Was there a 2.6.25? I tracked Intrepid since before the Alpha, and only
 have 2.6.24-16, 2.6.24-18, and 2.6.26-2 installed, but I didn't update
every day. In any case, all these boot fine for me in Virtualbox 1.5.6
 OSE in Hardy.

My bad, I thought it had 2.6.25 but I guess it's running some 2.6.26 RC.

It seems your installation has started on 2.6.24 and then been upgraded.
I there anyone who has done a successfull install boot using alpha-1?

It isn't a kernel bug - I can boot and get the gdm login in a VMware
workstation VM running intrepid i386 Ubuntu, but after I enter my
user/password, the GUI hangs with the brown screen. I have tested
kubuntu Intrepid alpha 1 and had no issues booting or logging in to the
GUI. This suggests that there is a bug with the version of Gnome that is
packaged for intrepid alpha 1, when run in a VM.

2008-07-02 Thread Evan
I installed Hardy in VirtualBox and then upgraded to alpha-1. I haven't had
any problems. My kernel is currently 2.6.26-2.

Guest Additions also seem to work normally.

Yup, I installed Hardy and upgraded. At the time there were no installer
images yet.

Similarly, Alpha 1 doesn't work for me in vmware. I get to gdm, but
logging in results in a frozen brown screen in both i386 and amd64.

Thanks,

Xubuntu Ibex Alpha 1 on Vmware Fusion (OS X) works for me.

Have either of you filed a bug report on your troubles?
