This bug keeps on happening. Its been happening since 40 days. That is when i upgraded from maverick to NATTY. It happens on kernels 2.6.36, 2.6.38, the generic ubuntu kernel too. I tested it with 5 different kernels. Therefore im sure its not a kernel problem. Moreover, it used to happen a lot b4 the last 2 compiz updates. Now it happens only twice or 3 times when i log in to the system nd then it takes a long time to happen again. Also if i logout nd log in again, the same story repeats where compiz crashes 2 or 3 times and then takes a very long time to crash . I (thought) i had this bug too. When i press Alt+Fn+delete/sysrq+R i got gnome-screenshot all over the place. When i press Fn+Alt+delete/sysrq+R i got the sysrq event So (for me) the problem isn't the combination itself, but the order i have to press them. Maybe the same problem applies to zorblek. [Bug 225959] [NEW] Ubuntu LTS 8.04 kernel 2.6.24.16 PERMANTLY breaks BCM4312 on HP dv6000
Public bug reported: Install of Hardy Heron 8.04 32bit breaks HP dv6000 notebooks with on board wireless LAN cards, BCM4312. The initial install was flawless. Heron installed restricted drivers for Broadcom and everything worked fine..for a while. Then everything went South. The system worked for 14 hours before breaking Wireless beyond repair. Nothing is detected any more; no blue light on the PC wireless switch, no wireless connections in Network Managernot even a modem for an air-card. This is a dual-boot with XP;... Wireless hardware is no longer even listed in XP's hardware manager. There is no wireless listed in dmesg. No wireless extensions detected is the end result. I can no longer use a wireless USB dongle or my Sierra 875 Air card even when booting into XP. I'm not sure if any of this can be reversed. I'm fairly sure that my laptop is trashed from this Beta.
