You are not helping, so much as scaring the guy. I'm also worried that you're wasting your own time. I'm sure you could have chosen one proper solution, if you knew the solution at all. Perhaps you should be asking for his lspci or something, since I know that at least two of links above are useless, because they don't use B43 series, and that's Ankur's chipset. Ankur came on the list after I failed to get his wifi working in our workshop. And trust me, we saw a lot of links. Not everyone is an Ubuntu expert, we're new users. My vista(I hav dual boot) is quite fine with the wifi available but my ubuntu does not hav the wifi settings installed as I hav installed ubuntu last week only. Plz provide some solution for the above problem of setting wifi in ubuntu in my Dell Inspiron 1525. Did you try clicking on the network icon in top panel and see if it shows any wireless networks? If it doesn't then try changing settings directly in System - Administration - Network. Onkar -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in

So 1. is there a way i can copy my updates /upgrades to keep them for someone else to use. You can use AptonCD which creates an ISO image with all the deb files so that any later time you can use AptonCD to put back the deb files so that no need to download files, this will be a kind of repository of only your required packages. 2. Can i make a copy / back up so that if i want to redo my machine i can apply these updates / upgrades without having to get on to the net again. Same answer as above You can also setup apt-proxy, so when one PC updates, the others can then update from that PC. 3. Amusing synaptic to download these updates / upgrades - so where would these updated files be stored can i just copy individual files from there. /var/cache/apt/archives --all fully downloaded packages /var/cache/apt/archives/partial -- all partially downloaded packages look forward to your suggestions /advice thanks ram -- Partner Manager - Central Asia Mobile: +91 98202 82922 www.ubuntu.com - Linux for Human Beings -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in mallikarjun -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
