Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Meizu Pro5 Carrier Issues
Hi Alfonso, Have you had a chance to look at the latest logs that I've posted? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ofono/+bug/1592232/comments/8 I'll also note here some other behavior that may or may not be related. 1. After every reboot, the Pro 5 now selects the connection type "2G Only (Saves Battery)" regardless of other networks that are available or the previously selected service that was manually chosen prior to reboot. I don't know if that is because 2G is the only service that populates the field "org.ofono.NetworkRegistration" "Name=". 3G works fine, but no name is ever populated even though "Status = Registered" 2. If 2G/3G/4G is selected and service becomes "Denied," the phone does not try to forget the 4G "Denied" status/settings and reconnect under only 3G or 2G. I've noticed this behavior because if I am "Denied" on 2G/3G/4G and change service to 2G/3G, I have the most success of regaining service. Thanks again for your help and input everyone. Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Meizu Pro5 Carrier Issues
Im not sure it applies, but for few weeks, I had two sim cards in my pro5, (one of that was in roaming - since I was lazy wanted to leave it there) In this setup i've also experienced network issues, but then i've removed the roaming sim from the outer slot and suddenly everything was just fine. Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Meizu Pro5 Carrier Issues
I am also experiencing this, or something very similar. I'm Canada. I very annoyingly lost my MX4 recently, and have just been transitioning to the MX5 Pro. I can confirm that there appears to be less availability of bands on the MX5 Pro than the MX (frequently dropping to 2G or E outside of downtown Vancouver, presumably because any 3G is not used). I have also seen both Denied and "No Network" where that is blatantly untrue. I was in the middle of a phone-call with "No Network" showing. I am happy to add these details anywhere they are useful, and can troubleshoot if required. Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Meizu Pro5 Carrier Issues
Andrea, Do you want to use this bug that I created a while ago, or do you want me to create a new one? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ofono/+bug/1592232 I received an update today from a user in Finland who is having the same issue, but I'm not aware of proper bug protocol. Alfonso, Is there any information or testing that I can provide that can help? It appears that the "bug" is affecting a user in Finland as well. I can only test in the US right now, but I do have three active SIM cards from three different US carriers that I can use for testing. My concern is that people would buy the Pro5 and not even be able to dial 911 in an emergency. If it is a carrier issue, I would like to prove that for you so we can make people in the US aware that they should only buy the Pro5 and the rumored Pro6 if they are fully aware that is can only be used as a WiFi-only device for strictly development purposes. Thanks Alfonso. That makes logical sense that what you stated would be true. I'm not sure how accurate this site is, but it's claming that the MX4 hardware supports more US bands than Pro 5: MX4: https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/48v7ir8/meizu-mx4-m461u-td-lte-32gb/united-states Pro 5: https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/Ealeulv/meizu-pro-5-ubuntu-edition-m576-dual-sim-td-lte-32gb-meizu-niux/united-states Namely, Pro 5 supports no US 3G bands and only single LTE band on certain operators, while MX4 has some 3G coverage. -Timo -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-phone Post to : ubuntu-phone@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-phone More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-phone] Meizu Pro5 Carrier Issues
I have a Meizu MX4 and a Pro5. Both the MX4 and the Pro5 have the same APN configuration. The MX4 behaves great with the limited spectrum available in the US. The Pro5 is problematic. My SIM card works great in the MX4, however, when I put the same SIM card into the Pro5, it is only able to detect the carrier when "2G only" is selected. If I put the Pro5 in 2G/3G/4G mode or 2G/3G mode the carrier is unable to be detected, and I'm told "No Network" at the phone Dialer screen. Phone calls can still be made and received even though it says "No Network" and data can also be downloaded over the "H" 3G connection with speeds up to 7Mbps. The biggest problem is that when walking in major cities in the open air with the Pro5, the cellular data connection will change to "Unavailable" and "Denied." This completely disconnects me from phone and data. Toggling Airplane mode and rebooting doesn't have a consistent affect. Again, these issues do not exist on the MX4. These issues exist on both AT and T-Mobile's networks. I've replicated the successes and failures with two different SIM cards from two different carriers. Right now, my Pro5 has become a paperweight, and the MX4 is my daily driver. Any help would be appreciated.
