[Bug 214863] Re: various bugs and trust issues
Hi, we are cleaning various old bugs. When checking this one I found that this was replaced by monitoring plugins in bug 1564858. Also it isn't in main anymore (demoted after xenial). The errors are not fixed, so this is sadly after all the time still valid, but to drive this one would need to outline that in detail to upstream. [Bug 1944436] Re: Please backport support for "close_range" syscall
It's not going to be simple I'm afraid, at least for the original problem! "scmp_sys_resolver close_range" will quickly test whether current seccomp has support for close_range (prints "-1" if not supported, "436" otherwise - at least on x86_64.) Ubuntu seccomp maintainers have been pretty happy SRUing this sort of thing before - it's a running problem, and the changes are trivial. Outline of a reproducer for my original problem would be something like: 1. download and unpack https://partner-images.canonical.com/core/focal/current/ubuntu-focal-core-cloudimg-amd64-root.tar.gz 2. cd to the rootfs directory and start a container with "systemd-nspawn" 3. Add podman/buildah PPA: . /etc/os-release echo "deb https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/kubic:/libcontainers:/stable/xUbuntu_${VERSION_ID}/ /" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/devel:kubic:libcontainers:stable.list curl -L "https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/kubic:/libcontainers:/stable/xUbuntu_${VERSION_ID}/Release.key; | sudo apt-key add - sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade 4. apt-get -y install buildah 5. create scratch container and copy in busybox ctr=$(buildah from scratch) buildah copy $ctr /bin/busybox 6. check EOF handling echo foo | buildah run $ctr /busybox cat Without the patch, this should fail to return to the prompt, as the missing syscall seems to interfere with buildah's ability to to process EOF; with the patch it should return to the prompt. In the event of failure there should also be messages logged about "close_range" being unsupported. Above is untested - I'll double-check it and flesh it out when time/health permits, but hopefully it has some utility. [Bug 1932485] Re: [MIR] libportal
I've updated the description to remove the ABI stability question now that it has been resolved, upstream said they would bump the soname as needed, which means the request should be ready for review now ** Description changed: * Availability Built for all supported architectures. In sync with Debian. https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libportal/0.3+git20200327-1 * Rationale It's a new optional depends of nautilus which uses it to access the xdg portal to set the background in a desktop neutral way. The binary needed in main is the library, libportal0. * Security No known security issues https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/source-package/libportal https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libportal/+cve https://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvekey.cgi?keyword=libportal * Quality assurance - The desktop-packages team is going to be subscribed - No downstream open reports and upstream list seems in shape https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libportal https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?src=libportal https://github.com/flatpak/libportal/issues - Note that there is a question on whether the API is stable at this point - that made Debian keep the package in experimental only. While it would - be nice to see resolved there is a .symbols so we could decide to block - problematic updates. - There is current no build time tests but xdg-desktop-portal autopkgtests are covering libportal so should help us to catch potential regressions. The package provides a trivial build and start autopkgtest. * Dependencies The dependencies are in main Depends: libc6 (>= 2.4), libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.58) * Standards compliance Use current Standards-Version and dh12 * Maintenance The Debian maintainer is active, the package is in sync, the Desktop Team is going to maintain it in Ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1932485 Title: [MIR] libportal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libportal/+bug/1932485/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1930629] Re: Raspberry pi 4 USB controller randomly crashes
Finished verifying that it at least hasn't broken anything in the hirsute release; tested USB boot and operation on a Pi 4B rev 1.1, rev 1.4, two board variants of the 400, and a 3B+ with two different SSDs and four different SATA-USB interfaces (two ASMedia, one JMicron, and one Sabrent - the latter turned out to be iffy under all kernels, so no regression there!). Given the length of time over which this bug tends to reproduce (sometimes as long as a couple of days), I can't say for certain it's fixed in all cases but the system on which it reliably reproduced before (an 8GB Pi 4 with an ASMedia interface between a Samsung SSD) has been running without interruption all week, and none of the other configurations displayed any issues so I'd be reasonably confident in saying there's no regressions at least. I'll move onto Focal tests next... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1930629 Title: Raspberry pi 4 USB controller randomly crashes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi/+bug/1930629/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1944550] [NEW] impish/linux-gcp: CONFIG_BPF_UNPRIV_DEFAULT_OFF must be set to y
Public bug reported: This option will disable uprivileged BPF by default. It can be reenabled, though, as it uses the new value 2 for the kernel.unprivileged_bpf_disabled sysctl. That value disables it, but allows the sysctl knob to be set back to 0. This allows sysadmins to enable unprivileged BPF back by using sysctl config files. All the other impish kernels have this option enabled, but linux-gcp still has this disabled. Make sure to re-align with the other impish kernels. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Fix Committed ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu Impish) Importance: Undecided Status: Fix Committed ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Impish) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Impish) Status: New => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1944550 Title: impish/linux-gcp: CONFIG_BPF_UNPRIV_DEFAULT_OFF must be set to y To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1944550/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1943564] Re: [SRU] Backport xrt 202020.2.8.743-0ubuntu1 to focal
Please can you explain why you're backporting rather than cherry-picking specific fixes here? If the diff is otherwise equivalent, why aren't you still intending to individually verify the specific fixes you need, as would be normal SRU process? If you don't intend to verify each fix individually, then please explain how the package complies with the requirements listed at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#New_upstream_microreleases > Additionally, the packages for amd64 are not really tested and won't be, so it is preferable to remove from the build. This is not sufficient justification to remove a build from a stable Ubuntu release. Many packages in Ubuntu aren't specifically tested, and we don't routinely remove those. > The package will disappear from amd64 arch, but anyway it was not really working and it is preferable to remove it rather than leaving people with a not working binary around. Is it not working at all, or not "really" working but still effective for some user? [Bug 1944525] [NEW] Info panel: white text on white background on text files preview while using a dark theme makes previews useless
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS Release:20.04 dolphin: Installed: 4:19.12.3-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 4:19.12.3-0ubuntu1 You know that dark themes display normal text as white on a dark background. Dolphin information panel display text file previews always with white background: when normal text is white, it shows previews as WHITE on WHITE,as you can see on the screen shot. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Apply a dark theme in System-Settings->Appearance->Colors (i.e. Breeze Dark) 2. Open the Information Panel for a text file of size > 0 OBSERVED RESULT A complete white page is shown instead of showing the content of the text file, you cannot read any text (see the screenshot). EXPECTED RESULT Text should be rendered with a different color than background OR a different background should be used other than white. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KUbuntu 20.04/Kde Plasma 5.18.5 KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0 Qt Version: 5.12.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 1) You can personalize text color by modifying "view text" property (System-settings->Appearance->Colors). It works as a workaround. However this change standard text color for all the KDE environment and not just the information panel view for text files! 2) Text in bash scripts or text files with other extensions (.inc) display correctly even when using dark themes! Only .txt files show this problem. UPSTREAM Current release 19.12.3 is quite old and newer releases already patched this bug. Could it be possible to merge upstream patch? [Bug 1943853] Re: Ubuntu update disconnected all snaps
To summarize, there are two issues: 1. snaps were not mounted on restart for some reason 2. this lead to loosing all auto-connected interfaces on snapd start (because snap.yaml files couldn't be read from disk) The cause of problem #1 is unknown and we had a couple of reports about this in the past. Snaps are automatically mounted by systemd mount units on boot, so why this didn't work is unclear. For problem #2 I've proposed a fix here: https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/pull/10814 and with it connections should be preserved on such failures. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1943853 Title: Ubuntu update disconnected all snaps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1943853/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1944508] [NEW] [P10] CAS : last kernel not auto booted
Public bug reported: == Comment: #0 - Frederic Bonnard - 2021-04-26 02:32:28 == Hi, testing Debian/Ubuntu installation with OpenQA on a P10 LPAR with a virtual optical device, the LPAR boots the iso till grub menu. First entry is selected and Enter gets pressed. The kernel starts and calls ibm,client-architecture-support . My understanding is that either it returns or reboots with the new feature set and in which case, the grub menu shouldn't pop out again and the last booted kernel should be used with the same parameters. But it is not the case at the moment, the iso grub menu pops out again. This does not happen all the time. Sometimes the kernel does not reboot and (maybe the required settings are ok but in this case, I don't know how it got set). Here is a video showing this behavior on Debian (kernel 5.10.0-6, grub 2.04, http://d-i.debian.org/daily-images/ppc64el/daily/netboot/mini.iso). Same on Ubuntu 20.04 daily (kernel 5.4.0-72.80, grub 2.04, http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-server/focal/daily-live/current/focal-live-server-ppc64el.iso) Regards, F. == Comment: #1 - Frederic Bonnard - 2021-04-26 02:33:14 == == Comment: #2 - Frederic Bonnard - 2021-04-26 02:33:48 == == Comment: #3 - Diego Pereira Domingos - 2021-04-29 10:52:18 == Hi Fr?deric, we will need to push the required patches for CAS reboot into UBUNTU/DEBIAN. == Comment: #8 - Diego Pereira Domingos - 2021-08-09 08:54:07 == == Comment: #10 - Diego Pereira Domingos - 2021-08-10 08:13:10 == Hello Canonical, we need this patch in grub so it can support CAS reboot for ppc64le Thanks ** Affects: grub-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Ubuntu on IBM Power Systems Bug Triage (ubuntu-power-triage) Status: New ** Tags: architecture-ppc64le bugnameltc-192533 severity-medium targetmilestone-inin--- ** Tags added: architecture-ppc64le bugnameltc-192533 severity-medium targetmilestone-inin--- -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1944508 Title: [P10] CAS : last kernel not auto booted To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1944508/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
