I managed to make camera-app to work.

I uninstalled it. Then under Privacy settings noted an unchecked item with
no icon under Camera, along with checked ones (Tagger and Level) with
normal icon.

Checked it, then installed camera app.

Hope that helps,

[Ubuntu-phone] Landing team 14.10.15

2015-10-14 Thread Łukasz 'sil2100' Zemczak
Hello everyone,

The (hopefully) final OTA-7 re-spin is in progress with the two blocking
issue fixed and changes released. Big thanks to everyone involved! Once
the image is built QA will perform sanity and delta testing on the
generated images and if everything is ok, the image will then go to
manufacturers for a final check. ETA for release: first half of next week.

We know that some developers were a bit concerned with the short
feature-landing timeframe for OTA-8 - it might be a bit tight, but this
way there will be generally more time for getting rid of all the
roughness around the edges on our images. Let's see how it goes.

From other news: QA has resumed normal landings. For instance we had a
new mir released to the overlay today (and copied to wily as well to fix
the FTBFS). That being said, currently both the QA trello bot and the
other landing team tools (like commitlog generators) are down due to
infrastructure issues - we hope things get fixed soon.

Yeah, and it looks to me like nearly 2 weeks for features is a tad
short, and will put even more pressure on everyone (which might result
in rushing changes in that are not quite ready yet). I’m questioning
the schedule, not QA’s performance, you guys are doing a great job of
validating our changes with few resources.

Cheers,

 Olivier

Firefox has its own implementation of WebRTC. The Ubuntu Touch browser
uses oxide as a web engine, which is based on chromium, which also has
a WebRTC implementation. We simply need to enable it in oxide, see
https://launchpad.net/bugs/1505746.

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] RollApp service not work with Ubuntu Phone web browser

2015-10-14 Thread Phil
As a temporary measure, it's easy to write your own web-app wrapper which
overrides the UA, and install it locally, if you work out all the domains that
the app needs to use - I've done this with the Twitter site so that people can
get the full web version, rather than the mobile version, as that offers
certain facilities (e.g. list management) not available on the mobile one.

 It looks like a
simple UA override for rollapp.com is enough to get it
working. I just tested and was able to launch
 gimp and libreoffice
 writer in
 webbrowser-app on desktop.
 I’ve re-opened
 https://launchpad.net/bugs/1490412
 (which you
 originally filed) to track
 the issue.

As for OTA-8 - we have finalized the release dates for the new
milestone. The current timeline is:

October 27th - Feature and String Freeze

Given that QA is still busy with the validation of OTA7, that leaves
us with less than 2 weeks to land new features. It’s a pretty short

We resumed landings yesterday and started with the long standing silo
55, then there are 2 unity8/mir silos, then yours. It leaves nearly 2
weeks for features then 2 weeks for bug fixes.

JB.

November 10th - Final Freeze, First Release Candidate
November 18th - Planned release date

The timeline can change, of course, but this is our initial target for
OTA-8.

I can't say if this is set in stone, or when it's going to happen, but
we're likely to require the icons to be pre-shaped when uploading them
to the store (and/or shape them on upload). They will then look better
on desktop. As for legacy desktop icons, we'll need to have that
discussion sooner rather than later.

I kind of take the view that if we are doing something disruptive, it
should be to achieve something better. The desktop transparent icons fit
on anything, work with any background and look great. If the phone ones
are going to be on a solid roundrect then absolutely they shouldn't be
pre-shaped (because everyone will do them with a different corner radius
and the antialiasing/translucency on the corners will almost certainly
be done wrong most of the time.) Perhaps if new icons were SVG with
tagged layers they could generate raster images at different
resolutions, with and without the background layer. Another image format
that supports layers is OpenRaster,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenRaster which could be used to hold an
icon plus a background for it to sit on, which could be conditionally
rendered in different contexts.

There is no plan to port firefox to ubuntu touch, that would be a huge
amount of work and doesn’t fit our plans.
