[Bug 841541] Re: num lock is on warning remains even after num lock is turned off (thinkpad, numlock status for laptop and external keyboard different)

2012-02-23 Thread Dominik Menke
Will this patch be backported to Oneiric, too? It's kind of annoying
since I use the num lock function quite often...

[Bug 390989] Re: [SecurityRoadmap] Locked screen shows the desktop

2012-01-15 Thread Dominik Menke
I'm affected, too. I don't believe, this has something to do with
drivers (I'm using nvidia-current) but I think, there is a flaw in the
lock-mechanism.

Occasionally, my desktop does not just flashes, but reveals the running
applications *on top* of the login field (see attached screen shot).

I'm strongly confident, this is just another reason, why you can't use
Ubuntu in companies (think of a payslip sheet at the accounting).

Anyhow, I attached them, too.

[Bug 883430] [NEW] Restoring minimized windows causes window border to be behind the title bar

2011-10-29 Thread Dominik Menke
Public bug reported:

When I minimize a maximized window and later decide to restore this
window, the top border of that window appears behind the »control bar«
(or whatever you call it, see attached pictures).

The annoying part: the window's contents seem to be on the right place,
but they are drawn by $control_bar_height pixels shifted to the top
(where $control_bar_height is the height of, you guessed, the »control
bar« ;-)).

When I Alt-Tab to another window and Alt-Tab back, the control border
appears. Occasionally, I have seen this behavior in Ubuntu Natty, too.

This bug is reproducible with any application. Screenshots:

1. no application is started: https://assets.dmke.org/1-none-started.png
(actually, the amount of running applications is irrelevant)
2. starting gnome-terminal: https://assets.dmke.org/2-terminal-started.png
3. maximizing the window: https://assets.dmke.org/3-terminal-maximized.png
4. minimizing the window: https://assets.dmke.org/4-terminal-minimized.png
5. restoring the window: https://assets.dmke.org/5-terminal-restored.png

In the last screen, note the bottom area, where the background shines
through. By clicking there, the terminal window will not lose focus.

The login screen's picture will be read from ~/.face, so the file will
obviously be created...

(Same problem here, by the way).

[Bug 575044] [NEW] nautilus does not start after login

2010-05-04 Thread Dominik Menke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx
nautilus 1:2.30.0-0ubuntu4
compiz: 1:0.8.4-0ubuntu15
emerald: 0.7.2-0ubuntu4
nvidia-current: 195.36.15-0ubuntu2 (on 9300M chipset)

On my current setup (compiz activated, using emerald as window
decorator), nautilis won't start after login. The desktop icons are
displayed neither. A manual run in a terminal gives this result:

 $ nautilus
 Initializing nautilus-gdu extension
 Initializing nautilus-open-terminal extension

If I disable emerald and compiz, the icons won't show up, too.

Another interesting feature is the behaviour on opening
places/favourites:

Speicherort »file:///home/dmke/repositories« konnte nicht angezeigt werden
Es wurde keine Anwendung gefunden, die diese Datei verarbeiten kann

(I don't know the exact translation, but obviously there is no url
handler for »file://«...)

[Bug 575044] Re: nautilus does not start after login

2010-05-04 Thread Dominik Menke
@Chris Coulson:
I did not upgrade Ubuntu, it was a complete reinstall. But I have copied some
directories from my home directory backup (not sure if the .config directory
was copied, too).

In a guest session no icons are shown (because there are no files
located in .../Desktop), but the window border is drawn.
