I believe this may be the same issue as Bug #212970, and also fixed by the installation of libpam-smbpass (automatically installed by default along with samba when first sharing a folder. [Bug 212970] Re: nautilus-share permissions (samba password is not set)
I believe the current nautilus-share will install libpam-smbpass, which will generate smb passwords based on your unix passwords. That's the reason it asks you to restart your session upon installation. I'm marking this as fix released. If you still see this issue (without libpam-smbpass installed) feel free to reopen this bug. ** Changed in: nautilus-share (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- nautilus-share permissions (samba password is not set) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212970 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 211966] Re: nautilus-share report a warning about missing /var/lib/samba/usershares
As per Václav Šmilauer's post, all that's required after the samba installation is a restart of the session, i.e. logging out and logging back in. The current nautilus-share prompts the user after the auto- installation of samba (and libpam-smbpass) to restart the session. Hence, I'm marking this as fix released. ** Changed in: nautilus-share (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- nautilus-share report a warning about missing /var/lib/samba/usershares https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211966 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for your efforts, but I've already fixed that part in the nautilus-share git packaging repository for Debian (I prefer the use of strstr, because "Everyone:R/F" can appear anywhere in the string) and was poking around with the emblem issue for the past few hours. The results of my tests were that the bug cannot be fixed in nautilus-share, but resides in the nautilus extensions interface code. Specifically, the Nautilus Info Provider interface calls the function provided by an extension for all files/directories except the XDG standard directories, i.e. Documents, Music, Pictures, etc. If this is fixed in Nautilus, then the emblem issue would automatically be fixed without any change in nautilus-share code. affects ubuntu/nautilus status new -- Regards, Chow Loong Jin ** Also affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Sharing Icons don't show except for Downloads folder https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/280480 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 381242] [NEW] gnome-power-manager does not detect battery discharging
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager In Karmic, gnome-power-manager does not detect the current charge of the battery while it is discharging. To summarize: 1. Disconnect power cord: 2. Note that gpm's tray icon detects that the power cord's disconnected, and says 99% battery 3. Wait a while 4. Note that the battery charge monitor applet shows the charge dropping, while the tooltip of gnome-power-manager shows the battery still full. 5. Plug the cord back in. 6. Note that gpm's tray icon detects that the power cord is plugged back in, and suddenly knows the correct charge. To be make things even clearer, I shall attach a screenshot of the power graph, with data points enabled. Basically, the charge level of the battery is only detected when the power cord is disconnected, when it's connected, and when it's charging, but not when it's discharging. This is dangerous as the user will not be warned when the power hits critical level (because gpm thinks it's still 99%), and the system will not auto-hibernate despite being configured to do so, resulting in "sudden death" of the computer with the battery completely exhausted. [Bug 367377] Re: High load average, disk read, no apparent reason - 2.6.28-11
I'm confirming this. My restart X cycle happens at approximately once every 5 or 6 hours of usage. The symptoms are exactly as mentioned, but with an addition. /proc/dri/0/gem_objects shows a large number of GEM objects allocated, but the number of GEM objects does not really matter. What really matters is the memory consumption (the figure on the second line) of the GEM objects. When this hits approximately 2G, my system will almost slow to a halt. Starting or closing any application becomes a pain, and almost any action in particular can cause intense swapping to occur (I'm assuming that the large disk I/O is swapping, because iotop does not show anything). The kernel I am running is 2.6.30 rc5, from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/. But that said, I don't believe this to be a kernel bug. If it was, I don't think restarting Xorg would cause all the cached memory (as shown in by free) to be freed up, as well as the swap. I've also found that the following patch to libdrm can slow down the memory leak issues considerably, but not stop it: Index: drm-snapshot-2.4.11+git20090519.f355ad89/libdrm/intel/intel_bufmgr_gem.c === --- drm-snapshot-2.4.11+git20090519.f355ad89.orig/libdrm/intel/intel_bufmgr_gem.c 2009-05-20 14:56:16.0 +0800 +++ drm-snapshot-2.4.11+git20090519.f355ad89/libdrm/intel/intel_bufmgr_gem.c 2009-05-20 14:57:20.0 +0800 @@ -83,7 +83,7 @@ /* Only cache objects up to 64MB. [Bug 380210] [NEW] [needs-packaging] geany-plugins-addons
Public bug reported: Addons is a plugin for Geany which adds various small addons to Geany which aren't worth an own plugin but might still be useful for people. The addons included are: * DocList: Adds a new item in the toolbar and when clicked offers a menu listing all open files plus the 'Close All' and 'Close Other Documents' menu items. This can be useful to quickly access open files and switch to them. * OpenURI: Adds 'Open URI' and 'Copy URI' menu items to the editor menu when the word under the cursor looks like a URI. 'Open URI' uses the browser command configured in Geany to open it. * Tasks: Goes through a file being edited and picks out lines with "TODO" or "FIXME" in them. It collects the text after those words and puts them in a new "Tasks" tab in the message window. Clicking on a task in that tab takes you to the line in the file where the task was defined. affects ubuntu -- Regards, Chow Loong Jin ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [needs-packaging] geany-plugins-addons https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/380210 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
