[Bug 1970453] Re: DMAR: ERROR: DMA PTE for vPFN 0x7bf32 already set

2022-05-13 Thread Marian Rainer-Harbach
In my case the host is not running any virtual machines. I have another
similar HPE Gen9 server (without the HPE Smart HBA H240 SATA controller)
that doesn't have the problem. So in my case I suspect the H240
controller is (at least part of) the problem.

@phdonnelly, are you using VMs and/or do you have an H240 controller?

[Bug 1973279] [NEW] Jammy update: v5.17.4 upstream stable release

2022-05-13 Thread Paolo Pisati
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

[Bug 1973258] Re: downloads won't work in any directory apart from the default one using any browser.

2022-05-13 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on
Libera.chat.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1973258/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 1973283] [NEW] dh with tempdir doesn't install into tempdir

2022-05-13 Thread Kyle Bloom
Public bug reported:

We are using the following rule while doing builds for Synergy
(https://github.com/symless/synergy-core).

> dh $@ --buildsystem=cmake --builddirectory=build -Pbuild/debian
--parallel

It appears on 22.04, the temporary directory gets ignored at some point
and the project binaries get installed into the source debian directory.

This causes an empty-binary-packages warning and the deb is, in fact,
empty.

Our current workaround is the remove the temporary directory flag.
However, I feel this is still a bug worth reporting.

When building on 20.04:

> Install the project...
> /usr/bin/cmake -P cmake_install.cmake
> -- Install configuration: "None"
> -- Installing:
> /__w/synergy-core/synergy-core/build/debian/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/synergy.svg

[Bug 1965439] Re: software-properties-qt can no longer launch when called by kdesu

2022-05-13 Thread Rik Mills
Seems to be caused by: https://salsa.debian.org/sudo-
team/sudo/-/commit/59db341d46aa4c26b54c1270e69f2562e7f3d751

Commenting out the: 'Defaults use_pty' in /etc/suduoers seems to fix
things for me.

Now as that was added to fix a CVE, reverting that probably isn't a easy
fix

[Bug 1871030]

2022-05-13 Thread Forest
Alternative workaround step 2, leaving system config files untouched:

Copy /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.kde.kdeconnect.service to
~/.local/share/dbus-1/services/ and change the Exec= line of the copy to
Exec=/usr/bin/false

When combined with step 1 of my workaround, this prevents kdeconnectd
from launching in that user's sessions. It adds some clutter to the
session log, as dbus-daemon complains that the executable is failing,
but it gives up after several tries and seems to remain quiet after
that.

[Bug 1971935] Re: Invalid pipefs-directory prevents rpc-gssd.service from starting

2022-05-13 Thread Stefan Staeglich
Adjusting the nfs.conf mitigates the issue as there is a mount unit
var-lib-nfs-rpc_pipefs.mount:
[general]
pipefs-directory=/var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs/

So the package postinst script should just call the generator or the
default of pipefs-directory should match the default mount unit

[Bug 1973203] Re: Kubuntu does not shut down properly

2022-05-13 Thread Hannah Hilliger
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  Hello

I'm having issues with Kubuntu 22.04 on a Thinkpad X1 Carbon 4th generation.
After a clean install without encryption, when I turn off the laptop, it does
not shut down properly (some lights on my keyboard stay turned on even though
the power button goes black), so I have to press the power button during 7
seconds to turn it off and then I can turn it on again. It seems to be a
similar error to this one:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/1972086
Also, the standby mode does not work: When I go into standby mode, some
lights on my keyboard stay on and I can't get my laptop to exit the standby
mode, unless I am turning it of by pressing the power button and then restart
my system.
And one more thing: When I boot into Ubuntu 22.04 or Kubuntu 22.04 using an
USB stick, it takes about 5 minutes while other Linux versions (including
Ubuntu 20.04 lts) it takes only a few seconds. Also there is none of the above
problems in Ubuntu 20.04 lts.

If you need any more information, just ask but please also give me a
hint on how to get the information as I am not really familiar with
  linux-systems.

  Best regards!

[Bug 1973288] [NEW] Since Jammy, Alt+Tab is not working properly

2022-05-13 Thread nymea
Public bug reported:

Since the upgrade to jammy alt+tab doesn't work any more properly when
hitting it very fast.

Doing a slow Alt+Tab works fine, but just quickly hitting the two keys
will not switch the window any more, instead a notification bubble will
appear says "Application XYZ is ready".

It kinda feels like it's a race between the alt+tab and the focus
stealing prevention. I.e. if one is fast enough, the windows are swapped
before the focus stealing prevention realizes that the user actually
wants to change focus and prevents the new window coming to the front,
just displaying the notification bubble instead.

FWIW, this is on X11, not sure if wayland would be affected too as
wayland is not an option for the Dell XPS yet due to HighDPI screen
scaling not working good enough yet.

[Bug 1971935] Re: Invalid pipefs-directory prevents rpc-gssd.service from starting

2022-05-13 Thread Anders Larsson
Sorry for the late response. From what I can see we don't really
implement any dependency chain when configuring NFS/Kerberos on Ubuntu.
We haven't seen this issue in earlier releases of Ubuntu (20.04 and
earlier) though. But seems like the process worked differently at that
point since /etc/nfs.conf didn't exist.

[Bug 1967856] Re: Hairpin traffic does not work with centralized NAT gw

2022-05-13 Thread Frode Nordahl
A update on some findings.

If we either revert OVS commit [4], OR change a open vswitch kernel data
path function [5] to always return 'false' (credits to Numan), the
problem goes away.

This also appears to be a root of a different issue previously reported
to the ovs-discuss list [6].

[Bug 1973292] [NEW] tigervnc server can't generate SSL certificate

2022-05-13 Thread Michael Bode
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 22.04, tigervnc-common 1.12.0+dfsg-4 amd64

What happens:
When I start tigervncserver with option -SecurityTypes X509Plain it reports the
following error:

vncserver -geometry 1920x1080 -localhost no -autokill -SecurityTypes
X509Plain

You will require a certificate to use X509None, X509Vnc, or X509Plain.
I will generate a self signed certificate for you in
/home/mb/.vnc/demk-wks-400-SrvCert.pem.

-
Cannot write random bytes:
4057E14E287F:error:127A:random number generator:RAND_write_file:Not a
regular file:../crypto/rand/randfile.c:190:Filename=/dev/urandom
The openssl command /usr/bin/openssl req -newkey
ec:/etc/tigervnc/openssl-ecparams.pem -x509 -days 2190 -nodes -config - -out
/home/mb/.vnc/demk-wks-400-SrvCert.pem -keyout
/home/mb/.vnc/demk-wks-400-SrvKey.pem failed: 256

which seems plausible since it can't write to /dev/urandmon.

What should happen:

vncserver creates a self signed certifiate and starts.

Workaround (fix?) is to comment out the following line in
/etc/tigervnc/openssl.cnf:

#RANDFILE= /dev/urandom

[Bug 1973293] [NEW] there is no working virtual keyboard available on Kubuntu 22.04, in particular when using wayland

2022-05-13 Thread Denny
Public bug reported:

With https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maliit-framework/+bug/1947452
maliit was dropped from Ubuntu (it had not been packaged for a while anyway).
Qt keyboard was dropped upstream in favour of providing the right to choose...

Kubuntu offers on wayland under virtual keyboards an interface to select
a virtual keyboard, but there are no alternatives selectable or
installable.

There is no working virtual keyboard solution on Kubuntu 22.04 in
particular when using wayland. Even on x11 the available alternatives
(e.g. onboard) do not work well with KDE.

[Bug 1971955] Re: systemd-udevd call unshare process when attaching nvme volume

2022-05-13 Thread Alberto Mardegan
Hi Vincent, if I understand it correctly, this command scans the
inserted media for snapd assertions and imports them.

It's still not clear to me what's happening: even if you are running on
a classic system, the "auto-import is disabled on classic" is just a
notification and not an error: the program still exits with a 0 exist
status. Yet, in the logs you provided, it appears as if the exist status
is 1. Could it be that the error is not coming from "snap auto-import",
but rather from the "unshare" command?

Can you please try to manually edit the file (after making a copy of
it!) and change the RUN line into

RUN+="/usr/bin/unshare -m /bin/echo hello"

and see if you still get those errors in the log?

[Bug 1973296] [NEW] [UBUNTU 20.04] OpenCryptoki >= 3.13 with upgraded EP11 host library - Dilithium support not available

2022-05-13 Thread bugproxy
Public bug reported:

openCryptoki version 3.13.0 or higher need a fix to continue to support
the Dilithium mechanisms when using an upgraded EP11 host library.

https://github.com/opencryptoki/opencryptoki/commit/b40982e19e27b22ef724c7431a1a475f1858e199
"EP11: Dilithium: Specify OID of key strength at key generation"

"EP11: Fix host library version query"

Without these fixes, CKM_IBM_DILITHIUM mechanism do not show up as
supported by the EP11 token when an upgraded EP11 host library is used,
which would be a regression.

[Bug 1784774] Re: snapd is not autofs aware and fails with nfs home dir

2022-05-13 Thread Alberto Mardegan
I believe that this is a duplicate of bug 1884299.

A few questions to people affected by this bug:

1) are you using autofs?

2) can you please try running "sudo systemctl restart snapd" after
logging in into your $HOME, and then try running a snap again?

3) If that still fails, can you paste the journal logs here (from the
time that snapd was restarted)?

[Bug 1973297] [NEW] HP Probook 450 G8 model T87 support in kernel

2022-05-13 Thread Alexey Akhapkin
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
The mic mute/audio mute LEDS are not work on HP Probook 450 G8 model T87

[Fix]
It needs the specific quirk for the hardware layout.
Thus, add the quirks to make it works.

[Test]
After applying the quirk, the audio/mic mute LEDs are working good.

[Where problems could occur]
Hewlett-Packard released this year new submodels for some G8 models of laptops
and changed subsystem PCI ID for these new submodels.
HP published special information about this in the next document:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_5789324-5789376-16
For example, even HP Probook 450 G8 model listed in
sound/pci/hda/patch_realtek.c, in the laptop with recent T87 submodel audio/mic
mute LEDs not working because of changed subsystem PCI ID.

[Bug 1973297] Re: HP Probook 450 G8 model T87 support in kernel

2022-05-13 Thread Alexey Akhapkin
HP released this year new submodels for some G8 models of laptops and
changed subsystem PCI ID for these new submodels.

For example, my own laptop has bios ID T87 and lspci shows
00:1f.3 Multimedia audio controller [0401]: Intel Corporation Tiger Lake-LP
Smart Sound Technology Audio Controller [8086:a0c8] (rev 20)
Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:8a75]

!!![103c:8a75] but not [103c:87e7]!!!

I prepared little fix related to this information regarding new model of
Probook 450 G8 and successfully tested it on 5.17.5 kernel.

P.S. looks like it is good to add next strings to patch_realtek.c also, but I
can't test it:

SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x103c, 0x8aB3, "HP EliteBook 840 G8 Notebook PC T39",
ALC285_FIXUP_HP_GPIO_LED),HP released this year new submodels for some G8
models of laptops and changed subsystem PCI ID for these new submodels.
