[Bug 58797] [Edgy] Upgrade from Dapper - no gnome sounds
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntu-desktop Greetings, This one is a weird one for me. Upgrade from Dapper to Edgy. ALSA works. Gnome Sound Preferences' Device Test Tab tests work (with sound). Sounds on the Sounds tab do not work even with all items checked and proper device selected. Sound has also stopped in Cedega. [Bug 64013] Re: edgy: ooffice crashing x
This is interesting Matthew. I have a gut feeling this is related to your X configuration and not OpenOffice. However the valid question is why does this happen only with OpenOffice. Would you be able to reconfigure X to default and try again? sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg Perhaps with a full update as well: e.g. sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y -f dist-upgrade sudo apt-get -y autoremove sudo apt-get autoclean If this still happens we'll need backtraces and valgrinds on both X and OpenOffice. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash You might also want to run memtest86 from the Grub menu just to make certain it's not a memory issue. ** Changed in: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed = Needs Info -- edgy: ooffice crashing x https://launchpad.net/bugs/64013 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Although I can't replicate the error, I'll confirm this based on the valgrind and pass to Matthias. I've seen the same error in libvclplug_gen680li.so with another recent bug. This might be related to the other one where it appears that there is a linkage error. Matthias will need to double-check the build and recompile. At that point you (jbj) will need to retest. I'll let him make the call on the relatedness. FYI: The original gdb trace does not seem to match with the valgrind. ** Changed in: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Matthias Klose Status: Needs Info = Confirmed -- Paste from writer to gaim in edgy segfaults writer https://launchpad.net/bugs/65226 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 64013] Re: edgy: ooffice crashing x
Matthew, So it looks like i2c, GLCore, and GLX are missing in the Good X setup. I've had a look at the OOo logs and the GDB. It's a poser as they say. I've now seen 2 other bugs with issues which seem to manifest in GLX but my hunch is that there is something awry with packaging environment on our end for OOo. This might be a root cause for OOo crashing but it wouldn't take down X. So, given that your X config issue is most likely tied to GLX, I am of the current opinion that you have something awry with your libraries. I'm not qualified to work on those even though I can fake it at times). Do you have libgl1-mesa-dri (6.5.1) and libgl1-mesa-glx (6.5.1) installed? If not, please install them, put the bad X config back, and try to make it crash again. [Bug 138277] Re: Gnome settings daemon doesn't work
Hi, I've applied the fix that just hit the repositories. It worked however I am unable to launch gnome-appearance-properties now. In fact, my terminal font is so small that I've had to copy and paste this error into gedit :-) [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gnome-appearance-properties (gnome-appearance-properties:6491): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_new: assertion `width 0' failed (gnome-appearance-properties:6491): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_scale_simple: assertion `src != NULL' failed (gnome-appearance-properties:6491): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed (gnome-appearance-properties:6491): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_new: assertion `width 0' failed (gnome-appearance-properties:6491): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_scale_simple: assertion `src != NULL' failed (gnome-appearance-properties:6491): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed (gnome-appearance-properties:6491): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_width: assertion `pixbuf != NULL' failed (gnome-appearance-properties:6491): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_height: assertion `pixbuf != NULL' failed (gnome-appearance-properties:6491): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_width: assertion `pixbuf != NULL' failed (gnome-appearance-properties:6491): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_height: assertion `pixbuf != NULL' failed The program 'gnome-appearance-properties' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadPixmap (invalid Pixmap parameter)'. (Details: serial 314 error_code 4 request_code 54 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ I'm wondering if clearing out parts of .gnome2 might be worth a shot. -- Gnome settings daemon doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138277 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I've just confirmed on my non-synaptics machine that this is also broken with the recent changes so perhaps it's not directly related to this bug. -- Gnome settings daemon doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138277 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
