[Bug 717587] [NEW] package gdm 2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm My upgrade was incomplete due to this error. I'm now attempting to fix it, as it may have been caused by the lack of space in my hard-disk. Also the installation of MySQL-server-5.1 package(upgrade) took a long time with no progress, so I killed the Update window using 'xkill' then when I tried to run update again. It showed some error related to unavailability of 'lock' at /var/lib/dpkg/ So, I remove that file by using sudo rm. Then the update manager suggested to fix the broken updates first by running- sudo dpkg --configure -a So, I did that. Also it suggested me to do- sudo apt-get install -f I did that as well. After that I ran the upgrade and atb the end of it I got the message(posting only the last part)- ' Errors were encountered while processing: gdm man-db linux-headers-2.6.32-29-generic flashplugin-installer opera mysql-server-5.1 linux-headers-generic mysql-server ' ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: gdm 2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-28.55-generic 2.6.32.27+drm33.12 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-28-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: wl Architecture: i386 Date: Sat Feb 12 12:03:55 2011 ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx - Beta i386 (20100406.1) SourcePackage: gdm Title: package gdm 2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-package i386 lucid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/717587 Title: package gdm 2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 717587] Re: package gdm 2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
I freed up space in my laptop, restarted the computer and ran- sudo apt-get install -f The Update was completed and package gdm was updated correctly. I think that the problem was with the lack of space. The downloaded update files was nearly 165MB( since, I haven't run the updates lately). I had only nearly 400-500MB remaining in my hard-disk, it didn't occur to me that to install all the packages when uncompressed it may take up more space. It would be nice if some sort of error message is included while updating/upgrading to warn the user of low-disk space, for the sake of newbies. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/717587 Title: package gdm 2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 989440] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 freezes after restart
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 12.04 freezes after restart, sometimes just at the end of restart and sometimes while booting up. Just plain freeze-up, with no error/warning shown whatsoever. It happens all too often, that it has become annoying. I'm not sure if this is a lightdm issue. [Bug 986035] [NEW] Authenication breaks after reboot in Ubuntu 12.04 Beta
Public bug reported: Hi Guys, I’m using Likewise Open(likewise-open 6.1.0.406-0ubuntu5) In Ubuntu 12.04 Beta2 version. In early versions of Ubutnu and Likewise Open, I could connect to windows active directory and the connection used to be remembered even after a reboot. But when I used this particular version and also even the most newest one(pbis-open-7.0.0.867.linux.x86.deb.sh) which I had downloaded from the likewise-open site, the reported error occurs( authentication breaks after reboot). Possible Lead to the Solution: But I have a got a lead to what it might be. The connection to the domain still exists, but I’m unable to login as a domain user. But if I try browsing into a Samba share folder in Nautilus, and I give the login credentials there(domain username, password), I get to open the files. And now If I choose to switch user, and try to login as a Windows domain user, I’m able to login. After reboot again the authentication is broken. :( ** Affects: likewise-open (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: 12.04 beta likewise-open precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/986035 Title: Authenication breaks after reboot in Ubuntu 12.04 Beta To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/likewise-open/+bug/986035/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1573409] Re: Grub install fails at end of Ubuntu 16.04 installation
Background info: I already have a UEFI based windows 8.1 instance installed in C drive(/dev/sda1), so I am trying for a dual boot installation, which works fine with Ubuntu 15.10 live instance. As 16.04 installation failed, I removed the USB drive and restarted, then I got the screen as seen in Image1.jpg, attached with this. Then I tried to boot into 16.04 live USB, it gave me a kernel panic which you can see in Image2.jpg, attached with this. I tried installing Ubuntu 15.10 again, it completed successfully, and Grub also installed successfully. I then checked md5 hash of 16.04 image, it was ok, so the 16.04 image is fine. I tried installing 16.04 again using another bootable USB image that I created from the iso image, to be sure that the issue is not with the USB drive. This time also the installation failed with same error. After this error if I restart and try to boot from the live USB, it fails with a kernel panic. This was same, during the both times I tried, so I had to use 15.10 bootable USB, which started up normally without and kernel panic, I tried installing Boot fixer in the live instance, and fix grub, I followed the steps, as I understand it could not fix GRUB in EFI mode, so it went for non-EFI installation, which succeeded, but this failed to detect and list the Windows 8.1 UEFI based installation that I already have. So, this fix also failed, so I again booted into 15.10 live instance and installed it again, after formatting the current non-working 16.04 instance, it completed successfully, I did a restart, GRUB was showing all entries for Ubuntu and also for the Windows 8.1 too I tried booting to Windows 8.1, that also worked fine. I booted back to Ubuntu 15.10, updated repository indexes, was shown option to upgrade, upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 from there, this is how I got into 16.04, with a working GRUB instllation. Looks like there is some regression issue with GRUB installation stage of the Ubiquity installer, in case of a dual boot EFI based scenario. ** Attachment added: "After 16.04 install fail, 16.04 live USB drive removed" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1573409/+attachment/4644575/+files/Image1.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1573409 Title: Grub install fails at end of Ubuntu 16.04 installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1573409/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1511735] Re: libnl: fail to bind() netlink sockets
Looks like the fix is in place, I had downloaded the following packages manually from packages.ubuntu.com, trusty-updates: - libnl-3-200_3.2.21-1ubuntu1.1_amd64.deb - libnl-genl-3-200_3.2.21-1ubuntu1.1_amd64.deb - libnl-route-3-200_3.2.21-1ubuntu1.1_amd64.deb Has to install it using sudo dpkg -i, as Ubuntu software center was not allowing it due to the dependency relation between these packages. Anyhow after installing these packages and doing a sudo service network-manager restart enabled my network manager, previously with the broken packages, it was resulting in network-manager crashing, if I tried to restart the service, but after these packages were installed the network-manager worked normally. Though technically a apt-get upgrade and reboot should work, it won't work; as without the network-manager there is no easy way to connect to the internet, so for most users they'll have to download the packages manually and install like I had to do. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1511735 Title: libnl: fail to bind() netlink sockets To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libnl3/+bug/1511735/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
