[Bug 956000] Re: 'juju bootstrap' with no arguments gives confusing message

2012-06-24 Thread Martin Erik Werner
I tested the patch you, Allesandro Losavio, suggested on IRC, and in
that version it's not good, since it makes juju fail to build from
source.

It's worth noting that currently juju also FTBFS in Quantal due to
failing test cases, see Bug #1017113, however, applying this patch makes
it fail earlier in the process, so I'm assuming that it creates a
separate issue.

I've attached the build log for this patch.

This is a build-dependency of the FPS game Red Eclipse, which, as soon

2012-02-13 Thread Martin Erik Werner
Ack! Seems like the libfreetype6-dev was pulled along with the rest of
the build-dependencies on Debain, wheras only libfreetype6 is pulled in
on Ubuntu.

Regardless, the build-dependecies were simultaneously superfluous and
incomplete, I've fixed this and requested sponsorship for this, hope to
re-request sync as soon as it's uploaded.

[Bug 934951] Re: FFE: Sync redeclipse 1.2-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (contrib)

2012-02-23 Thread Martin Erik Werner
I have tested and confirmed that installing the packages and running the
application works in the current precise-amd64-daily liveCD.

I'm also attaching buildlogs from precise pbuilder-chroots in case it is
helpful.
These logs include installation tests (using theB92test-pkg pbuilder hook with
--force-yes), and includes a local mini-dinstall instance in order to supply
the redeclipse-data package for the install test.

[Bug 941338] [NEW] FFE: Sync redeclipse 1.2-2 (multiverse) from Debian unstable (contrib)

2012-02-26 Thread Martin Erik Werner
Public bug reported:

* Feature Freeze Exception Request *

Please sync redeclipse 1.2-2 (multiverse) from Debian unstable (contrib)

Currently the defualt size icon which are displayed in the Unity app
launcher is incorrectly sized (x32 instead of x48) which makes it look
very ugly. It would be nice if you could sync this update in order to
get a prettier icon :)

Changelog entries since current precise version 1.2-1:

redeclipse (1.2-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/backported-fix-icon-sizes.patch
- Fix icon size and location, cherry-picked from upstream SVN
  * Standards-Version 3.9.3
- Set final copyright Format: link
  * Instruct to use -h before -r in reportbug instrutions

The

The other way should work, or give a warning in order to remain a sane
UI, which is a feature request.

This is incorrectly marked as a support request.

[Bug 1045144] [NEW] FFe: Sync redeclipse 1.3.1-1 (multiverse) from Debian experimental (contrib)

2012-09-02 Thread Martin Erik Werner
Public bug reported:

Please sync redeclipse 1.3.1-1 (multiverse) from Debian experimental
(contrib)

Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception:
This new version of Red Eclipse breaks compatibility with version 1.2, such
that 1.2 clients will be unable to play on 1.3.1 servers.

It would be good if the version in Ubuntu was compatible with the majority of
current servers, allowing people to find players for multiplayer games.

Changelog entries since current quantal version 1.2-3:

redeclipse (1.3.1-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
  * XZ compression for orig tarball
  * No more icon conversion in build
- Drop ImageMagick build-dependency
  * Dropped debian/patches/build-with-ldflags.patch, upstreamed
  * Add unversioned lib dependency alternatives

[Bug 1045145] [NEW] FFe: Sync redeclipse-data 1.3.1-1 (multiverse) from Debian experimental (non-free)

2012-09-02 Thread Martin Erik Werner
Public bug reported:

Please sync redeclipse-data 1.3.1-1 (multiverse) from Debian
experimental (non-free)

Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception:

This is a dependency of redeclipse 1.3.1-1:
This new version of Red Eclipse breaks compatibility with version 1.2, such
that 1.2 clients will be unable to play on 1.3.1 servers.

It would be good if the version in Ubuntu was compatible with the majority of
current servers, allowing people to find players for multiplayer games.

Changelog entries since current quantal version 1.2-1:

redeclipse-data (1.3.1-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * New upstream development snapshot
  * XZ compression for orig tarball
  * Standards-Version 3.9.3
- Set final DEP-5 Format: link

[Bug 1244983] Re: Amount of life option is missing

2013-10-27 Thread Martin Erik Werner
The amount of life is set on a per-player basis in the options, which is
similar to how it worked in the original LIERO 1.33 as far as I know.

For me on a Debian system, this option is present and works in
lierolibre 0.5.

Does this not work in your case?

[Bug 1244987] Re: Liero is initialized in windowed mode

2013-10-27 Thread Martin Erik Werner
lierolibre is initialized in windowed mode by design, as per
http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Games/Upstream/

###
It is recommended that the first time a game starts, it starts in windowed
mode. Subsequent times the game should use the mode the user selected the
previous time.
###

There are indeed currently no menu options to toggle fullscreen, nor
does the game save the previous state for next time (which is arguably
something that should be implemented).

For now, the intended method for switching screen size and fullscreen is
by using the F# keys, as described in the manpage:

###
* Fullscreen, x2, x3 and x4 scaling via the F5, F6, F7 and F8 keys
###

Does these keys work as intended for you?

2013-10-28 Thread Martin Erik Werner
** Summary changed:

- Liero is initialized in windowed mode
+ screen scale is not persistent, nor accessible via options menu

** Description changed:

+ It would be good to make the screen scaling and fullscreen state a
+ persistent option, and also make these available via the the gui menu
+ rather than only via F# keys.

+ Original description:

The game is initialized in windowed mode, and there isn't any option to

[Bug 1159569] [NEW] FFe: Sync redeclipse-data 1.4-1 (multiverse) from Debian experimental (non-free)

2013-03-24 Thread Martin Erik Werner
Public bug reported:

Please sync redeclipse-data 1.4-1 (multiverse) from Debian experimental
(non-free)

Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception:
This is a dependency of redeclipse 1.4-1:
This new version of Red Eclipse breaks compatibility with version 1.3.1, such
that 1.3.1 clients will be unable to play on 1.4 servers.

It would be good if the version in Ubuntu was compatible with the majority of
current servers, allowing people to find players for multiplayer games.

In addition, upstream tends to only really support the latest version.

Changelog entries since current raring version 1.3.1-1:

redeclipse-data (1.4-1) experimental; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
  * Drop dpkg Pre-Depends (upgrades from old Ubuntu versions not relevant)
  * Added more verbose notice why package is in non-free
  * Include license.txt files, in favour of maintaining data tree identical

Many thanks for approving!

I was messing about with getting a raring machine up, and just to note:
I've tested that the package installs, runs, and works to connect to and play
online with on a current Ubuntu Raring i386 LiveCD, based on builds from a
cowbuilder-dist raring i386.

[Bug 1160832] [NEW] FFe: Sync redeclipse 1.4-2 (multiverse) from Debian experimental (contrib)

2013-03-27 Thread Martin Erik Werner
Public bug reported:

Please sync redeclipse 1.4-2 (multiverse) from Debian experimental
(contrib)

Explanation of FeatureFreeze exception:
There is a bug (combination of upstream and packaging) in the current
redeclipse-server package which renders it incapable of starting unless
redeclipse-data is installed along with it. This issue has been fixed upstream
in http://redeclipse.net/svn/5503 and http://redeclipse.net/svn/5504 which are
included as patches in 1.4-2.

It's an unfortunate miss to slip though at a time like this, and the
blame is mine exclusively.

The fix has been confirmed to build in a cowbuilder-dist of raring (log
attached).
The fix has been tested in Debian Sid/experimental.
I intend to test in an Ubuntu raring instance shortly, if this is deemed
required for the FFe to be accepted.

Changelog entries since current raring version 1.4-1:

redeclipse (1.4-2) experimental; urgency=low

  * Fix broken server-only installs
- Add upstream server install patch
- Add upstream patch enabling the server to start without data

I have tested the update in a raring liveCD and confirmed that:

* The server now works as intended without the data package.
* The Client still starts and is able to connect online
* The server can be set up for a LAN game and the server can connect to it (I
cannot test server fully online due to restrictive firewall)

[Bug 893559] Re: Installing pango-graphite breaks display manager

2012-06-23 Thread Martin Erik Werner
The fix for pango-graphite (update to new upstream version) is only
added in Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) and later. Hence yes, this bug does
remain in 10.04 (Lucid) currently.

I'll go ahead and try to push the crash-fixing changes as a SRU for
Lucid.

[Bug 893559] Re: Installing pango-graphite breaks display manager

2012-06-25 Thread Martin Erik Werner
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 540035 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/540035

I've tested this on a virtual kvm-machine with lucid, and confirmed
that:

1. pango-graphite + ttf-sil-doulos disables GDM login (doesn't show up,
as note in this bug).

2. Upgrading to the 0.9.3-0.1 version that's available in Debian stable
fixes the issues in lucid, seemingly completely.

I'm marking this bug as a duplicate of Bug #540035 and noting down the
impact it has on lucid, hopefully it should be possible to sync the
version from Debian stable to lucid.

[Bug 540035] Re: pango-graphite causes several applications to crash

2012-06-25 Thread Martin Erik Werner
This bug affect Ubuntu 10.04 in that installing pango-graphite plus ttf-
sil-doulos (and some other ttf-sil-*) causes GDM to not be able to auto-
login nor present the user login screen.

Since this is quite a serious issue, it would suggest that pango-
graphite 0.9.3-0.1 was synced from Debian stable in order to fix this
bug.

The full upstream diff is attached above and should hopefully qualify as
an upstream microrelease according to the SRU guidelines.

A reduced version with the autotools diff removed is attached above as
u01_crasher-fix.patch

If this diff still turns out to be too intrusive to qualify for SRU I'd
suggest removing the pango-graphite package completely from Lucid
(specifically), since it there appears to do more harm than good...

[Bug 540035] Re: pango-graphite causes several applications to crash

2012-06-25 Thread Martin Erik Werner
The linked branch lp:~arand/ubuntu/lucid/pango-graphite/suggested-sru-
deb-sync contains the suggested changes for the SRU.

The corresponding orig.tar.gz can be retrieved via
dget --download-only
http://cdn.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/pango-graphite/pango-graphite_0.9.3-0.1.dsc

The diff is easiest examined via the above attached diffs (and not via
bzr diff or debdiff) since the cdbs packaging has a tarball-in-yo-
tarball format.

I'm subscribing ubuntu-sru for judgement.

eMcE:
Yes, that might work in some cases.
It would be advisable though, to first do the grepping and then review the
result before trying to reinstall everything from it, I have a feeling things
could go even worse if one is not being careful there...

Also worth noting is that any automatically-installed states will have
been lost, so that's something to keep in mind as well...

[Bug 540035] Re: pango-graphite causes several applications to crash

2012-08-09 Thread Martin Erik Werner
I've tested and confirmed that the lucid-proposed update for pango-
graphite (0.9.2-3.1ubuntu0.1) works in a kvm instance of Ubuntu 10.04:

* GDM and login works
* No visible regressions in firefox
* Doulos font (ttf-sil-doulos) seems to work as it should in OpenOffice (just
tested selecting and writing)

[Bug 1034148] Re: redeclipse: security issues with transmitted map cfgs

2012-08-10 Thread Martin Erik Werner
Tyler Hicks: the pocket and changelog should already be fixed, I've
added two commits updating the maintainer and tweaking the patch header,
hopefully it's all good now?

I have built and upgraded redeclipse successfully on precise.

I have also tested starting the game, playing it briefly, and checked
that saving a text file via the standard options-autoexec.cfg
texteditor works.

I have NOT tested any proof-of-concept confirming that the security fix
itself does what it is intended to do. I have only done tests which
would indicate that the package works without regressions.

Removing the quantal branch since it has already been synced from
Debian.

In the meantime, I'd suggest using the 1.5.1 packages provided by
