanism works the way it
always has. If the boolean is false, then fetchmail connects to the IP
and port given in the stanza.

If plugin_is_a_daemon is true, then fetchmail should check whether the
process is already running and if not fetchmail should launch it and
disown it before fetching the mail.

If kill_plugin is true, fetchmail should kill the plugin after each
fetch.

Perhaps those 3 options could be consolidated into fewer options but I'm
merely brainstorming the degree of control that would be useful to
users.

*Alternatively*

Perhaps there is a hack that avoids a fetchmail code change. For
example, would it work to layer in socat alongside hydroxide? Such as:

plugin "torsocks hydroxide imap & socat STDIO TCP:127.0.0.1:%h:%p"

I'm not real proficient with socat (it's very complex), but if there is
a way to launch hydroxide and combine socat as middleware to keep
fetchmail code simple, then this feature request could boil down to
simply adding an example of a hydroxide configuration to the man page.

FYI, Hydroxide lives here: https://github.com/emersion/hydroxide

BTW, I know the upstream tracker is normally the appropriate place for
feature requests, but gitlab.com is inaccessible to myself and probably
many others (largely people using Tor or whose ISP uses CGNAT). So I've
posted it here just to get it on record, in hopes that an upstream
developer sees it.

- sslproto ''
- fetchall
+ protocol imap
+ port 1143
+ username "billyikes"
+ sslproto ''
+ fetchall

The workflow above functions, but it's a nuissance to have to execute a
daemon manually before running fetchmail. In principle, it would be
ideal to add: 'plugin "torsocks hydroxide imap"', but the problem is
- that fetchmail has the limitation of having to use standard I/O, which
- is unsupported by hydroxide.
+ that fetchmail has the limitation of having to interact with plugins
+ through standard I/O, which is unsupported by hydroxide.

** Description changed:

Protonmail-Hydroxide users are inconvenienced with having to manually
execute this command prior to running fetchmail:

  $ torsocks hydroxide imap

The fetchmailrc stanza looks like this:

  skip protonmail-hydroxide via 127.0.0.1
  protocol imap
  port 1143
  username "billyikes"
  sslproto ''
  fetchall

2021-08-02 Thread Lucas Kanashiro
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

From the logs we can see:

mysqld is running as pid 16349
Error: Unable to shut down server with process id 16349

Do you have by any chance another mysqld process running not managed by
the Debian package provided by Ubuntu? I am asking that because I
searched for PID 16349 in the mysqld error log and this PID is not
referenced there. If you have a mysqld process already running, please
kill it before installing the package.

Since there is not enough information in your report to begin triage or to
differentiate between a local configuration problem and a bug in Ubuntu, I
am marking this bug as "Incomplete". We would be grateful if you would:
provide a more complete description of the problem, explain why you
believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your
system, and then change the bug status back to "New".

2021-08-02 Thread Lucas Kanashiro
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

The mysql-server postinst script is failing because of this:

/var/lib/dpkg/info/mysql-server-8.0.postinst: line 191:
/usr/share/mysql-common/configure-symlinks: No such file or directory

The /usr/share/mysql-common/configure-symlinks file is provided by
mysql-common. Checking the list of package you have I found this:

mysql-client-8.0 8.0.26-0ubuntu0.20.04.2
mysql-client-core-8.0 8.0.26-0ubuntu0.20.04.2
mysql-common 8.0.15-1ubuntu16.04 [origin: unknown]
mysql-server-core-8.0 8.0.26-0ubuntu0.20.04.2

Your mysql-common package was not installed from the Ubuntu archive. In
a system running Ubuntu Focal you need the following:

$ dpkg -l | grep mysql
ii mysql-client-8.0 8.0.26-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 amd64 MySQL database client binaries
ii mysql-client-core-8.0 8.0.26-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 amd64 MySQL database core
client binaries
ii mysql-common 5.8+1.0.5ubuntu2 all MySQL database common files, e.g.
/etc/mysql/my.cnf
ii mysql-server 8.0.26-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 all MySQL database server (metapackage
depending on the latest version)
ii mysql-server-8.0 8.0.26-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 amd64 MySQL database server
binaries and system database setup
ii mysql-server-core-8.0 8.0.26-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 amd64 MySQL database server
binaries

Note that you'll need to remove your mysql-common package manually
because its version is greater than the version in the Ubuntu archive
and apt will not override it. With the correct version of mysql-common
you should be able to install mysql-server.

Since it seems likely to me that this is a local configuration problem,
rather than a bug in Ubuntu, I am marking this bug as 'Incomplete'.

However, if you believe that this is really a bug in Ubuntu, then we would
be grateful if you would provide a more complete description of the problem
with steps to reproduce, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu
rather than a problem specific to your system, and then change the bug
status back to "New".

[Bug 1936930] Re: [SRU] libreoffice 7.1.5 for hirsute

2021-08-02 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Rico, or anyone else affected,

Accepted libreoffice into hirsute-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/1:7.1.5-0ubuntu0.21.04.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
hirsute to verification-done-hirsute. If it does not fix the bug for
you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed-hirsute. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

** Description changed:

- I just installed gnome-maps-3.36.1, but when I use "gnome-maps" on the
command line I get the
+ [Impact]
+
+ * GNOME Maps on focal no longer starts.
+
+ * From the upstream report this is because the GNOME Maps
+data provider no longer provides the satellite data
+that the app required.
+
+https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-
+ maps/-/commit/22e32384f5d3623d8fdc8c330a0adcda3047cd7a
+
+Upstream bug report https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-

+
+ * GNOME Maps is a component of Ubuntu Budgie packageset. It's a
+ universe package
+
+ [Test Plan]
+

+
+ * Next enable the proposed repository via Update Manager - Settings
+
+ * Via a terminal install the application
+
+gnome-maps
+
+ * disable the proposed repository again via Update Manager - Settings.
+ This is important so that you dont install any other test packages
+
+ * Run gnome-maps via your chosen Desktop Environment - e.g. in Budgie -
+ Menu - Maps
+
+ * The application will open displaying a map
+
+
+ [Where problems could occur]
+
+ * Confusion on behalf of the user because they may be used to seeing
+the Satellite View.
+
+The patched gnome-maps disables Satellite View.
+
+Note - in 21.04 and 21.10 versions of GNOME Maps, Satellite View is
+ also not available. So this is not a regression, but for Focal users
+ its an obvious visual change.
+
+ * This fix applies the upstream commit that states that it resolves
+ this matter. No other commits are mentioned on the upstream bug report.
+
+ * I suppose the risk is that an additional commit may have been made
+ upstream that upstream silently applied but did not show up in the patch
+ report.
+
+ * As such, the user testing this should be fairly familiar with gnome
+ maps previously to confirm no additional regressions for the now working
+ application i.e. previously the app did not run.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ * Please note - on the upstream bug report, the maintainers state that the
accepted fixed version of the 3.36 series is 3.36.7.
+
+ * Focal is on 3.36.1. From a SRU point of view I would prefer if Focal
+ was to move to the upstream maintainers recommended micro version
+ release.
+
+ * However, I don't see any test suite in the application source code.
+ I'm not sure therefore that Ubuntu's SRU process would accept such a
+ microrelease without an OK from either a technical board member?
+
+ * If such an exception is OK'd I'm happy to run through an uplift -
+ possibly via a separate raised bug report - please advise.

[Bug 1938730] [NEW] GPSD time will jump back 1024 weeks at after week=2180 (23-October-2021)

Public bug reported:

Hello, some of our releases may need a gpsd update in order to give
correct results after October 2021:

https://gitlab.com/gpsd/gpsd/-/issues/144

AFAIK there's not yet a clear solution for this issue, it's just
something to keep an eye on for the moment.

[Bug 1931779] Re: kdump just hung out of the box

2021-08-02 Thread Guilherme G. Piccoli
Thank you for the report! I think the problem was memory then, you
nailed it - by reserving more memory, you were able to make it work.
This is a policy and currently, the default is a bit conservative in
order to not waste memory. It works in most of the systems...

We have a memory estimator project [0] that (hopefully) will help users to
determine the proper amount of reserved memory for their systems. For now, I
guess we can consider this bug fixed (by the reporter!).
Cheers,

Guilherme

[Bug 1714211] Re: Problem with panels when using multiple monitors

2021-08-02 Thread Makói Krisztián
Yes, the issue is still there.
How to reproduce it:
You need to start adding panels to your laptop screen. After all four sides are
filled, the next panel will be added to the external monitor. Then you just
remove the unnecessary panels from the primary (laptop) monitor, leaving you
with what you need on the primary and secondary display.
After you remove the secondary display (external monitor), the panels from
there will be added to the primary (laptop) screen. After reconnecting the
external monitor, at least now they are put back to it again, so they don't
remain on the primary (laptop) monitor, but transferred back to the secondary
(external) display.

[Bug 1938727] Re: wacom cintiq pen input stops randomly when using painting application

2021-08-02 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1938727/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

2021-08-02 Thread Heitor Alves de Siqueira
Validated with ZFS from focal-proposed, according to test case from description:

In addition to the test above, I've also tested the configurations
suggested in the [Test Plan] section. Besides validating the ordering
bug, I've also done basic smoke tests and verified that the ZFS pools
are working as expected.

[Bug 1938723] [NEW] Impish update: v5.13.7 upstream stable release

2021-08-02 Thread Kamal Mostafa
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

[Bug 1938722] [NEW] watchdog: BUG: soft lockup on Threadripper 2950X

2021-08-02 Thread John Stultz
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
Release:20.04

Been suddenly seeing a number of crashes today on my threadripper 2950x
box today after the system being off over the weekend.

Suspect it may be tied to Ubuntu 5.4.0-80.90-generic 5.4.124 kernel, as
I wasn't seeing it last week or previously.

Alas, no such luck for my combo with "JBL CLUB300BT". It doesn't even mention
the HFP profile.

Thanks for the effort though, guess I'll wait for Pulseaudio V15 to get
to Ubuntu.

Cheers,

[Bug 1934780] Re: shim crashes on Mellanox BF1 SmartNIC

2021-08-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package shim-signed - 1.40.6

---
shim-signed (1.40.6) focal; urgency=medium

  * Update to shim 15.4-0ubuntu7:
- Fix load option parsing, and thus fwupd execution (LP: #1929471) (PR #379)

shim-signed (1.40.5) focal; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release 15.4.  LP: #1921134
  * Synchronize packaging with 1.48, summary
- Update packaging to pull fb and mm from shim-signed package as in

- Include reworked Makefile from devel to better assert the integrity of
  the executables.

is causing systems to run out of EFI storage space, or just hang up
when trying to write it (LP: #1924605) (LP: #1928434)
- Further relax the check for variable mirroring on non-secureboot systems
avoiding boot failures on out of space conditons (pull request #372)
- Don't unhook ExitBootServices() when EBS protection is disabled
  (LP: #1931136) (pull request #378)
