2008-06-30 Thread Scott Kitterman
Debian has REVU in their version of dput. Rather than carry an Ubuntu
unique change for the new URL, Sarah asked Debian to update theirs.
This is eminently sensible. If you still have questions, please ask an
actual question.

[Bug 243128] Re: MIR for Sendmail (libmilter)

2008-07-01 Thread Scott Kitterman
I would guess it's possible, but I don't think it is the best approach.
I did discuss this with pitti on IRC and he thought it would be the best
way to do it.

We would have to essentially repackage libmilter from scratch as nearly
as I can determine and would always run the risk of sendmail and
libmilter being out of sync. It would cause a significant maintenance
burden both for core-dev and motu.

SInce intrepid has 2.2.1-1ubuntu1, hardy cannot have the same version.
It should be 2.2.1-1ubuntu0.1. I'd appreciate it if you'd delete the
Hardy PPA package and then re-upload it as 2.2.1-1ubuntu0.1~ppa1 so that
if we can get this published, users who install from the PPA will
upgrade to the official package.

Are there any changes needed to the version in Intrepid to make it work

[Bug 247409] Re: Python-dns does not randomize TID causing DNS poisoning risk

2008-07-25 Thread Scott Kitterman
That should do it

Upstream reviewed a previous version of this patch (some of it comes
from their CVS repository, but they only did TID randomization, not
source port randomization). This version addresses their comment, but I
haven't heard back from them on it.

I tested this on Dapper (which has a kernel that does not randomize
ports) and captured DNS data using ethereal and observed that the source
port and TID changed in an apparently random fashion each time.

[Bug 252380] Re: new upstream version emesene 1.0.1

2008-07-29 Thread Scott Kitterman
For Intrepid, updating to 1.0.1 seems sensible. I'm trying to
understand what "The result is that in the near future the emesene
package will be completely unusable." is about. We ought to do an SRU
for Hardy for that, whatever it is.

[Bug 260062] Re: Please sync ttf-sil-scheherazade 1.001-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main).

2008-08-23 Thread Scott Kitterman
The current problem with this is that the orig.tar.gz md5sums are
different between Debian and Ubuntu so this can't actually be sync'ed.
I looked into syncing this earlier. I don't think that a fakesync is
worth the effort at this point because the binaries are essentially the
same. My suggestion is either fakesync later if there's a significant
bugfix in the Debian package or wait for a new upstream version to do a
real sync.

[Bug 261840] [NEW] Please pocket copy KDE 3.5.10 from hardy-backports to hardy-updates

2008-08-27 Thread Scott Kitterman
Public bug reported:

Please leave comments about success or regressions with the KDE 3.5.10
packages here. No need to comment about existing bugs not fixed (please
don't).

arts-1.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1, kdeaccessibility-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1,
kdeaddons-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1, kdeadmin-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1,
kdeartwork-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1, kdebase-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1,
kdebindings-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1, kdeedu-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1,
kdegames-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1, kdegraphics-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1,
kdelibs-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1, kdemultimedia-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1,
kdenetwork-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1, kdepim-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1,

kdeutils-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1, kdevelop-3.5.3-0ubuntu1~hardy1, and
kdewebdev-3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy1

Note: kdeartwork will probably have to stay in backports since it picked
up a new build-dep that is in Universe.

[Bug 261840] Re: Please pocket copy KDE 3.5.10 from hardy-backports to hardy-updates

2008-08-27 Thread Scott Kitterman
I've installed every single non-dbg package and it's installable and so
far working without any regressions.

[Bug 261698] Re: Please add UFW profile integration with postfix

2008-08-27 Thread Scott Kitterman
Title for Port 587 should be Submission.

I understand all that (I think). I'm arguing that having the profile
open ports that may or may not be in use (neither 465 nor 587 are
enabled by default) is not optimal. I think this should just open port
25.

[Bug 261853] Re: After upgrade to kde-3.5.10: Button to access hidden icons of system tray is missing

2008-08-27 Thread Scott Kitterman
It's visible on mouseover for me with 3.5.10. Did you look for that?
