[Bug 961056] [NEW] CTRL-1 gives 1, CTRL-3 gives ESC
Public bug reported: To switch workspaces I have shortcuts CTRL-1, CTRL-2, CTRL-3, etc. This used to work fine until recently. But now CTRL-1 gives 1 (ASCII 0x31), and CTRL-3 gives 0x1B (ASCII ESC), CTRL-4 gives 0x1C, ... CTRL-8 gives 0x7F. Here is how you can show the problem. * open a gnome-terminal on workspace 1 * type CTRL-1 (we're already on workspace 1, so there is no switch) * see character 1 being inserted * open a gnome-terminal on workspace 8 * type a few random characters * type CTRL-8 (we're already on workspace 8, so there is no switch) * see how characters are deleted Of course you can use xev too to see what XLookupString makes of the key presses. For completeness this is what I see: CTRL-1 = 0x31 CTRL-2 = 0x00 CTRL-3 = 0x1B CTRL-4 = 0x1C CTRL-5 = 0x1D CTRL-6 = 0x1E CTRL-7 = 0x1F CTRL-8 = 0x7F CTRL-9 = 0x39 CTRL-0 = 0x30 I doesn't matter what kind of keyboard is used. (Note that I have a mac keyboard, but I have tried a regular PC keyboard too.) I've created a new user account to eliminate possible mess up of some user setting. Perhaps this is a unity problem. [Bug 1042211] Re: [quantal] [regression] [i915] Corrupted display, desktop and menus don't repaint correctly using Mesa 9.0 (8.0.4 works)
The i915 is giving me lots of problems. After upgrading to 12.10 I had a blank screen after logging in (using Unity). There was a kernel BUG at drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915_gem.c:3084! in my syslog, so I first upgraded to 3.6.3 as suggested in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1058546 and that got rid of the BUG message, but still a blank screen. Then I upgraded unity (using ppa:unity-team/staging), and know I have a working screen. Nevertheless it keeps bugging me with a popup about a hangcheck timer GPU. I forgot which bug#. [Bug 1176652] [NEW] 40grub2 gets confused for menuentry generated in other languages
Public bug reported: The script in 40grub2 has some code to skip certain entries from grub.cfg. It goes like this: elif echo $title | grep -q '(on /dev/[^)]*)$'; then log Skipping entry '$title': log appears to be an automatic reference taken from another menu.lst ignore_item=1 (( Notice the on )) However, if the grub.cfg was created on a system with a non standard LANG the grep does not find the match. [Bug 1024290] Re: Indicator shows Guest instead of real name when using nis
In brief term, you first need a NIS environment. That is, a network with a NIS server and clients that are configured to use NIS for passwd and group, etc. What you mostly see in NIS environments is that filesystems are NFS mounts, for example /home or /usr/users or whatever. Possibly you can do this all on one machine, for testing purpose. [Bug 1293024] Re: package doesn't provide c++ library
For the time being I have created my own package. I started with git clone of git://anonscm.debian.org/collab-maint/libstdc++-arm-none-eabi.git and commit a4128a0. Next I applied a patch to change BASE-VER in FULL-VER. Maybe this is not exactly how it should be done, but I simply couldn't find another way. After installing libstc++-arm-none-eabi-newlib (4.8.2-16+1) I'm getting: fatal error: cstddef: No such file or directory The reason is a mismatch between the compiler looking in /usr/lib/gcc/arm-none-eabi/4.8.2/../../../arm-none-eabi/include/c++/4.8.2 and that the libstc++ package installed the files in /usr/include/newlib/c++/4.8 That looks totally off but it is only 4.8 that should have been 4.8.2 For the curious among us. $ ls -l /usr/lib/gcc/arm-none-eabi/4.8.2/../../../arm-none-eabi/include lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 43 Apr 21 22:54 /usr/lib/gcc/arm-none-eabi/4.8.2/../../../arm-none-eabi/include - /etc/alternatives/gcc-arm-none-eabi-include $ ls -l /etc/alternatives/gcc-arm-none-eabi-include lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 Apr 21 22:54 /etc/alternatives/gcc-arm-none-eabi-include - /usr/include/newlib $ ls -l /usr/include/newlib/c++ total 4 drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 4096 Apr 27 22:17 4.8 As a quick workaround I created a symlink # ln -s 4.8 /usr/include/newlib/c++/4.8.2 Which of the two packages is configured incorrectly? gcc-arm-none-eabi or libstdc++-arm-none-eabi-newlib? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1293024 Title: package doesn't provide c++ library To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-arm-none-eabi/+bug/1293024/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1791325] Re: freeipa server needs read access /var/lib/krb5kdc
There was a discussion on the freeipa users list and Alexander Bokovoy was kind enough to explain what was happening. "We need access to the KDC's public certificate in case we are dealing with a KDC certificate issued by a local certmonger (self-signed) which is not trusted by the machine. You can read https://www.freeipa.org/page/V4/Kerberos_PKINIT for details. A short version is: When you install 4.5 with --no-pkinit, the installer will generate self-signed certificate for PKINIT. This certificate is only used and trusted by IPA Web UI running on the same server to obtain an anonymous ticket. That anonymous PKINIT is required right now to enable two-factor authentication login to web UI because since FreeIPA 4.5 we cannot use HTTP service keytab anymore: FreeIPA framework lost access to the keytab due to privilege separation work we did (read https://vda.li/en/docs/freeipa-debug-privsep/ for details) Since your KDC PKINIT certificate might be issued by a local self-signed certmonger 'CA' in case you are not using integrated FreeIPA CA, we have to be able to trust *that* public KDC certificate when running 'kinit -n', thus we need access to it. " He also suggested that this should be changed in Ubuntu. If the directory /var/lib/krb5kdc becomes readable (perhaps chmod 711) then it would solve this issue. The directory /var/lib/krb5kdc is part of the package krb5-kdc. ** Also affects: krb5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791325 Title: freeipa server needs read access /var/lib/krb5kdc To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/freeipa/+bug/1791325/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is an extra bridge for testing purpose. root@rapper:~# cat /etc/netplan/91-test-bridges.yaml network: version: 2 renderer: networkd bridges: # the key name is the name for virtual (created) interfaces; # no ‘match’ or ‘set-name’ attributes are allowed. testbr0: addresses: - 10.82.0.1/24 # gateway4: 192.168.178.1 At startup there are no containers using this bridge, and that causes the 2 minute timeout of systemd-networkd-wait-online root@rapper:~# networkctl IDX LINK TYPE OPERATIONAL SETUP 1 lo loopback carrier unmanaged 2 enp2s0 ether carrier configured 3 testbr0 ether no-carrier configuring 4 br0 ether routableconfigured root@rapper:~# /lib/systemd/systemd-networkd-wait-online --timeout=20 --interface testbr0 ignoring: lo Event loop failed: Connection timed out I couldn't find a way to skip my test bridge for this online check, and still keep it controlled by networkd. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1779340 Title: systemd-networkd-wait-online.service Failed to start Wait for Network to be Configured with bridge To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1779340/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

So, I don't think it's a network manager bug. It's the thing that's presenting the screen sharing dialog. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1769206 Title: In admin panel "Sharing - Screen Sharing". [Bug 1769206] Re: In admin panel "Sharing - Screen Sharing". Dialog box, (bottom "Network" part of it) says there is "No networks selected for sharing". (Nothing to select) Server don't detect actual
It may be that @PG found a workaround, that doesn't mean the problem has gone away. If the network is managed by the system administrator, then the screen sharing dialog doesn't see the network. This is rather unfortunate. I don't want the user to be able to change the network, but I do want the user to be able to share the screen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1769206 Title: In admin panel "Sharing - Screen Sharing". [Bug 1872185] Re: Netplan not connecting bridge with static IP
Same situation for me. I installed Ubuntu 20.04 (beta) on a new server and used the exact same netplan setup as on an Ubuntu 18.04 server. At startup it hangs for a long time at "Wait for Network to be Configured" which never succeeds. Eventually I can login, but the network did not get up. This is quite annoying since it is now impossible to remotely reboot. Well, I can reboot, but then the system remains offline. :-( Indeed "systemctl restart systemd-networkd" completes without error, and the bridge is up. To me it is not clear whether this is a bug in netplan or in systemd- networkd or in the combination of the two. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872185 Title: Netplan not connecting bridge with static IP To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/netplan.io/+bug/1872185/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
