OSMTouch is not in your list, but it is on the database. Do you have
this app installed on your system?

[Ubuntu-phone] Questions about Framework versions

2016-07-28 Thread Michel Renon

Hi,

There is already the (fabulous) "Ubuntu touch version decoder ring" :
http://reqorts.qa.ubuntu.com/reports/qa/touch-version-decoder-ring/

But is there a list of correspondences between SDK (or Framework)
version and OTA ?

ex : SDK 15.04.4 <--> OTA11

Maybe it could be added in the existing page :
https://developer.ubuntu.com/api/apps/qml

Second question :
is there an API to get the SDK version from the code ? (c++ or qml)
something like :

var version = get_sdk_version();
// version = "15.04.4"

Cheers,

Michel

The records are in a sqlite db at
/home/phablet/.local/share/UbuntuLocationService/trust.db so it is possible
to manually remove the records for apps that were uninstalled but otherwise
this is benign and can be ignored. We will attempt to correct existing dbs
with the fix above.

I see, but for whatever reason I didn't notice this behaviour before
OTA-12 in my phone.

Looking at trust.db now but I'm not able to decide which lines I should
remove. See my reply to

Thank you for your info.

You can find which application it is by searching the trust database

The db is /home/phablet/.local/share/UbuntuLocationService/trust.db
it's an sqlite3 database.

When you're connected to the device as phablet run something like
sqlite3 ~/.local/share/UbuntuLocationService/trust.db \
"select * from requests;"

And check which entries would match with the empty lines.

Hi, I've checked the db but I can't draw any conclusion because the

[Ubuntu-phone] Bluetooth

2016-07-28 Thread Marcin Xc
I just added a comment to the bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1435040/comments/140

As i wrote the problem with the bluetooth may not be a bluetooth problem itself
but the way the device displays and stores devices. I also attached some
screenshots as next comments.
"Today I tried with OTA12. Actually nothing changed BUT!!! I see the problem
somewhere else! I tried to pair my phone with a few car audio systems. What You
will see in the photos that i'm gonna attach below seems not to be a problem
with the bluetooth itself but with the system. My bq4.5 displays all devices i
tried to pair! Thats why i was today unable to connect: I used to connect my
phone to "BT Scania" and "Scania BT". They are both visible on the list and I
can't get rid of them! That seems to be a problem, cause i deleted the phone
from the radio but can't forget the radios in the phone. That's why pairing is
impossible. As You see in the screenshots, i'm unable to forget the device
actually both of them whether one of them is near or not. This way i'm unable
to pair, connect etc."--

[Ubuntu-phone] Fwd: Lock scopes option and a question:)

2016-07-28 Thread Paolo Roascio
Hello, tannk you for the answer

Yes, my bad, with "delete" i meant "remove" (poor english, i know). I have
always to swipe - tap on the star - long tap on the scope and drag it on
top of the list.

Next time i close the flip, the star is accidentally tapped and the scope
is removed :(. So i have to repeat the process again and again.

My question is: there is a way to "lock" scopes so them cannot be
accidentally removed (eg. if i want to tap the settings icon, which is near
the star icon, but on my 4.5 inch screen i touch the star... The scope
disappears).

The only workaround, for now, is to set the App scope as first one, but i
want the today scope

Tapping the star removes the scope from your list of favorite scopes.

Tapping the star does not delete the scope.

To see all installed scopes, swipe up from the bottom of the Apps scope.

From there you can launch a scopes and tap the star to make it a favorite.

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Ghost app in location page after OTA-12

2016-07-28 Thread Rodney Dawes
It seems likely this is due to having some old apps installed with the
permission, but which were using old deprecated frameworks, which were
removed in OTA12. Since those frameworks are no longer available, the
apps are got "unregistered" from the system.

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Ghost app in location page after OTA-12

2016-07-28 Thread Pat McGowan
Yes it is this bug, due to uninstalling an app with permissions. It is not
new with OTA12 fwiw.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+bug/1389775

The records are in a sqlite db at
/home/phablet/.local/share/UbuntuLocationService/trust.db so it is possible
to manually remove the records for apps that were uninstalled but otherwise
this is benign and can be ignored. We will attempt to correct existing dbs
with the fix above.

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Bluetooth is not paired with a C4 Citroen

2016-07-28 Thread Cesar Herrera
I try pairing and the car says this is not compatible. In previous OTA's it
paired. Some times previously I had to reset the car. But now it is impossible.
I have subscribed the bug.
I'll try to delete the unwanted entries this afternoon. But I don't know how to
use the silo.
Could you say where is the syslog?
Thanks,
Cesar

You can find which application it is by searching the trust database for
location.

The db is /home/phablet/.local/share/UbuntuLocationService/trust.db it's
an sqlite3 database.

When you're connected to the device as phablet run something like
sqlite3 ~/.local/share/UbuntuLocationService/trust.db \
"select * from requests;"

And check which entries would match with the empty lines.

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Bluetooth is not paired with a C4 Citroen

2016-07-28 Thread Konrad Zapałowicz
Hey,

Ok, if you are unsure about the silos and due to the fact that I'm not
certain that it will fix the issues with cars I recommend waiting till
OTA-13.

As for the syslog this is the global log file where the whole system is
printing. It is located in /var/log/syslog and you need the adb tool [it is
a part of Android Tools] to access it. Once you have it installed on your
desktop enable the developer mode [under settings/about section] and
connect the device via USB cable. Then login to the device using the adb
(1) copy the syslog to the location which is accessible from outside (2)
loout (3) and fetch it from the device (4)

(1) $ abd shell
(2) $ cp /var/log/syslog /tmp
(3) $ exit
(4) $ adb pull /tmp/syslog ~

Hope this helps, let me know if you have further questions and I will be
happy to answer.

Best,
Konrad

Hey,

We are in a process of releasing BlueZ 5.41 with it's packages currently in
silo 37. It might, however I'm not 100% sure, improve iot with cars.
Therefore if you are fluent enough with the shell and adb you may try to
give it a chance and see how it works otherwise wait till OTA-13 which will
include it.

@Cesar

Could you describe briefly what are the symptoms of your failures - did you
mean connecting or pairing? Is there any chance for you to attach syslog.
The https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1539158 would be a
good place to do so.

Try swiping left until the Desktop Apps (XApps) scope appears.

[Ubuntu-phone] Lock scopes option and a question:)

2016-07-28 Thread Paolo Roascio
Hello, first of all thank you for your great work on OTA12, i think it'ìs a
great step ahead in the development process:)

Then i ask here before report a whish because my poor english doesnt'allow
me to find if it's already reported:)

first question: every scope expose on top a little star icon, if i tap on
it the scope is deleted. Well, i bought the original BQ flip cover and i
found that when i close the flip, often the today scope is accidentally
deleted (the today scope is the first in my collection). Is there a way to
"lock" selected scopes, eg. a long tap on the star icon that change its
state from filled to outlined (or something similar)? Maybe an idea?

second question: after OTA11, i found that in the indicator area my
calendar events advance exactly 22 hours (i'm GMT+2). I explain...

a birthday is registered in google calendar as event from 00:00 to 24:00
with a notification at 09:00 am, eg on 13.07.2016.

Well, in the today scope the event is correctly reported, but in the
indicator area this same event is reported at 12.07.2016 at 02:00 am. This
influences the sound notification that occours at 09:00 am on 12.07.2016 (a
day before).

Before OTA11 all works fine. Is there already a bug report or i'm doing
something wrong? I think that before badly report a bug, it's better to
ask:)

Cheers

[Ubuntu-phone] gedit/software store

2016-07-28 Thread Marcin Xc
With OTA12 gedit disappeared from my M10. Also from the Store. I tried to find
some simple text editor but didn't succeed.
Is there no simple text editor available?
Second thing is the Store itself. I once reported a bug "Browsing a Store is a
nightmare". I just found a game in the Science section and lots of apps either
with no description or there is one in a foreign language. Dear developers,
please try to create app in English so that the apps are translatable as from
the very beginning on the Ubuntu PC. There is gonna be more and more apps
therefore we're gonna loose a control one day over it. It actually happens
already. As an example let's take a Cordova Mobile Spec. I understand You take
for granted that any programmist will know what Cordova is BUT there are many
examples as this one in other categories for normal users: either no
description or for example something in Spanish that noone is able to
understand. There will be more and more apps and if things go this way, we're
gonna have a total chaos.I translated myself the greater part of Ubuntu
Software Center. There were something like close to 5000 strings for program
name and its description. So it was over 2000 programs. Without my translations
as well as the other translators Software Center would be quite useless for
every user in my country.Dear Canonical, please think either about a language
filter or force developer to use English, as well as do not accept any new apps
in the Store without description. Otherwise we're gonna sink in thousands of
apps or better in a case of Ubuntu Touch, thousands of icons: in Ubuntu
Software Center we had program name and description. In Software Store we have
a name and the name of the author and rating as if it was the most important so
our brain chooses and finds programs by the icons and name rather than anything
else cause there is nothing else. The filter works poorely or can't work at all
if there are some other languages used (uTorch-made by my Polish mate but
sorry, your description should be translatable also in other languages,
especially that a torch is one of the basic and most important apps).--

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] bq 4.5 crashed after ota 12

2016-07-28 Thread Marcus Tomlinson
Ok, then I’m now so convinced your bug is fixed. The real issue is that the
phone got into that state without doing anything beyond the ordinary.

I think you should re-open your bug. Obviously, the more info you can supply on
the bug, the better:

Have you been keeping the phone up to date with every OTA update since you got
it?
Did you perhaps skip ota11 and go from ota10 to ota12?
What version did your phone start at / when did you receive your factory
flashed device?

This kind of info is useful. If you can think of any additional info that could
help that’d be awesome! (Like if you did anything that might have been “out of
the ordinary”. Or if any weird error message(s) had shown up before the upgrade)

Thanks for your help!

It seems to work fine here. I enable mobile data, and after several
seconds the indication appears on the indicator row. I guess you should
file a bug.

Quick question: Before your phone went into it’s coma, had you made the phone
image writable and manually installed any custom packages on it (via apt for
example)?

Hi Marcus,

Thank you very much. Talking to Pat yyesterday I realized that my mistake
was the proper path. I was writing the command in the terminal from the
wrong directory.
I corrected it and voilà. My phone has resurrected from deep coma.

Thank you, guys.

Best wishes.

[Ubuntu-phone] OTA-12 && data mobile indicator in upper panel

2016-07-28 Thread Matthias Apitz

Hello,

I updated last night w/o problem to OTA-12. Since then, there is no
data mobile indicator in the upper panel. It only appears (as in
OTA-11) when I switch on in addition hotspot mode. Is this by intention?
I would call the missing data mobile indicator as a missing feature,
i.q. a regression.
