[Bug 147617] Re: Dual boot with Gutsy Gibbon BETA and WinXP

2007-10-02 Thread PhilB
This has also afflicted the desktop install I did of Gutsy Beta - I've
seen this reported as far back as one of the tribe releases but I can't
see that anyone bothered to report it here.

sda has my windows install
sdb was resized and had gutsy installed on it

Grub failed to detect the windows install on sda when it was being
configured by the installer. Unlike others who have reported similar
issues, my windows install really is intact:

Disk /dev/sda: 160.0 GB, 1600 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19452 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0xca26ca26

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 19451 1562401267 HPFS/NTFS

Disk /dev/sdb: 160.0 GB, 1600 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19452 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0xcaadcaad

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 1 1186695313613+ 7 HPFS/NTFS
/dev/sdb2 * 11867 1913758404307+ 83 Linux
/dev/sdb3 19138 19452 2530237+ 5 Extended
/dev/sdb5 19138 19452 2530206 82 Linux swap / Solaris

This is a Dell XPS 700 with 4GB ram, Windows XP MCE installed, and RAID
turned off.

I've attached my grub menu.lst, but it's really not exciting; it has
what you'd expect, except no windows option was added.

[Bug 147617] Re: Dual boot with Gutsy Gibbon BETA and WinXP

2007-10-02 Thread PhilB
I just reinstalled using the daily build from 02/10/07 and just
installed onto the existing partitions (with a format). Windows on
hd(0,0)/sda1 is still not in the menu.lst.

Does grub not bother looking for other operating systems if you don't do
a resize?

[Bug 278010] [NEW] Evolution no longer displays any message

2008-10-04 Thread philb
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Hello

Evolution no longer displays any message. The message display area is Blank.
I have checked the following:
- Online: OK
- Display ALL MESSAGES: OK

It happened after a SEARCH.
All folders are Blank.

I got an error message mentioning the Root folder of the Evolution messages.
This message is no longer displayed.
Is there any way to regenerate the evolution file?

Thanks

[Bug 644898] Re: required kernel toshiba support not enabled

2015-07-27 Thread PhilB
Sadly I too am looking for some guidance on getting this modified driver
to compile in 15.04, though the list of errors has grown substantially.
Trying to install the raring toshiba-acpi-fix from @keks9n's PPA results
in some pretty scary messages:
