Did you get tasks or do you not use tasks?

[Bug 1945368]

2021-10-20 Thread Rimersburgboro
Am going to try this again (comment 78) after I re-install TB 78.1. My
separate installation of TB 78.1 auto-updated to TB 91.2.0 at some point
without my knowledge (note there are *no addons installed at all*) and
*home calendar and tasks lost again* in that installation now. I am sure
they are in the local.sqlite file as before, but not showing for
whatever reason. Other calendars appear unaffected, still seem to have
all events in them. No add ons, I am not syncing with any other
calendars or applications. Will repeat steps as I did before to install
TB 78 and remember this time to tell it not to update, set up bare
profile with no email, etc., just calendars.

Before I realized the update had occurred, did try pasting in
storage.sdb from a 09/22/2021 backup file, TB version unknown, with no
showing tasks changes. Confirmed by changing task filtering several
ways.

Note 1: Have installed TB 78.13 and imported .ics calendar into home
calendar. All events and tasks show up like a champ. (No email set up,
no add ons, just bare.)

**Note 2: Also installed clean TB 91.2.0 and when I tried to import .ics
calendar, it appeared to just stall on "loading items" - see screenshot.
Only took seconds in 78.13. Should I wait longer? Why will it not import
the .ics? (exported in this format from TB)**

Note 3: Part of the problem with the TB 91 update could be the advice to
import csv calendar as I opened this file by itself and noticed that it
has lost a ton of data - those tasks I showed in file uploads "Call
Union..." are not in the .csv.

[Bug 1945368]

2021-10-20 Thread Rimersburgboro
Just performed another previous step, removed Calendar-data and prefs.js files
from new clean TB 91.2.0 and pasted in those files from working TB 78.13 and
VOILA! Main calndar events and tasks appeared!
So, why will these not show with the same files in the updated version of TB
91.2.0. Must have had something to do with previous addons now disabled and
removed?

So, how do I move on forward from here in the most successful fashion?
Updated TB 91.2.0 version has all of my email folders, etc., but no
tasks and clean TB 91.2.0 has all of my tasks, but no email folders.
What's the best way to get both in one, please?

[Bug 1603500] Re: conmux-daemon@service prevents config files with hyphens

2021-10-20 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package conmux - 0.12.0-2

---
conmux (0.12.0-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * QA upload.
  * Orphan the package.
  * Import all changes from downstream Ubuntu.
  * debian/control: Add Vcs-* fields for git packaging repo.
  * debian/conmux-daemon@.service: Do not unescape filename. This fixes
the case where a hyphen in instance name is wrongly restored as slash
symbol. (Closes: #831358) (LP: #1603500)
  * Directly depends on perl instead of perl-modules. (lintian error)
  * debian/copyright: Fix grammar.

  [ Steve Langasek ]
  * Ubuntu changes:
- Add systemd units in addition to the existing upstart one. Note that
all logs are redirected to the journal (syslog if installed) instead
of individual logs. You can use journalctl -u
conmux-daemon@ to get individual daemon logs.
- Add debian/conmux-daemon-generator to generate dynamic systemd
  instances based on /etc/conmux/*.cf.
- Bump Standards-Version.
- Removing HomePage: no homepage anymore for this project.
  (Closes: #759763)
- debian/conmux-daemon-generator: add $1 for the systemd generator path
  instead of hardcoding.
  * Bump version of debhelper build-dep and drop build-dep on obsolete
dh-systemd.

Issue description

Distinct input events can incorrectly share the same timestamp, even
though they were actually generated a few milliseconds (or even seconds)
apart and a "SYN_REPORT" event occurred between them. See example output
below.

Event: time 1616757853.508886, -- SYN_REPORT

Reproduction steps

To reproduce the above:
1. Run evtest and select a device that supports emulated repeat events. (such
as a keyboard)
2. Press and hold a key for a few seconds and then release.
3. Notice that the "release" event (value 2) incorrectly shares the same
timestamp as the last repeat event "value 0".

Prior work

* A similar issue was fixed in 6c7e54bd5fda ("Input: reset device timestamp on
sync") by making sure the timestamp is reset after a "SYN_REPORT" event is
generated, forcing a new timestamp to be created for following events. However,
it only handled the case of events that were sent to the input_handle_event()
function, and didn't cover "SYN_REPORT" events that were generated internally
in the input core, such as emulated repeat events.
* Another similar issue was fixed by cb5a89cdbaec ("Input: fix stale timestamp
on key autorepeat events") which made sure that each repeat event got an
updated timestamp. However, it didn't prevent those timestamps from becoming
stale and used by following events.

Proposed fix

The attached patch resets the timestamp similarly to 6c7e54bd5fda
("Input: reset device timestamp on sync"), but does so in every case a
"SYN_REPORT" event is generated by the input core. The idea being that
the next event sequence would then be forced to get a new timestamp.

where this issue was reported, which was only partially fixed by cb5a89cdbaec
("Input: fix stale timestamp on key autorepeat events"). While "repeat" events

[Bug 1946987] Re: Nvidia 340 Xorg driver is installed but not loaded

2021-10-20 Thread Jarno Suni
** Description changed:

I tried both nouveau and nvidia-340 drivers. It used to work at least by
the latter one in Xubuntu 18.04, even with HWE kernel

  When using the nvidia-340 driver:
  $ xrandr
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
  Screen 0: minimum 1920 x 1200, current 1920 x 1200, maximum 1920 x 1200
  default connected 1920x1200+0+0 0mm x 0mm
     1920x1200 77.00*

A device is connected in HDMI and xrand does not even list the
connector. When using nouveau, HDMI is listed but it shows as
  disconnected.
+
+ WORKAROUND when using nvidia driver:
+ Log out of session. Then lightdm screen shows on both monitors. And if I then
log in to a session, the extrernal monitor works there, too.

dvtc2b-2.gpfs.net: OS: Debian Linux: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS => Kernel:

--- Comment From boris.m...@de.ibm.com 2021-09-17 09:36 EDT---
I double-checked with Canonical regarding the current / in-service release
level of 20.04 LTS. The current level is 20.04.3, to be more precise 20.04.3
with Kernel 5.4.0.84. Therefore, you should try to re-produce the bug on the
20.04.3 release.

Apart from the (not supported anymore) 20.04.2 release level, a first
look on the error messages strongly hints to a GPFS error.
("vmcore/dvtc2b-2.gpfs.net_202106240332/dmesg.202106240332")

@Aleksandra: can you please confirm if GPFS is running on the system?

--- Comment From aleksandra.pa...@de.ibm.com 2021-09-20 05:29 EDT---
Yes, gpfs is running on the system.

[Bug 1946965] Re: python3-defaults: py3versions -i does not list python3.10 when it is installed

2021-10-20 Thread Graham Inggs
This doesn't affect upgrades, so I don't think it's needed in focal.
Hirsute also has python3.10 available, but not as a supported version,
and is also affected by this, but I don't think worth another SRU.

[Bug 1947498] Re: zfs/zpool encryption crash on server 21.10

2021-10-20 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Even more trouble: The machine, although freshly installed, can't even
properly mount the filesystems received by zfs send|zfs receive from a
20.04 machine, and hangs in shutdown, does not even turn itself off.
Several PANICs.

ZFS for 21.10 is really broken.

[Bug 1878952] Re: python-nautilus and python3-nautilus are in conflict on focal

2021-10-20 Thread Michael Wögerbauer
I can confirm this problem for Pop_OS 21.04 and ownCloud-client.
Isn't there any solution with a symbolic link? I tried
sudo ln -s /usr/share/lintian/overrides/python3-nautilus
/usr/share/lintian/overrides/python-nautilus
but without success.

Hello, thank you very much for your answer.

Unfortunately, the new version also does not enable zram. At the moment
there are several kernel problems (rpi on 21.10). Maybe I should wait
until the 8th of november.

[Bug 1947568] Re: cannot promote clone: "not a cloned filesystem"

2021-10-20 Thread James Dingwall
** Description changed:

I have a zvol containing a Windows image for a virtual machine. After
restarting the system a node under /dev/zvol/... was not created for the
virtual disk and no amount of prompting by `udevadm trigger` helped.
Instead I created a snapshot from the most recent hourly backup:

  # zfs clone rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda@hourly07
rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda-new
  # zfs promote rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda-new
cannot promote 'rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda-new': not a cloned filesystem
(didn't work here but carried on assuming something can be sorted later)
  # zfs rename rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda-old
  # zfs rename rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda-new rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda

Entries in /dev appeared and I could start the virtual machine. Trying
to promote the clone gives 'not a cloned filesystem' message. I later
renamed the old zvol and tried to cleanup:

  # zfs rename rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda-old rpool/to-be-deleted
  # zfs destroy rpool/to-be-deleted@hourly07
cannot destroy 'rpool/to-be-deleted@hourly07': snapshot has dependent clones
use '-R' to destroy the following datasets:
  rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda@hourly09
  rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda@hourly10
  rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda
  # zfs promote rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda
cannot promote 'rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda': not a cloned filesystem

  # zfs get origin rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda
  NAMEPROPERTY VALUE SOURCE
  rpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda originrpool/to-be-deleted@hourly07 -

  # zfs get clones rpool/to-be-deleted@hourly07
  NAME PROPERTY VALUE SOURCE
  rpool/to-be-deleted@hourly07 clonesrpool/vm/windows/windows10/hda -

The dependency between seems to be as expected. This small test fails
  in the same way:

  # zfs create -V1G rpool/vm/test
  # zfs snapshot rpool/vm/test@test2
  # zfs clone rpool/vm/test@test2 rpool/vm/test3
  # zfs promote rpool/vm/test3
cannot promote 'rpool/vm/test3': not a cloned filesystem
  # zfs get origin rpool/vm/test3
  NAMEPROPERTY VALUESOURCE
  rpool/vm/test3 originrpool/vm/test@test2 -
  # zfs get clones rpool/vm/test@test2
  NAME PROPERTY VALUE SOURCE
  rpool/vm/test@test2 clonesrpool/vm/test3 -

All the zpool members are ONLINE and no errors are reported.

[Bug 1947601] Re: Cannot start docker container on ubuntu 21.10 server for 64-bit raspberry pi

2021-10-20 Thread ianmacs
** Description changed:

Using the Ubuntu image for Raspberry Pi from here:
  https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/21.10/release/ubuntu-21.10-preinstalled-
  server-arm64+raspi.img.xz

After installing the docker.io package, I cannot start a docker
  container. Example:

$ sudo docker run --rm hello-world
docker: Error response from daemon: failed to create endpoint pensive_greider
on network bridge: failed to add the host (veth2102512) <=> sandbox
(veth4fb66df) pair interfaces: operation not supported.

This was working in the previous ubuntu release for 64 bit raspberry pi,
  21.04.

- Searching for this error suggests it could be a problem with linux
- kernel module availability.
-
- Attaching info generated by ubuntu-bug for package linux-image-raspi. I
- can only attach 1 file, therefore inlining the ubuntu-bug info for
- package docker.io (output is far shorter than for the kernel):

[Bug 1946599] Re: Firefox break when returning from console with wayland (nvidia) on ubuntu 21.10 beta

2021-10-20 Thread MV
I tried to remove and then reinstall firefox beta. "snap remove firefox"
removed all my firefox data. The "Snap run firefox" command did not
allow me to retrieve this data from the ~/.mozilla directory.

I deleted the firefox snap and installed the deb version 93.

Hi Brahamaprakash,

Not sure whether it relates to checkbox but could you please past the
log from your MaaS server?

1. /var/log/maas/regiond.log begin system boot until stuck in initramfs.
2. the MAC address of the network interface you attaching to MaaS subnet.
3. the setup of minimum kernel on your MaaS for discovery
4. the maas version you are using.
5. the chip/driver version of your network interface.

[Bug 1928954] Re: sssd not using offline credentials even no network available

2021-10-20 Thread Walter Kovacs
Hello,

today I was able to play around some more. I installed a new VM with
Ubuntu 20.04. The domain join is done by our install script. I changed
it to set log level to 6.

I logged in with a user, disconnected the LAN connection and logged out.

Then I was not able to login for a few minutes. Without doing anything
but wait a login was possible. I guess it took a while to discover that
the offline credentials needed to be used.

Unfortunately there was no way to avoid that as the compilation process
creates that directory, but no files. I can probably fix that in the
future, but since the baseline of the bug was functionality, that goal
is met.

[Bug 1946347] Re: fwupd translations are missing from langpacks

2021-10-20 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The issue there is that the langpack category is determined by checking
for keywords in the description/section/build-depends, gnome or gtk
aren't mentioned but it build-depends on 'umockdev' which includes 'kde'
and makes it sorted as a kde component. Those langpacks aren't built
anymore so the template is simply ignore.

I've proposed a fix now

[Bug 1929923] Re: [UBUNTU 20.04] LPAR becomes unresponsive after the Kernel panic - rq_qos_wake_function

2021-10-20 Thread Frank Heimes
Without further details there is no guarantee that this is caused by GPFS (in
such cases a dump analysis is usually needed to find the root cause).
But scanning this log message for gpfs and mmfs tells me that gpfs is installed,
hence it's user space daemon (mmfsd) is running and (more importantly) the
kernel module (mmfslinux) is active.
Third party kernel modules can cause issues, since they are usually developed
towards a certain kernel version, and tend to start failing while the kernel
evolves, hence the kernel is marked as "Tainted".
So this tells me that not the entire kernel/module combination that's running
is pristine Ubuntu.

We usually ask to recreate this in a pristine Ubuntu environment (not
having a tainted kernel).

In addition I see the gpfs module listed in the call trace again (in
combination with (ksys_lseek) which is another indicator:
[645967.290048] ([<001f80a8d2ca>] gpfs_f_llseek+0x4a/0x280 [mmfslinux])
[645967.290053] [<0001d75f5ed2>] ksys_lseek

The error/crash message provides just an overview - a look at the full
logs might be helpful.

Was the folder /var/crash checked for any content as well as the GPFS
logs (/var/adm/ras)?

And as already stated, it needs to be ensured that the system is on the latest
(supported) level.
If its not the case, the situation needs to be recreated on the latest, hence
currently supported level:
This "sudo apt update && apt-cache policy linux-generic"
will show your current kernel ('Installed'), but also where you should be
("Candidate").

( This btw. would also apply to GPFS itself (being on the latest level):
http://files.gpfsug.org/presentations/2017/NERSC/GPFS-Troubleshooting-Apr-2017.pdf

[Bug 1947859] [NEW] linux-azure: Updata MANA to 5.15-rc6

2021-10-20 Thread Tim Gardner
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

[Impact]

Microsoft has requested the addition of MANA EQ-sharing patch set which
is essentially everything up through v5.15-rc6.

3 more patches from Haiyang regarding EQ-sharing for Microsoft Azure
Network Adapter (MANA). This saves MSI-X interrupts and allows the host
to offer more virtual ports (network interfaces) to the VM. With the
patches, the MANA driver supports up to 256 virtual ports per VF (it was
16/VF), and support up to 64 queues per vPort (it was 16).

[Test Case]

Microsoft to test and verify.

[Where things might go wrong]

More virtual ports may cause issues in older kernels.

[Bug 1947860] [NEW] qemu-arm-static swallows the program name, and shifts all arguments left

2021-10-20 Thread Kai Horstmann
Public bug reported:

Problem with qemu-arm-static version 1:6.0+dfsg-2expubuntu1, as of recent Impish
When using qemu-arm-static for cross-debootstrap for an ARM machine argument 0
of the invoked ARM program does not contain the name of the executable but
argument 1, argument 2 is passed as argument 1 and so forth.
Thus all program calls are missing the 1st argument.
Eample: A shell script test.sh

-- Start
#!/bin/sh

echo "\$0=$0"
echo "\$1=$1"
echo "\$1=$2"
echo "\$*=$*"
-- End

Running the script as "./test.sh a bb ccc " emits:
$0=./test.sh
$1=a
$2=bb
$*=a bb ccc

Reproduce the erroneous behavior of qemu-arm-static
Create a directory armTest. Enter:
sudo debootstrap --foreign --verbose --arch=armhf impish armTest
sudo cp test.sh armTest
sudo cp -v /usr/bin/qemu-arm-static armTest/usr/bin

Now run
sudo chroot armTest ./test.sh a bb ccc
The script is now run by the shell for the ARM architecture, and is invoked by
qemu-arm-static.
The script now emits
$0=a
$1=bb
$2=ccc
$*=bb ccc

argument 0 (the program name) disappeared, and all arguments are shifted
up.

Evidence that actually qemu-arm-static is the culprit:
In /etc/apt/sources.list add the hirsute main, main-update, universe and
universe-update repositories. Enter:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install qemu-user-static/hirsute

Confirm that you want to downgrade the program to version
1:5.2+dfsg-9ubuntu3.2 (of hirsute-update).

Copy the downgraded qemu-arm-static to armTest/usr/bin. Repeat the
chroot command. Now the result is the same as invoking test.sh directly
under your x86_64 architecture.

This bug does not only affect shell scripts. Apparently all programs are
affected by the shifted program arguments.

This bug makes a complete cross-debootstrap impossible because the
second debootstrap stage is run as chroot in the target architecture.
Further steps to prepare a ready-to-boot image/SD card are equally
impossible.

[Bug 1939413] Re: /usr/lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/libprotobuf.a’ generated with LTO version 9.2 instead of the expected 11.0

2021-10-20 Thread Alexandre Erwin Ittner
I was running a few test builds with different combinations of gcc,
elfutils and protobuf and trying to make the build fail... but it
continues working despite the older elfutils compiled with the newer
gcc.

Last check was with protobuf-3.12.4-1ubuntu3 (from jammy, 4 days ago) in
an impish 0.185-1build1 and then downgraded to a 0.183-8 built with
11.2.0-7ubuntu2 (from impish), but it still does not trigger the issue
despite the mismatches.

I still could not find the reason.

[Bug 1946599] Re: Firefox break when returning from console with wayland (nvidia) on ubuntu 21.10 beta

2021-10-20 Thread Olivier Tilloy
This is relevant:

Pilote WebGL 1 - RenduWebGL creation failed:
  * WebglAllowWindowsNativeGl:false restricts context creation on this system.
()
  * Exhausted GL driver options. (FEATURE_FAILURE_WEBGL_EXHAUSTED_DRIVERS)

What graphics card do you have, and which drivers? Does WebGL work in
the firefox deb?

You need to make sure that ~/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla doesn't exist before
running the snap, otherwise it won't attempt to do the profile import.

[Bug 1946686] Re: Fix zfs_get_data access to files with wrong generation causing panics

2021-10-20 Thread Andrew Berry
Thanks for your prompt work on this.

I enabled the proposed repository and have upgraded the zfs packages. As
this fix is in the zfs kernel module, I thought I would need to update
the kernel packages too:

```
$ dpkg-query -S /lib/modules/5.4.0-89-generic/kernel/zfs/zfs.ko
linux-modules-5.4.0-89-generic: /lib/modules/5.4.0-89-generic/kernel/zfs/zfs.ko
```

I upgraded to `linux-image-5.4.0-90-generic`, but the module version
looks to be old:

```
[4.366482] ZFS: Loaded module v0.8.3-1ubuntu12.12, ZFS pool version 5000,
ZFS filesystem version 5
$ uname -r
```

I would have expected that version to be `0.8.3-1ubuntu12.14`. Any
suggestions?

[Bug 1940136] Re: HyperV images do not include package manifests

2021-10-20 Thread Robie Basak
Hello Jason, or anyone else affected,

Accepted livecd-rootfs into bionic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/livecd-
rootfs/2.525.56 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-bionic. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

** Changed in: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu Bionic)
   Status: New => Fix Committed

** Tags added: verification-needed-bionic

2021-10-20 Thread Alistair
Identified that the command :

update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-5.11.0-38-generic

required approx 88M of disk space on /boot, but I only had 73M:
df -h /boot
bpool/BOOT/ubuntu_l3g9y7 286M 213M 73M 75% /boot

Problem resolved by manually running zsys garbage collection (laptop, so
scheduled jobs are unable to run when the laptop is off/hybernating.

To demonstrate, use "zsysctl machine show to list the ZFS snapshots that
are part of zsys. Use with wc to show the number of snapshots before
garbage collection and after, hopefully with a reduction:

zsysctl machine show|wc
127 4687959
zsysctl service gc
zsysctl machine show|wc
105 3816350

Free space after this has run:
df -lh /boot
FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on
bpool/BOOT/ubuntu_l3g9y7 375M 202M 174M 54% /boot

Monitoring the Avail space for boot while re-running apt upgrade :
 df -h /boot
FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on

before returning to 174M available.
zfs list -r bpool
NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
bpool 1.58G 174M 96K /boot
bpool/BOOT1.58G 174M 96K none
bpool/BOOT/ubuntu_l3g9y7 1.58G 174M 201M /boot

The used space in this case is in zfs snapshots, hence zsys garbage
collection resolved this.

Where zfs and zsys are installed, checking free space and "bloat"
required space, with the option/suggestion to run "zsysctl service gc".

[Bug 1898005] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGABRT in st_bin_destroy: assertion failed: (priv->child == NULL) called from DesktopManager::_destroyDesktopIcons() [desktopManager.js:234]

2021-10-20 Thread Robie Basak
Hello Peter, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons into focal-proposed. The
package will build now and be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-desktop-
icons/20.04.0-3~ubuntu20.04.4 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal.

** Changed in: gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons (Ubuntu Focal)
Status: In Progress => Fix Committed

[Bug 1843588] Re: Nautilus doesn't copy filenames for paste to other programs anymore

2021-10-20 Thread Robie Basak
According to the upstream bug, the change was necessary to work
correctly with the desktop shell extension. Won't reverting the change
risk integration issues with extensions, including the ones we ship by
default? Shouldn't this be detailed in "Where problems could occur", and
mitigation integrated into the Test Plan?
